"Ah, damn." Kev whispers to Deris "I don't know if you can see em', but there are four nasty lookin' berks behind that strung-up fellow.".

Kev draws his rapier as he hears the footsteps coming up the stairs. He retreats into the deep shadows along the wall, waiting to see what comes up the stairs.
Male Aaisimar Rogue
Kev listens to the animalistic screams from the corridor, trying to figure out might be making them.
Male Aaisimar Rogue
Kev hastily retreats down the corridor, pulling a dirty rag from his pocket and covering his mouth and nose. "I'd move. That strung up berk is leaking fungus and I ain't planin' on finding out what it does." he says to his invisible companion, his voice slightly muffled.

"Fine." Kev says, lowering his hand and letting the light fade. Blinking to adjust to the sudden darkness he says "Alright, now I'm hoping that we can discuss this like reasonable adults at least I assume you're an adult and that our reasons for being here aren't mutually exclusive. What're you proposing?"

"I don't much like talking to someone I can't see.". Taking a deep breath, Kev calls upon his angelic heritage, summoning the light of day. A small globe of brilliant light appears in his hand. "Come on, show yourself. I've got enough magic in me to blast your soul from your body. I'd rather not use it on someone I'm not sure is an enemy so kindly become visible and we can talk this over like reasonable intelligent beings." Bluff 28 Why can't I roll like this when I'm dealing with something that's actually an enemy?

Spoiler: Kev turns his head slightly when he hears someone take a step behind him. He tenses as he feels the breath on his neck, willing himself not to be too obvious in his response. Knowing my luck it'll be whatever did this.
Is the candle within easy reach? If so...

I suppose I wasn't clear in my last post; Kev is trying to figure out a little more about the body before proceeding.

Spoiler: Cautiously picking his way along the dim corridor, Kev stays alert. It wouldn't do to let something get the drop on him. He'd rather not end the day with something gnawing on his innards.
Spot 9;Listen 23 He pauses when he sees the upside-down man Poor bastard. What happened to you? he wonders taking a cautious step forward and kneeling in front of the corpse to get a better look. When he feels the fine thread brush across his face, he backs away a little, gripping the hilt of his rapier. That package had better be damned important. he thinks, examining the area around the makeshift web, looking for any obvious traps or nasty creatures. All the while he goes over the street-talk, rumor, and legend he's heard, trying to figure out what might be lurking just around the corner.

Kev sighs as the sounds of a furious battle reaches him "Guess there's no chance of a pint then.". He waits for Thorn and O.L.L.I to enter the tavern before entering himself. He goes through the doors and sizes up the situation, trying to creep along the wall to the stairs.
Male Aaisimar Rogue
Kev wrinkles his nose at the stench and a moment later sighs as he sees the large tiefling and his gang 'Lovely. Can today get any better?' he thinks with a sigh. He tries to blend in with the crowd and avoid notice. Failing that, he hopes that he won't be a tempting target due to his companions 'Course with a bespectacled donkey and a walking box I doubt we'll look like difficult marks. We stick out like a sore thumb too.'. Kev readies himself for a fight, stealthily reaching into his coat and gripping the hilt of his rapier. If he can't talk his way out of this one or at least run he'd better hope his new 'friends' are decent in a fight.

'Oh what the Hells. They'll see me when I deliver it anyway.' Kev extends a hand to the Bariur, saying "It ain't just the box that ruins your tough guy act. Name's Kev." with a crooked grin. "And, yeah, I've gotta deliver a message to Enoch for the boss. Why, you after him too?" after a moment's thought "What the Hells? Traveling there with you can't hurt. Just so long as I get to deliver my message before you do whatever you're going to do to him alright?"

Kev hurries through the Lower Ward, eager to deliver his message and recieve payment. His curiosity about what might be coming all the way from Acheron gnaws at him as he strides through the dirty streets, doing his best to act like he belongs here, to conceal his accursed heritage and be an inconspicious member of the crowd "Damn those angels! Fiend-born don't know how lucky they are!". He smiles slighty when he sees the absurd pair. A packhorse bariur and an easily distracted modron. "Modron looks like an easy mark." Kev thinks as he watches the box man study some fascinating item, realize he's falln behind and then frantically hurries on his spindly lefs to catch up. "Yep. Easy mark" Kev thinks, his fingers twitching slightly as he considers the possibilities "Might have some jink. Maybe later, after I finish this little errand." As he realizes that they're following virtually the same path through the lower ward, his eyes narrow as he stares at the odd couple. Surely not. Surely they're not after Enoch too. Deciding he can't be too careful, Kev picks up the pace, ignoring the protest of his sore feet and hurrying even faster along the dark streets.

Kev withdraws his hand, massaging it to restore blood flow "Relax. Discretion is my middle name. The message will arrive unread." and with that Kev hurridly leaves Autochon's presence and the Palace. Outisde, Kev stare curiously at the package, thin fingers twitching slightly "I could listen to the message, reseal it and no one would be the wiser. Unless there's some mage's seal. Damn, whatever's in here could be worth enough jink for me to get out of here quick enough to escape Bell-boy's wrath. But, damn. What if this Enoch fellow realizes. If he's not one to tangle with even if I made it back here Autchon would know and then Hells only know what would happen to me.". He walks slowly towards the mark's address, wrestling with his curiosity and greed and trying to judge the danger involved in wronging Enoch.
Male Aaisimar Rogue
"No. I don't have the jink." Kev says, almost snappishly "Today is not my day.". Kev pretends to consider for a long moment, not wanting the strange man behind the desk to see how interested he is in seeing the message before finally saying "Well, I guess if it was so damned important to go to all that trouble I should see it." Smiling more confidantly now Kev extends a hand "We have a deal. Who be the mark? Where do I deliver the package?"

As he looks up Kev flash him a weak smile and producing the message from an inner pocket of his long, brown coat. "Sir, one of your messengers delivered this to me a short while ago. What's this about Acheron, if I might ask?" he asks, as respectfully as he can "The fewer bastards who want to kill me the better." he thinks, his heart beating faster as he considers the situation Something about Acheron and a big-shot wants to talk to me. This can't be good." as he quickly looks about, looking for a good route if he has to move fast.

Momentarily awed and intimidated by the edifice before him, Kev shakes himself and hesitantly goes up to the great oak doors and looks for a knocker or a bell pull r anything with which to announce his presence "Probably don't want to just wander in. I don't wnat to be the next body the cartmen pick up.". He knocks and waits.

Scanning the street for a good mark one last time, Kev sighs and is about to turn and walk back to the inn that he calls home when he sees a messenger hurrying down the street towards him. He tenses and then relaxes a moment later when recognizes the man as someone best left alone. “For me?” he asks in surprise as the messenger hands him the parchment. He opens it, briefly considering telling the messenger that he’s not Arkev Tallius and that he’s delivered the wrong message but he thinks better of it, nodding in thanks to the man and regretfully fishing a silver coin out of his pocket and handing it to the messenger “Here you go mate.”
