Is there an updated image for the special cover to see what the spine and cover design will be like?
Good question. I’m on the case.

Will future Special Edition books, including G&G, have a spine style like that of Secrets of Magic?

I think I speak for a decent number of people when I say that we were disappointed when Secrets of Magic changed (And the image for that in the store still doesn't reflect what you actually receive), and that if every single book moving forward has a unique spine style it would defeat a lot of the purpose that I felt was intended for the special editions, namely the "unified and clean display".

I could cope somewhat if the "core set" had a spine style and the "expanded set" had the same spine style.

I concur with you on this one. I have all of those editions, and Secrets of Magic, despite looking fantastic, looks out of place.
I like that the non 6 core stand out and hope this trend continues.

They have said it will, so you’re in luck!

I think Secrets of Magic looks great, but think the spine could have been made to match earlier spines. Their design approach has shifted, and it doesn’t fit with my aesthetic approach to a shelf with the Limited Special Editions, so, for me, it’s the reason I won’t be getting it.

Also, of note, the images on the site continue to suggest that they do match the old design, which is problematic, I think. I get that the art may not be finalized, but using placeholder images that suggest they match the rest of the Limited line creates unnecessary confusion. If your design changes, that shouldn’t be something that a person finds out when they open the package with the book, and I think that is what had some people disappointed.

Note: I am not angry, nor am I trying to tell Paizo how to do their thing; I just won’t be buying them anymore, which will free up my wallet to buy some of the other great things Paizo produces!

This is my first post, and I am a little late to it, but I was also disappointed with the design change. The book looks great, probably even better than the earlier limited editions, but the Limited Special Editions having the same spine is what makes them work well on a shelf. Now that the spine no longer matches, it looks a little strange on the shelf. I think that the design of the cover could have met the design goal of expanding the heart of 2E, while maintaining the spine design that makes the limited editions look great together on a shelf. Now they look a bit… off.
