Okay, so my group prefers to use the 6*4d6, drop the lowest, arrange as desired method of character creation because it allows for more variation than the standard point-buy methods. You can end up with characters that really shouldn't be adventuring or, occasionally, a character that is great at everything.

Our GM makes everyone roll in front of each other. His rule for discarding a set of rolls is this: 1) If the highest roll is a 16 or higher and the character as a whole has +3 to his total abilities before race selection then you have to keep the roll; 2) If the highest roll is 14 or 15 and the character as a whole has +4 to his total abilities before race selection then you have to keep the roll; and 3) If the highest roll is a 12 or 13 and the character as a whole has +5 to his total abilities before race selection then you have to keep the roll.

We generally play our campaigns all the way to level 20.

Well, we just rolled up new characters, and I hit the absolute motherload: 18,18,17,16,10,6. Yes, everyone is jealous as all hell.

I have decided I want to play a transmuter. I know this isn't the optimized way to place the attributes, but I figured with dice rolls like this I have the opportunity to really make a memorable and fun player: S18 D10 C18 I17 W16 Ch6 (Dual Talent Human for S20 D10 C20 I17 W16 Ch6. I have decided his traits will be Bruising Intellect, Commanding, Arcane Temper, with the drawback of Pride.

Where should I go from there? I want him to remain capable in melee (with his stats he will be a match for the full BAB characters at early levels) without having to spend precious time buffing himself like crazy. He doesn't have to stay even with the full BAB characters by high level, but any build should still be able to duke it out with 3/4 BAB characters and win thanks to his great stats.

I was thinking a two-handed weapon of some sort, heavy armor proficiency (relying on spells without somatic components and the feat Still Spell to remain effective at casting). I also want him to at least be able to intimidate the bejeezers out of people so that he has at leat one kind of social interaction he is good at.

Also, should I swap his Wisdom and Dexterity so he is D16 W10?
