Some research that I found on this spell if it matters:

Only creatures are entangled by the entangle spell but why is this so? What keeps plants enchanted by this spell from entangling each other and creating a field of knotted foliage? Well, after a bit of research, I learned that the spell compels plants to entangle anything other than non-sentient plants. With a bit of tweaking, a spellcaster can camouflage herself and possibly other creatures and thus be unaffected by the spell.

With a successful Spellcraft check (DC 16), you can alter your aura to appear as a normal plant for purposes of the entangle spell. For every additional creature you wish to cloak, add +1 to the Spellcraft DC. This can only be done while the spell is being cast. For the duration of the spell, successful use of this spell secret makes the affected creatures immune to your entangle spell.

Anju's Entangle spell has piqued my curiosity about several questions:

(1) Does Entangle create vegetation where none is apparent? If so, it becomes much more useful in urban environments.

(2) Are the PCs (and the owlbear) in the 40' radius of effect?

(3) Does an Entangle spell constitute an act that "threatens" the owlbear? This would break Arius' spell over it.

If (2) and (3) apply, this combat is going to get more interesting for us.

hmmm... I missed this post initially... I'll look into that... but i'm sure there are some sickly plants that were in the stomachaches of the dead bodies.. it gives them magic to sustain the quick growth, so the seeds should be all thats needed

The spell doesn't actually require plants all the time, I was actually thinking about the roots of plants that we might find underground. As for the owlbear, I forgot about him...I'm not sure how it would effect him because it doesn't do any damage and he can still attack if he is in range. Also, I believe you can limit how much it spreads because I've seen druids use this spell in the past without it hindering the party. It would make a battle difficult if all of your party members were getting entangled during a battle because you cast a spell that keeps grabbing them =p

I don't worry too much either about this taking awhile. I think D&D just takes longer in PbP than other games because of all the fighting involved. I play Vampire in PbP and it goes smoothly until there is a fight and then it takes a week to get through that one part haha.

Arius glances at Anju, and assuming that she does not signal her opposition, he puts all of their money back on the table.

Anju overhears the conversation about Bog Grog between the barmaid and Arius. "Sounds like something an ogre would whip up" she mutters to herself. She sees Arius put the money back on the table and nods to him in agreement.

Just out of curiosity, did they have a problem with me bringing my wolf into the room? If he was let in, does anyone think he can be of help acting as a distraction of some sort?

Yes, I failed my RL Perception check. Sorry.

How noticeable is it for Arius to activate a supernatural ability (i.e., Hand of the Apprentice)?

Anju looks around the room as the others do.

I take it Anju can find the cage with that in which case she will look at the group and see that Arius is looking in the same direction.

8 gp. I'm assuming that Arius is carrying 10 gp and some silvers.

Not really understanding what is about to take place Anju watches the actions of the others. She sees Arius put money down on Keth's end of the table and follows suit putting down 10 gold and whispering to Keth "Good luck friend." She hopes that if there is any bloodshed it will be on the side of the thugs.

I'll assume that Anju got a chance to go back to her village for a brief visit to make sure they were all ok and get some emergency supplies.

Anju looks around cautiously.

"I don't like the idea of getting fondled here. We should do what we have to do and leave quickly. There is danger all around here."
