Male Dwarf Wizard

MEANWHILE....

Angus paused in his trek down the trail and gazed long into the tall grass.

Perception rolled a 17+2 for wisdom for a total of 19 versus a botched stealth check (Yes I rolled a 1!)

"You can stop hiding, let's be honest you're really dreadful at it!" Angus spoke as he readied his axe.

A pair of goblins stepped out of the grass a little ahead of the dwarf.
"Begone dwarf, we do not have time for fools!" one goblin cursed as it grew into a human the clothing that seemed baggy and somehwat folded up stretched into its true shape as the pale skinned creature looked back at Angus even as its sole follower drew its blade and chittered its face grinned with the expectation fo slaughter.

"Sorry, my business is that way and you're in my way, either sod off or prepare to fall," Angus cursed straight back at them.

Initiative rolled 17 for Angus, 8 for the goblin and 13 for the changeling rogue

"Arcane duelist, Colour spray!" Angus yells pointing towards the pair with his axe as sand is dropped from his other hand as the spell flashes across the dirt catching the pair by surprise.

Colour spray is a 1st level spell gains +3 for his Int bonus and a further +1 for invoking his arcane duelling ability (in the Pathfinder Campaign Setting) for a save DC of 15, the goblin has a -1 to its will save and rolls a 6 for a 5 and the changeling rolls a 10 but only has a+2 Will so she goes over too...

Both creatures drop in their tracks.

Angus gingerly walks up to them and whilst the goblin is unconscious the changeling is stunned.

"You know I should just kill you, but that really wouldn't be the lawful thing to do after all I don't know you, hello whats this?" Angus having knelt down next to the changeling reaches down and takes off a small pouch next to a light crossbow and a case of bolts.

Removing the crossbow and case next he stands to peruse the weapon and then notices something about the bolts.
"These things have poison on them, I mean you didn't even use the ones you can't notice... I take it this pouch..." Angus berates her as he drops both the crossbow and bolts to examine the pouch.

"Yes I take it this is the antidote for these things?" he holds forth a number of vials with strange writing on them.

The changeling's hand flashes to its nearest weapon.

"Timult," Angus merely gestures with his axe hand.
range touch attack with transmutation school power rolled a 12+1 for Dex = 13 a hit doing 4pts of damage

"Eurk!" the changeling splutters as the blow sends her backwards even if she was prone a few feet away from the dwarf.
She stumbles to her feet drawing her rapier.
"Timult!" Angus intones again but this time he misses as she darts to one side and launches herself at the dwarf...

I sure do too! Looking at one of his profiles: http://paizo.com/people/Skazzgrakk/posts he seems to post elsewhere on the Paizo boards?

Yes he does on a Saga edition Star Wars pbm

That's all there is to do, now, is disagree. We're not able to do much else here. This game was started before mine, and my players are now fighting the thugs for control of the chest.

Odd I still haven't bought any of this adventure path unless you include the Player's Companion but I still thought the party was going to be gatecrashed by wererats...

Hope everything's okay with the dm regardless of the fate of this game...

Hope they're okay

After a while Angus returns to Naeem who is hopefully near Aude and Jeagal.

"Hate to say this but have you had better luck all I've got after all this "mingling" is the beginning of a headache and I still don't have a clue about all of this..." Angus mutters shaking his head as he finally locates a tankard of ale and begins to drink trying to ease the tension the evening's entertainment is giving him...

(OOC; Ended up rolling myself got an 8 for gather information and the Knowledge/Nobility roll total was even lower!)

Angus starts to mingle looking at the various games, what each game is actually about and so on but also more importantly listening to the others present getting a handle on what they think of the event and hopefully see if the host has other things planned.

(OOC: Could you make a Gather Information roll for me please, along with a Knowledge/Nobility check to see if Angus recognises any of the guests as being who's who of Riddleport, he won't be bothering them just noting who's present before focusing on the games so he can go back to the others and discuss the various games present and what else he can pick up by listening.)

I don't know yet what games are available but I fear I'll be ill considered if I don't play at least a little

"Then by all means lets mingle, get the lowdown on the games and see what catches your attention whilst the rest of us try and gauge what else is developing," Angus nods wondering what else is going to happen tonight.

Male Dwarf Wizard

"Have to say I don't much care for the proprietor's idea of a good scheme but I suspect we're all expected to throw in a few gold for the evening's entertainment, care to choose a game to look over whilst mingling for information before trying, Aude?" Angus asked carefully scrutinising the assembly before him.
~Very probably rigged but given Riddleport's reputation it would indeed be very cunning and that reward of being able to walk away with their money and a prize surprisingly lacking in gold meant there was going to be more going on than he previously thought~ Angus carefully thought out.
"Naeem be careful, something is very off here, it might be just our host's presence making things more than it seems but I think we might have more happening tonight than the host planned for," Angus mutters to the monk.
"Hmm, just keep an eye out just in case and keep close, something... is not quite right and I can't put my finger on what it is..." Angus adds stroking his beard as his eyes narrow.

(OOC: Gather Information seems the best place to start, at the moment Angus is wondering what Saul has planned and being in Riddleport there's bound to be someone who would rather see him fail so mingling would help either allay these fears and getting more details on what games he has planned might reveal what other dodges he has planned)

Naeem nods in agreement with Aude's comment. "I presume if we lose nothing then they will not mark us."

"Unfortunately its never that easy," Angus replies.

"Did you catch the fact the winner leaves with 10,000 in silver? what happened to the devil's gold do you think?" Angus asks them.
"And yes very tacky, indeed," Angus added frowning.

"Just one thing first, though, sweetie; I need you to fill in this registration form for me..."

"You want my signature?" Marten asks, his booming voice carrying clearly across the general hubbub. "But of course, young lady! I hadn't expected to be recognised quite so soon." With a flourish, he dashes off an illegible scrawl on the proffered piece of paper. "You have the place decked out most splendidly," he continues, in a quieter voice, "as befits the opening night of a fine establishment such as this! I would be honoured to perform here, if that is your wish. I'm sure Old Nick and I can come to some sort of arrangement." He beams at the woman, then surveys the room for drinking companions.

Sorry I'm late to the party! I was away, and have been rather busy since I got back.

Angus glances over and almost grins.

"Finally a bard, now the party can really start!" he beams.

Turns to Aude Cooper and whispers.
"I've been wondering how long before one of Riddleport's minstrels was going to appear, they really do like to make an entrance!"

Likewise.

Angus , what you have just told me about looking at the people here has given me an idea.
Giving the general quality of the people here , the winner had better had friends with him when he'll depart with his money else he might have some problem keeping it once outside. To be frank , given my knowledge of games , I doubt I'll be the winner but if me and Jeagal can win a part of the money just protecting someone , why not ? Four people would be better than two for this purpose , could I count you and Naeem with us ?

"I'd say yes as it would make this evening that much more interesting, what about you Naeem?" Angus asks.

To Angus the part of the request that interests him is that perhaps he could persuade them to help look for that missing priest of Desna but one step at a time he chides to himself.

Oh , excuse me , I'm Aude Cooper and my friend is Jeagal .

"As long as you don't spread it too far round, my name is Angus and I'll let my friend here introduce himself," Angus bows carefully.

(OOC: Okay so I'll let the others sort out who's who and by that I mean Angus's Cyphermage name)

"Thank you, I have to say games of chance don't interest me half as much as the gossip about this place and what its proprietor has planned for this evening," Angus replies.

Noticing the dwarf and human in the last moment, Jeagal positions himself between the two man and Aude, looking them up and down. Not seeing any weapons at hand, the half-orc lets his battleaxe rest on his shoulder, from where it was lifted just as much to be in a ready place to strike.

"I not know you. But beer good. It not is in breakable cup." he replies, after checking them out a second time.

"Good enough recommendation for me, Naeem?" Angus nods glancing at the monk.

Angus does not need to try to spy, for Jeagal can be made out easy enough. Holding in his hand the remains of a glass that he obviously held a little to strong, probably to not let it fall. One of the waitresses quickly brings a new drink for the halforc, this time a wooden tankard.

Jeagal laughs at his 'mistake', then turns to Aude to keep shielding her.

"Ah there they are," Angus nudges Naeem.

"Looks like their glassware's a little on the fragile side though," he adds as they approach the pair.

"So do you either of you recommend anything they're for drinking purposes?" he asks the pair.

Naeem allows the conversation to veer away noting the change in tone from his companion, but mentally notes to return to the subject at some point in the near future.

"Some people over there seem to be drinking some sort of red liquid that does not appear to be wine."
I'm assuming they'll do cocktails to play up the theme of the event.

Angus pauses noting where Naeem's looking.

After a moment he replies," I have no idea what that is," he admits.

Looking around he tries to spy Jeagal believing he would have focused on something more palateable.

Naeem walks with Angus across the floor. "I had not given much thought to a drink. I shall observe and see if any look interesting enough to try. Why come to a place like this if not to experience?"

As they make their way following the others he looks up as if at the sky past the ceiling. "I assume that you have seen the blot. That was what attracted me to this place."

"I was more intrigued with the Cyphergate myself, but that thing scares me far more than I care to admit," Angus replies calmly.

"Every time I look at it I feel like I want to run far as possible away from it and the really odd part is that, that far away bit involves getting as deep underground as I can," Angus matter of factly explains his tone calm and measured as he looked around at the available drink.

"Strangely it reminds me of something my mentor told me about an old Vudrani child story involving the arrival of the Starstone or so my mentor believed, you really don't know how much I hope I'm wrong about that part," Angus mutters quietly his voice hushed as he then shudders.

"So ale, beer, wine, do you see any other drink choices?" Angus asks Naeem seemingly brightening up as if trying to forget what he had been thinking about.

(OOC: I don't know if the above is actually relevant, It's just a reason why Angus is seriously troubled by what he's felt ever since coming into sight of the Blot and arriving at Riddleport and his current stay in the city)

Male Dwarf Wizard

"So how's Riddleport been these days?" Angus asks Naeem.

"Have you heard about this cleric of Desna whose gone missing somewhere in the mountains?" Angus queries as he continues to move towards Sunny and Jeagal making note to turn to look at Naeem when talking but keeping a careful eye out after all even an establishment as new and glossy as this has the usual dangers.

(OOC: Are there any rules I need to know about multi-classing? Because I was wondering about making Angus a Wizard/monk but the only detail I've read seems to indicate you would have to multiclass in a favoured class and I just wanted to confirm if that was true, PS: Found the alias bit! Many thanks for that!)
