Welcome to our Paizo Organized Play community, AnVee.

For PFS2 PbP on these forums, join us in the Cottonseed Lodge. Introduce yourself as a new player and we'll help you get started...

I am happy to provide you with more information for PbD (Play by Discord) lodges if you'd like.

If you are looking for games that are played in "real-time", as your 1 hr or 4-5 hr session question implies, then you may be looking for VTT (Virtual Table Top) games... head to #general_chat_pfs2 and introduce yourself there as a potential new player. The friendly mob should welcome you and lead you in the right direction. The two most commonly used VTTs are Roll20 and Foundry, with Foundry rapidly becoming the favourite for PFS2...

Thank you very much the extra info. I wasn't aware of VTT, and it certainly sounds alluring (although I might not always have the time for that). Also, thanks for the heads up about Cottonseed Lodge! Sorry for my delayed response, I've had an interesting past few days (which is alright now ^-^') but I've spent the last few hours researching what you've taught me.

The Cottonseed Lodge is awesome! This character's name is Pip, and she's played in a number of games that were arranged through there.

I have a character sheet that you can see if you click my avatar. It's only one of the ways that you can design your character sheet on here, but hopefully it can give you ideas on how you want to organize the information yourself.

A disembodied voice calls out from the air, "Hello to you too, Pip!"

Thank you for the character sheet example for PbP! I've been doing some research into the Cottonseed Lodge as well as the Flaxseed Lodge (which I currently understand to be the parent organization that the Cottonseed Lodge is a part of(?))

I'm currently working on putting on a character together, so once I've finished, I'll probably see about joining the Cottonseed Lodge :)

Welcome. I'll try to answer some of your question, but there's a chance I'm misunderstand some of them, so please ask whatever follow-ups you need...

Thank you for the swift response!

That pretty much clears up my questions. I was referring to the CRB sheet, so you were right that I was asking about the Ancestry "special", and you did a great job clearing that up.

Welcome!

Happy to help. That's a lot of questions, so I'll answer a few...

Thank you for the clarification on factions. I brought up 5e because it's a simpler game, so there's less going on with your standard CRB sheet. I've looked into a few custom sheets but will probably stick with CRB for now.

Also, thanks for the heads up on the receipts ^_^

Hello!

I'm new to Pathfinder (and by extension Pathfinder Society). I've spent the last couple days reviewing as many documents as I can trying my best to make a PFS character so that I can join play.
With that said, I have a few questions I'd appreciate clarification on:

First, to my understanding, a PFS character is largely the same as a standard character, but with some options having limited access, typically based off of rarity or legality. I'm fairly sure I get that. However, I'm unsure how schools and factions work: are they just choices I make for my character or do I need GM approval?

Where do I mark certain feats, features etc?
So, I'm migrating from 5e to PF2. In 5e, feats are just denoted and don't typically have select areas. PF2, on the other hand, lists its different categories to the side.

  • What is a "Special" feat, and where does it come from?
  • If I get skills and feats from PF schools where do those go?
  • Should I note my free regional language separately or just add it to the sheet?

How do PbP/PbD games work?
Since my closest game store is... 2 hours away, I can't rely on being able to meet in person; however, I am still interested in playing and heard PbP and PbD is an option. I also prefer to purchase hard copies of the materials I use, as I find them more reliable and easier to use.

  • Do I need digital copies of books and character documents to play PbP/PbD?
  • Where can I get my first Chronicle?
  • Where can I find a beginner PbP/PbD for a 1 hr or 4-5 hr session?

Sorry for the long questions, especially if they've been asked before and I just don't get it. Hopefully you all can help me though. In any case, thanks for reading thus far.
