So while I'm not a huge fan of World of Darkness specifically, I do really enjoy the system. Unfortunately, none of the White Wolf games I've played in have lasted more than a few sessions, due to the GMs getting busy. I really want to get a group together that will last, as it seems to be a system that encourages more long-term character progression.

The games I'm currently looking at are Scion, Hunter or Changeling, but I'm definitely open to considering others.

Also, as I said, my experience with the system is pretty limited. And I really want to play in this game more than I want to GM it. So I'm really hoping there will be someone else on the boards who is willing to run this game.

The passenger ship Sister’s Grace is just over a week into its journey from the Inner Sea to northern Garund. It was far from a luxury ship, but it did have all the amenities needed for comfortable travel. The mess was well stocked and the living quarters were as comfortable as any inn. The crew has made this trip dozens of times before, but they seem uneasy.

You’ve heard them murmuring about the unseasonably harsh weather, and it only seems to be getting worse. The harsh wind and rain have forced most of the passengers below deck, and the high waves leave the ship at a near constant tilt. Still, the captain assures everyone that there is no need to worry. He visits the mess at dinner time on the 4th straight day of storming to speak to the passengers and crew.

”There’s nothin’ unnatural about the storm at sea. Just give ‘er the respect she deserves, pray to whatever gods’ll listen, and we’ll make it through just fine.”

A young ninja wearing the face of another receives a letter bearing her family seal – an order to kill a ship captain and make it look like an accident at sea. A man of science, displaced in time and space, learns of a powerful wizard in the land of Nex who seeks to master the secrets of planar travel. An orphaned witch, exiled from the only home she’s ever known, is urged further south and beyond the sea by forces she does not yet fully comprehend. A seeker of song and a seeker of storms, unused to being so far away from their own people, each leave their old homes behind in search of a greater calling. The son of a god, eager to craft his own legend, seeks the power he will need to become divine in his own right.

Six strangers board a ship together, each on their own path, ignorant to the goals and struggles of those around them. Certainly, after a few short weeks, they would have gone on their separate ways, never to see each other again. But when someone pulls at the strings of fate to draw them in, their destinies are suddenly set on a radically different route.

It will be up to you whether you whether you try to go back to your old life, or set out on this new road set before you.

Feel free to chat, ask questions, or get to know each other a bit. I need to finalize a few things, but the gameplay thread should go up in a couple of days. Houserules will go in the campaign info tab soon. This is my first time GMing a pbp campaign, so I am open to any feedback about how I'm doing.

You are a hero, destined for greatness. A week ago, you boarded a ship; the final leg in your journey for honor, glory, or fortune. However, there are forces at work that have other plans for you. Your destiny will have to wait.

This campaign will take place in my own homebrew setting within Golarion. There is a general outline set for the early levels, but outside of a few key encounters, the game will be largely shaped by the choices made by the players. The initial game is planned for levels 3-7, and I don’t expect it to take longer than a couple of months. If we get a good group of players together, and we all want to keep it going beyond that, there is certainly potential to extend it.

Character Creation:

  • 25 point-buy, starting at level 3
  • Max hit points at lvl 1, half+1 after
  • Most races are allowed, but don’t go crazy
  • All classes are allowed, but I don’t like occult classes. Submit one if you’re feeling lucky.
  • 3rd party only allowed with approval
  • Starting wealth for a 3rd level PC
  • Two traits, a single drawback for a third

  • About the GM:

  • I have a few years of GM experience, but this is my first time GM’ing play-by-post. But from what I’ve seen so far, it seems to fit my playstyle (and schedule) better than other methods of online play. So I want to give it a shot.
  • I typically run roleplay heavy games. There will be more character interaction than combat, and many encounters can be resolved diplomatically (assuming intelligent enemies). Don’t expect a murder hobo to fit in too well.
  • I am pretty open-minded when it comes to tweaking or house ruling underpowered feats, items and archetypes. Discuss it with me, and I’ll probably be willing to come to some sort of compromise.
  • I’m not a fan of power gaming. I am much more likely to choose a fun, thematically interesting character than the heavily optimized but boring one. If you’re going to submit your most op theory-crafted build, at least have the best backstory to go with it.
  • House rules: I have a few. Among them are hero points (with some tweaks), crit tables (when appropriately dramatic), and Rule of Cool (small bonuses to your rolls when roleplaying is especially good). I’ll go into more detail later.
  • I try not to kill people. At least, not all at once. I usually put a decent amount of work into the story, and I prefer when my players make it to the end. That said, no one is immortal, and you only get so many chances. If your character thinks it’s a good idea to taunt the dragon, well…
  • I’m closing recruitment on the 12th (next Friday) . I’m hoping for a party of 4-6. Please do your best to post once a day if chosen. Feel free to ask any questions. And above all, let’s have fun.
