A few final questions, and then I'll (finally) get my submission together: considering the evident parallel between the classes, any chance an Antipaladin could use a Paladin Archetype, namely Shining Knight, if said Antipaladin is a Paladin who was raised to the dark side?

Similarly, would it be conceivable to steal a few spells from the Paladin list? Specifically: Challenge Evil (Good), Knight's Calling, Paladin's Sacrifice, and King's Castle?

To save Aine from the Morrigan, you must first find her soul, which can only be done with the help of The Morrigan herself! Then, you must lead Aine’s soul back into the mortal world and, thus, give her a second chance at salvation.

He sees her soul flying among the Sluagh.


To become a bard of legend, there are many ways. But the surest path to such immortality is finding a mystical muse… Daire knows that the magical voice that called to him will assuredly inspire in him great songs that will be forever remembered.

He knows also that she is a Leanan sídhe – a fairy who will love him truly and give him unique inspiration but, tragically, will drain his life little by little.

Think of it as a Peau de Chagrin: you get want you want, but you must pay the ultimate price!


Aoife’s wolfskin cloak is worn by the remaining heir of the O’Gallagher of Lifford, whose proud horsemen were decimated by the heroes of Largay at the Battle of Moyglass. The O’Gallagher are subjects of the O’Donnel who now rule in Tyrconnel, and who proved allies to the cause of MacLochlain’s children.


You know that Aoife loves you and that she believes that she would give it all up to be with you. But you also know that she will never turn away from her responsibilities and that her betrothal is key to her father’s plans. This is why your next night together will be your last.

Fintan also understands that destiny can only be changed by powerful magic.

To be with Aoife once and for all, Fintan must call upon the intercession of Ailbe, the dark and powerful spirit of the O’Brian in the mortal world. Fintan realizes with horror that it is Ailbe herself who appeared to him in the guise of Old Biddy and who spoke the very prophecy that troubles him now!

Ailbe is enemy to the McCarthy – the Queen of Largay’s clan. And she seeks revenge on Old Amergin, Aoife, Fintan, and Padraic for the role they played in the legendary story of the Children of Lir. As payment, she will require sacrifice…

Thorun cuts deep into the creature's trunk and for a brief instant, he imagines that it will let him go...

The monster throws the giant Dane around like a rag doll, slamming him into the ground twice before squeezing the life out of him and dropping him to the ground, lifeless.

Darkness. Silence. Peace. Then light. Thorun opens his eyes and sees Sister Cobhlaith looking down at him like an angel in a bright halo, beckoning him back to life. The sounds of battle and the screams of the foul fairies are brutal reminders of the tranquillity that he left behind...

Still standing a safe distance behind the massive plant creature, the small fairies scream first with joy and then with fury.

Thorun suffers 34 hp damage and is healed 20 hp by Sister Cobhlaith.

Unless we find a time and place when Akula's and Toraim's paths would have crossed, we can let their mutual interests do the work. I find it interesting that two warriors who, more often than not, would have been enemies are bonded by faith and passion. The makings of a surprising friendship?

Your LE to my LN... Interesting. Philosophical rivals fighting for the same cause? Once upon a time, differing views on how the order should be run, and on its role?

Do you have a backstory written out?

I don't know the Bloodlord class... My objective here was to see how far Stunning Fist could go, which meant raising its DC and finding ways to lower the DC of opponents. Feel free to have a look at my build. I can adjust of we're too much the same, or if you find some major flaws.

My fear is that he may feel like (another) one-trick pony. But the spells should help with that...

So I have gone down the rabbit hole and I am drowning in research, which I should have done ages ago given that I knew this was coming! Long story short, I haven't forgotten you all. I am just making sure that my Otherworld is properly populated and makes sense while taking into account your characters!

Seeing the Dottari obviously hiding something and hindering their investigation, The Bogeyman decides to make an appearance. He appears out of nowhere, stepping effortlessly from the shadows into the dim light, and confronts the major abruptly: "you're hiding something. He looks back at the snarling gnolls. "I am the Wanderer chosen by Gozreh in these harsh lands. I am the Templar of the North Wind, most beloved of Sarenrae. I am the past, the present and the future. If Kardswann's good name has been borrowed, we will destroy the usurper. And if he has lost his way..."

Uzma hesitates, wondering if the powerful djinn inside him will allow him to speak.

"If Kardswann has lost his way, we will destroy him. We will rid these lands of the beast."

Hi all! I'm still around! But between the server issues and the fact that my wife gave birth to our second a few days ago, my opportunities to post have been rare, to say the least.

Sophia is a happy and healthy baby. Mom is tired but well. I am doing what I can!

Happy Father's day!

Seeing the futile efforts to open the trap door, Uzma takes the time to pray as of often does, raising his hands to the sky and occasionally mumbling to himself.

"But the temple has yet to be cleansed," he argues with himself before conceding that it is, indeed, time to return to camp.

"We must go. The Gods wish it so. If we stay, if we delay, there may be a price to pay and I fear the worst – we may be cursed by whatever claimed this place long ago."

He turns to leave. "Trust me, my friends. I am guided by the North Wind."

With that, he steps out of the room.

1) Largay swears allegiance to Cavan, who in turns swears allegiance to Breifne
2) I haven't yet identified other petty kings of Cavan or Breifne, but the McKiernans are likely the most powerful family in the nearby region
3) Boho swears allegiance to King Mulroney of Fermanagh, who in turn answers to the King of Airgialla
4) Brigitt is the sister of Sean Quinn who until recently owned the lands of neighbouring Belcoo and swore allegiance to Boho

Brother O'Maille, Aoife, and Fintan exchange cryptic looks. Fintan nods as if to say go ahead and it is Amergin who finally tells the story... He speaks with clarity, assurance, and the melodious voice and rhythm of an expert bard.

He tells first of Brother O’Maille’s vision – granted to him by God when he drank the water of the nearby Holywell. Then, he tells the story of how the vision led Brother O’Maille, along with Fintan and Braedan McGovern, Padraic Ó’Cinnéide, and the slave Aoife to the Marble Arch Caves.
…Of how they fought five magical wolves on their way up the steep slope of the Cuilcagh mountain.
…Of how in the caves they encountered the tortured spirit of Queen Aoife – the infamous mother of the Children of Lir.
…Of how they undertook a spirit quest to save her and travelled through time to a distant past.
…Of how they met him – Amergin Glúingel, Chief Ollam of Ireland – and how they rescued Queen Aoife from the curse of the evil Ailbe, Queen of the Banshee.
…Of how, having fallen in love with Queen Aoife, Braedan decided to stay in the past.
…Of how Amergin chose to come to this time instead of Braedan.
…And ultimately, of how Braedan in the past returned to the Marble Arch Caves and there left this compass for them to discover and use to find the Spear of Lugh.

The story is improbable, to say the least. And yet, Amergin’s sincerity and skill are such that one cannot but trust in the truth of it…

@ O'Maille: Motivation...? Well, you already know that there is more out there than God. But these artefacts could change everything, decide the course of the war to come, and potentially do great harm to the church if the narrative is not controlled.

So... Find the items to make sure nobody else does? Find them to make sure they end up in the hands of the church, keeping in mind that pagan artefacts were often reinvented as Catholic?

Or because – and this is probably most important – your God-given vision led you this far? Don't forget what you saw in Boho before the battle...

Annoyingly, Uzma is uninterested both in cleaning up and in any treasure that may have been accumulated by the pugwampi. These have been trying days for the wanderer. He goes back and forth between the temple and the desert outside as if torn between the two. At times, he prays. At times, he whispers to himself.

When asked, he claims to be perfectly well and happy but clearly, he is at odds with himself. Before coming here, he seemed peaceful, if distant and odd. Now, his eyes shine with a fervour that does not fully suit his serene and passive nature...

Uzma kneels in the middle of the temple and prays aloud: "Sarenrae, your holiest temple has been purified! Gozreh sent his most faithful Mahdi through the desert to awaken the North Wind as has been prophesied. Call upon your priests and your faithful to sanctify this holiest of shrines that once was severed. Send them signs and tell of the return of Saint-Vardishal, Templar of the North Wind, chosen of Nefeshti. Invite them to this hall, command them to purify the home of this, your most loyal effendi.”

Then, with zeal and holy fervour, he turns to his companions: ”Together, we will extinguish the flame of Rovarug!”

Again, the sun-burnt druid proves himself ever difficult to understand: is he completely insane, or is his madness heaven-sent?.

It gets confusing with so many kings! As a reminder:
Boho < Fermanagh < Arghialla
Largay < Cavan < Breifne

No need. The mission as it was discussed in Tuaim is the following: convince the King of Fermanagh to intervene in order to force the King of Boho to give Fintan the shard of the Spear of Lugh, which was to be rewarded to him if he defeated Sean Quinn in a duel.

What must be considered is the fragile alliance between Airghialla and Breifne, to which Boho and Largay respectively pay homage. The King of Fermanagh will likely not want it known that his people have engaged in battle against Largay – just as the King of Cavan would likely not want the King of Breifne to know that his people have attacked Boho. It's a delicate political situation, to say the least.

The clergy shouldn't play a role, a priori, as this is a better for Kings and bards. However, this is Armagh... Probably, it would be best to let Kassidy ask for the audience. But there is plenty for the good Brother to do in the meantime!

Bruised and tired, and truth be told broken by two bloody encounters with the pugwampis, Uzma is more than happy to allow the newcomer to lead them.

"We explored very little, if anything at all really," he explains. "We heard the creatures as soon as we arrived, and engaged them promptly. By Gozreh, our path was twice cursed. Your coming is a blessing"

Uzma raises his hands in thanks to the heavens, offering a silent prayer.

"I have plenty of moments," Padraic answers with his usual lack of charm, inviting Kassidy to walk with him. Together, they make their way to the edge of the river, where Padraic is building a new home for himself and his wife.

With regard to the shard:
1) If you can prove that the King of Boho agreed to the duel and to surrender the shard if he lost, then Brehon law is on your side: by running away, Sean Quinn basically forfeited, and so lost. However, the only witnesses are yourselves, and the people of Boho who may not be depended upon to be entirely honest.
2) In your book, you find a mention of the shard having once been the most prized possession of the McGovern clan – a gift from Brian Boru himself.

Before leaving, you have a conversation with Father O'Maille in which he explains to you that while none would dare say so openly, most people have guessed that Aoife is the King's bastard daughter born of a slave. What few know is that King loved Aoife's mother, and that the Queen was always jealous. Father O'Maille suggests that Aoife is a constant reminder of the Queen's unhappy union.

"I told her that I would never return to Tuaim if she didn't agree. And I meant it," he answers with typical simplicity. "You're pretty much my sister. You should be free."

"Until my father returns, stay out of her way," he warns. "She really doesn't like you. It's because you look like your mother. You remind her that father loved another."

Thorun and Kassidy:
"The alliance between Airghilla and Breifne is in jeopardy, so the King of Fermanagh will take this matter seriously," the Queen explains. "Mulroney is a fair man, and he will want to avoid undue attention. If the Rí Ruirech finds out that his peace was broken, he will be furious and Fermanagh will fall out of favour."

She sighs. "Bear in mind that it is our foray into Belcoo, which started all of this; so our own position is precarious, to say the least."

"In any case, you must convince King Mulroney to send his most trusted Fili to Boho, to hear our cause and issue a judgement."

I am just going to say it: I am checking this thread every other minute despite the fact that the call will be made days from now! Returning to Myth Drannor is sort of going back to the roots, back to when I started playing, more than a few years ago!

CLASSES: fighter, ranger, cleric, bard, barbarian, rogue
WEAPONS AND ARMOR: limited (historically accurate)
MAGIC: while magic will play a part in driving the story forward, this remains a low magic campaign and choice of spells will need be approved

We are looking for 1-2 players. Inasmuch as it is possible, I will be helping players to develop backgrounds that tie in with the existing characters. Presently, we have a cleric, a warrior, and a ranger.

I'm not expecting complete builds at this point. Only perhaps a general idea of what the build will look like.

What I do want is a character concept, along with a brief description of background, motivations, etc. Keep it short and sweet!

If you posted to this recruitment thread in the past, please do not hesitate to repost if you are still interested. And specify that you posted when first the thread was created, to be clear.

PS: I will favour characters that have been imagined with the campaign in mind. Do you have a relationship with an existing character? Or with an NPC? Friends? Enemies? While I don't expect anyone to read through the entire thread, there is plenty of information in the Campaign Page.
