Could we skip to something to interact with? Maybe describe all the rooms where we don't find anything or just find more goo and move us to somewhere there is something?

Stringer directs Snoop to fly on to the next room. "Next room," he says as he pilots the drone from the back of the group.

This times 100. I think it's been six months of real time since we rolled dice of any consequence.

In many other games if there's nothing to find the GM will just say the party searches X rooms, giving their description, until something interesting or of consequence comes up.

Allie's eyes start to glaze over as she peers into room 4 and sees telescopes. Only telescopes. The boredom sets in so fast and so hard that she can't even work up a quip. She just turns and keeps going.

"And only the work of one of this mini-building geeks in here," she chirps at the room of models. "Man they don't even have cool guys with big shoulders and laser guns. Maybe they stored those in another room."

Seeing nothing to either shoot, loot, or make fun of, Wraith continues in her search, large pistol still held at the ready.

Ah! Okay, I hope everyone is better and healthy again. If you need to take some time to focus on that then by all means.

I'd say just Push more. Like, if we've searched an empty area just ASSUME that, yes, we want to go to another area.

Even better is, if one room is empty and the other room has something interesting, then in one post tell us that one room is empty but we find something interesting in the next room. It's not like we'll search one boring room and then decide to leave to go to Boston and open up a bar full of fancy characters and funny booze drinks.

I still wouldn't mind longer posts from the GM, though. When I see big posts I want to respond in kind.

Yes, please do describe what we find as we keep searching. Please don't stop until there is something that you know we'd want to spend more time on.

I also think this.

I would also like to see a bit more energy. It is dispiriting when I need to post something multiple times to get a response. I have done this more than once. I can not put all my heart into a post when I know I'll just need to redo it again.

Wraith had spent a goodly amount of time with the corpse of Lou. She'd seen dead people, yeah, lots of times. Lots and lots of times. Lots and lots and LOTS of times. But this was a piece of her history that was gone. Death, taxes, and Lou, that's how it had always been, so seeing him gone really hit her.

In her own time she rouses herself and trails behind the others. Without any action materializing much of the thrill had left.

"Natch on that, Grace. If this stuff was collected by aliens, and right now I'd need something proving otherwise to disbelieve, it would be in line to just collect one of -everything- to catalog later.

Oooo!" She squeals, seeing more jewelry for the taking.

She carts a few boxes into the morgue room so she can look for valuables more effectively.

How much jewelry does she find?

"Imma make sure to find his body. We...we owe him that much. Besides, I've seen too many people up and walking around when they should be taking the dirt nap. *snort* Myself included."

"Hey all," Wraith calls out, "this isn't very normal. Right?

Like, someone gets dead, they usually have, like, gunshots, or stab wounds, or a large amount of drug usage signs. But this? This guy, the guard, he looks like a stand up guy, from his picture on that desk, who just plain ain't breathing.

Anyone else wanna cut one open to see what's inside?

Alright, well, let's scan about the rest of the rooms but if it happens that we should've chopped all their feet off so that they couldn't rise up and eat our brains, Imma give you guys the biggest 'I told you so'."

With other rooms to investigate, and possibly steal from, Wraith gives off her instinct to start cutting feet off and follows the comforting hum of Snoop into the next room.

"Out of nothing at ALL--wait what?" Wraith says as Mick suddenly destroys her world. "They, what? Who...who would do that? Like, whoa, I love me some classical music too but I don't think I'd clone Beeth-Oven."

"I think you got the right of it, Salvo," she states, looking at the ominous black walls. "This is totally weird. But, like, we gotta see it through this time.

And no," she says, tapping her temple, "brought my own eyesight. But I got more to share, if anyone else needs.

Alright, we didn't get dressed up for nothing. Let's do this.

"Making Loo-OOOVE, out of nothing at all!" Wraith sings along with the most famous Air Supply song. Obviously she has been taken over by the aliens evil mind control. Or she has bad taste in music.

No longer seeing a need for stealth, she takes out the desert eagle and checks its load. Seeing the rounds ready and the laser site neatly scoped in makes her smile.

"Ya may as well pull out her big stick, Kat. The hall is rented, the band is struck, and it's just about dance time," she says, getting ready for...whatever is coming up next.

Wraith plays along with Stringer's line and ignores the prattle coming the guards' pie hole.

With great formality she walks up to Creighton. "Everything is in order, Mr. Stringer," she states, going stony faced and taking a respectful stance behind him.

Because if she's the one that just owned the guards, and THIS is the guy that she bows to, that's gotta be an important guy right there, right?

She waits patiently for the elevators.

Allie could see Mick's play. She knew what he was going for. They all did. It was a good plan, about to be strongly executed.

It was just the wrong time. Wrong time, wrong place. Anywhere else....

And Salvo was going to reinforce. Good boy. But wrong time. We needed to turn a flank.

The security guards she understood. She'd been in their shoes countless times. She'd known the dreky hours, the dreky pay, the stupid flash 304 inspections that not only check your paperwork, but also measure your security protocol to see if what you do actually -does- anything. If she had all the money they'd docked because she failed a 304 because the company had a drek system? She wouldn't need this job now.

Time to make something happen.

While Mick and Salvo engage the guards' attention, Wraith blends into the shadows. She ducks low, out of the desk-jockeys' sight, and scoots past the metal detector. It's not hard, they can't screw the things into the wall because then the very screws they use would set it off and ruin it. So they need to leave a gap in the wall. It's all she needs.

Stealth!: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

assuming that worked...Assuming that worked, Allie pops up, past the metal detectors. Now, do these guys do 304s?

Profession: Independent Security Contractor: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Yep. Most likely.

"Whoa," she says, popping up past the detectors. "You guys are gonna fail your 304s. Unless you let Mako through, then maybe we'll over look this."

"Ya got legs, don't ya?" Wraith shouts back at the uppity guard.

She makes sure everyone knows about the light machine gun then starts looking around for a spare tire.

"Ya got that right, Stringer. Nature is for chumps. Anyone, no matter who is driving what where, ya, someone should fix that flat."

Then she gives everyone a hand signal. It's a hand signal everyone knows.

It's the signal that says, 'We're better off with no witnesses. These guys could tell on us and put our lives in danger. They should be eliminated. I'll do it.'

Good thing she's learned to give this signal -before- she just starts shooting.

A headlong rush of hair and chrome darts toward you, enveloping you in a great bearhug.

"1dromeda! How ya been!?!?!?!?"

Wraith gets down two clean-ish glasses and pours two Chernobyl Cherries, for old time's sake.

Oh man, that game was THE. BEST! I don't know if you remember that first scene, the one at the office tower. I got up there with climbing claws and the WHOLE gang was there. Oh man that was EPIC.

I went back and re-read that whole game recently. The GM was so great. I was sad when it died when the GM ghosted.

I, uh, I guess they tried to get the gang back together, but I was on my First Hiatus. (I was changing jobs. It's was a wild time.)

Of note, it was that exposure to IZ that finally made me realize what a pile of drek the rules for Shadowrun are. I mean, they're on their, like, 5th ed or so and the rules are never anything but a pile of hot mess. (There's some article I kept flashing around. It made an example over the convoluted swimming rules of SR. It made a good point.)

SR is one of those game that has AMAZING lore...but crap rules and execution. Much like Battletech. Balls, FASA, hire some outside professionals to streamline this drek! (I think that's why HBS's SR video games did so well. Easy rules that were handled by the computer!)

But, yeah, Interface Zero is so awesome. I don't know why that setting doesn't get more love.

I mean, you'd be better off with a little chrome," Wraith pauses to lightly tap her chest, "but nobody's perfect.

Sleep it off. I highly recommend it."

Wraith moves up, examining the recent battlefield. It looks like something important still needs to be seen to.

1) GM, why are we making Reflex saves? I'm very confused. It doesn't seem that there should be saves related to the dynamite, since it has a -very- small burst radius, and I said I was throwing it a safe distance.

It still has a blast radius and there's a DC in the SRD It was minimal damage. No real serious in game injuries.

Okay, I'm sorry, it has been quite some time since I've played 3.0 so there might be something obvious that I just don't understand, and it seems like this might come up again so it may be important that we get all clear on this.

Allison "Wraith" WhiteAngel wrote:

A single unit of dynamite only has a 5 ft burst radius. I understand it has a DC, but I thought, and I may be wrong, but it seemed that that is only called for when inside the burst radius, and I tried to be careful to make sure we were outside of that. If I'm wrong about something, I need to be corrected.

Also, yes, I understand we're in an enclosed area, but with only a blast radius of 5ft, that doesn't seem so large as to bounce off walls.
Also also, even if it was larger, I don't think that are rules for explosions in small tunnels having a larger radius. I think there are things like that in, like, Shadowrun, but trust they are a convoluted mess. I'd rather just hand-wave that part and drive on. =)

You got the right of it, Mick. Other than explosives, we can't really count on much else. They might have biological rules that are completely removed from our understanding of such things. Just like the Loch Ness Monster.

Wraith snorts. "You wouldn't be the first, chummer. And those limbs wouldn't've been an issue if you'd'a let me blow 'em up. And I wouldn't worry about structural integrity. It's under thousands of tons of dirt and road and dirt roads and it's still standing strong, so an itty-bitty boom-boom ain't gonna hurt no nevermind.

Also the tunnel is now a giant alien stomach-intestine that's impervious to bullets. So there's that.

Yeah it's a massacre, Stringer. That's what happens when aliens decide to get serious. And even with all these bodies we still ain't found our friend. We owe it to him to turn back around and find him.

I don't know why y'all are insisting to go to the cops. This is gonna be like the Chinese invasion of Russia.

No one is coming."

Wraith frowns intently down the corridor, desperate to keep going, but without full control over her voice functions, she resigns to the will of the group and turns around.

Alright, it sounds like that's what we want to be doing, and I'm not one to die alone on a hill.

I still have misgivings about this maximizing the play experience, but this is a good group, so I'm willing to see how this plays out. =)
