My daughter and I are going out to eat. Might not be back by 7:30, so count me in as a probable no show. She once expressed interest in gaming, so there is a chance we will tune in when we get back.

I think I will play a budding illusionist this time, a child prodigy with regards to perception. I will probably take the Poor Upbringing ( Wealth) flaw.

My understanding is that a 4th Tier Dual Path PC has 4 tiers in both paths. On the other hand, he has a TOTAL of 4 path ABILITIES. Don't confuse tiers with tier abilities. Just because you have 4 archmage abilities, that does not mean that you have no guardian tiers. In fact, my archmage has 4 universal abilities including 3*Extra Mythic Power. That does not mean he has no levels of archmage.

The solution lies in the power point economy. The campaign needs to have enough encounters per day that the mythic players would run out of power points unless they conserve them.

Don't restrict the use of power points. Let the players choose how they want to spend them. A fun game rewards players for smart play. A DM that nerfs smart play soon has a boring game. Instead, provide more challenges, and more difficult challenges; enough that amazing initiative is no longer a "no-brainer" because the potential depletion of power points is always on their minds.
