Prologue: Katunda, 3453 ATC
Planet Dantooine, Rielig Steppes, Brhoomihg City

Dantooine is nominally known as a backwater world, and Brhoomihg is about as bustling as it gets around here. Forgoing the sprawling farms and vast estates that pepper the rolling hills and swollen plains of the planet's exterior, Brhoomihg isn't so much a city as it is a large trading post. Surrounded by a ferrocrete wall some three meters high, it consists of a cluster of dome-topped buildings and large trading stalls. The largest of these buildings appears to be a cantina, and the sign along the door reads, in Basic Aurebesh, "The Chipper Kinrath".

It is a crisp mid-afternoon on the green steppes, and the mood is almost palpable. Those from out-of-town glance about quickly as if afraid somebody might materialize out of the crowd and rob them blind, and there are far more militia guarding the only two gates in and out than are entirely sensible. The guards are little more than farmers, clutching old, barely-serviceable rifles and standing with frightened looks on their faces. Few people speak, and when they do, it is in hushed tones.

The Chipper Kinrath is much the same as any cantina you might find the world over--a large, circular room occupied in the center with an ovoid bar, tended by a gruff human with a shaggy brown beard and thick arms. Along the sides of the main chamber lie shielded booths--some for games of Pazaak, some for Dejarik, and some simply for drinking and conversation. Above the bar, a continuous feed to the Holonet plays silently on mute. There are few patrons here this time of day.

Feel free to wander around Brhoomihg and the Chipper Kinrath until the 19th, when the game starts. Your reasons for coming to Dantooine are your own, save for the Jedi, which are their own, and rather important:

As for the Jedi...:
You have been sent here without your masters. It seems that there have been rashes of food thefts in this region lately. Normally this would be something that the local militia would handle, but it seems that the thieves are surprisingly well-armed and organized. While THAT should be a Republic military affair, the Jedi Council has decided that the Jedi should take this matter into their own hands. This entire affair is very mysterious. Any questions you might have voiced were brushed aside.

Male Human Paladin, 6

Welcome to the character concept boards for The First Holocron. New visitors to this PBP game who are interested in playing, please check out the rules in the "Gauging Interest" board here.

Post your character concept--backstory, home planet, goals, species, etc.--on this page, and within the next week or two I'll scoop up a handful of players and we'll get started on our first session.

EDIT: Yes, this is a recruitment board. I've decided, after some deliberation, that 'first come, first served' isn't a really good way of building a group in this situation, and have opted on a more serviceable 'recruitment pool' as has been successfully used in many Kingmaker campaigns.

May the Force be with you!

It's amazing how a single line from a movie I haven't seen in years could ignite a sudden passion for running a campaign.

"Concentrate all fire on that Super Star Destroyer!"

I love Star Wars. Probably more than a should, admittedly. And as much as I'd rather play in one, I'd also like to present a story that can be experienced and changed by the words and deeds of a handful of brave champions. The purpose of this thread, obviously, is to see if we can get between four and six people who have enough love of lightsabers, blasters, droids and Jedi to play in a PBP campaign...

...tentatively titled: The First Holocron.

Let me get some things out of the way. Some ground rules, if you will:

1: A basic knowledge of Star Wars is required. And by basic, I mean basic. I don't care if you're not an elitist. You don't have to have read the Expanded Universe. All you need to know is that lightsabers are laser-swords, the Force is essentially magic, and that the Jedi employ both of those to keep the peace. Everything else I'll glean over in my GM profile if this gets off the ground.

2: Have the Saga Edition book and know the rules. I will be using the Saga Edition of Star Wars d20. If you're interested, please know how to play the game. Mistakes are allowed--you'll make them, I'll make them. We're human, and we're here to have fun, not be perfect. :D

3: This will be a Heroic-style campaign. That means: generally higher ability scores, slightly more leniency on the acquisition of Dark Side Points, and the seizure of your character if he, she or it crosses over to the Dark Side (with a high chance of that character returning as an antagonist, or to be redeemed). Sorry, there won't be a Sith hanging around in a party of Jedi, heh.

4: Have complex, story-driven characters. I love PBP games because they show potential towards heavy roleplay. This is awesome. Characters with rich backstories and deeper connections to their allies have more to lose and more reasons to fight harder. If your character has a deep, believable backstory, I will reward him, her or it with a bonus feat based on said background.

There are five slots currently open--one floating slot is left open for a friend of mine who plays in other PBP games with me. If he lacks interest, that slot will open up to others who wish to play. If we get enough players, I hope to start playing within the next two to three weeks.

Thanks for reading...and may the Force be with you!
