I have jumped ship on the replacement game I was in. Happily, they didn't get as far as we did anyway so not a problem plot or meta wise.

Yup, I read it. With everyone's interest declared I was kind of hoping for a LETS DO THIS, CHUMS. LEEEEROOOOOOOOY JEEEEEEEEEEEEEENKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINS post.

My impatience is mostly as a result of the fact i've stopped posting in my other WotW game and am seeking confirmation that I should jump ship on it to return to this one.

Thanks KM :).

Bump? This still happening?

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

I'm in. Especially as things are a bit too full of conflict in my other Wotw game.

This character had that happen for the last game for WotW I was in. Came to a 52 point buy using focus and foible.

DM AKU:

Alexander Kilcoyne here. I was playing this character in a WotW Play-by-Post for the better part of a year, the GM unfortunately called the game off citing busyness this week. We were still in chapter 1, but definitely approaching the end of it. Would you object to me applying for this game? I have no problem keeping player and character knowledge separate. I would submit another character with a fresh concept as I dislike re-submitting the same ones.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Ready.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

I think that plan is a little too ambitious Bostarg. We've done enough clandestine actions for now; its time for you to step up with your words and make this speech work in our favour. Tell us what you need us to do.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

I agree that we must take steps to shroud ourselves from blame. What do you have in mind for tomorrow, Bostarg?

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

The deed was done swiftly. A dagger to the ribs followed by the ritualistic placement of the body; the Desnan butterfly held to her chest as though she was trying to ward her attacker off.

It was only in his room later that evening, with no one around him, that Alazandaru began to feel remorse; and struggled to crush it under his will.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

I've actually been deciding what Alazandaru would do here... On the one hand his cold intellect and penchant for ritualistic murder (see backstory) would drive him to slay her... But killing a woman is a line he has not yet crossed...

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

That should be +10 above including ACP. Not sure how I got +7. Skorm's basic plan is to stalk her, slay her and leave her lying dead clutching her butterfly necklace to her chest.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Sorry got a bit swamped again. Skorm is content to watch and wait for now, but is going to pay special attention to the wait-staff with the necklace... and plans to stealthily follow her when/if she leaves.

Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Bostarg, level up your profile already.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Alazandaru reassumed the appearance of "Skorm" and nodded his assent, after securing additional healing from Tatya.

Wouldn't do to alarm the locals with his wounds. Couple more infernal healing's ought to do it, 37/45 is enough.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

I can carry his body clear, armour and all, if needs be. It would be a shame to leave such a beautiful piece on him.

Alazandaru is on 7HP before Infernal Healing; it will put him back to 17, which is sufficient for now.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Amendment proposal-

If either lackey guard survived their respective stabbings, subtly stabilise him and leave him on the road, as though left for dead. This sows unrest on the other end, at the fortress, as he will attest that Desnans slew the captain and rescued Hogan. Should have them at each other's throats.

Pros-

Causes the soldiers to mistrust the Desnans, sows more chaos.

Cons-

No real chance of passing Morthos off as Barhold. I'd argue that unless we were going to do that extremely soon though, that ship has sailed anyway.

One extra man to fight at the fortress when we take it.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

I need BAB+4 then it goes into effect. So level 6 for me unfortunately.

Without ceremony, Alazandaru stepped behind Hogan and bashed him in the back of the skull with the hilt of his dagger, striking him perfectly on the back of his head.

Electing to not add strength bonus to this, don't want to overdo it and kill him.

Non-Lethal Bash: 1d20 + 9 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 2 - 4 = 26
Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 2d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (4, 4) + 1 = 12

Er, oops. A good bash apparently. Crit confirm-

Non-Lethal Bash: 1d20 + 9 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 9 + 2 - 4 = 23
Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4

Well... that could have gone much better. I was a fool to underestimate the captains of the fortification. But, all things considered, our ambush was a success. Excellent poison, Tatya.

The situation well in hand, Alazandaru sat down and assessed his wounds, an inquiring head directed at Bostarg, who no doubt had a plan already forming...

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

I'm going to put poor Morthos out of his dice rolling misery.

The amazing parrying ability and agility of the guard meant little with all of his attention focused upon the warrior; Alazandaru rushed him and plunged his dagger into his back, using surprise and momentum.

Dagger Charge Flank: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 2 + 2 = 31
Sneak Attack Damage: 1d4 + 5 + 1 + 2d8 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 + (6, 6) = 21

Wiping his blade on the fallen man's clothes, he muttered to Morthos-

Just like we practiced eh, Morthos.

We're still taking Outflank right?

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Alazandaru stepped up to the man seeking to avenge the captain and met him in melee.

Daggers Full Attack 1: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 9 - 2 = 19
Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Daggers Full Attack 2: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 9 - 2 = 22
Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Lol :).

All credit to Tatya for Alazandaru's survival. And a ridiculous constitution for a rogue. The dice gods are making me work hard in return for their generosity.

My thought process was something more like-

Oh god, its the frog all over again...

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Round 3-

Still barely standing, Alazandaru knelt down, as much for the support of the ground as for his next move; which was to slit open Barhold's throat.

Coup De Grace Damage: 2d4 + 10 + 2d8 ⇒ (4, 3) + 10 + (8, 6) = 31

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Should have been clearer with my hastily posted action last round, but Alazandaru tossed the crossbow aside with the intention to use his move action + swift to draw his knives.

Barely standing, his mithril shirt cut open and a gaping wound to his abdomen bleeding freely, Alazandaru was almost too much in shock to consider his options. In a normal fight, the warrior would have considered a retreat, using some of the magic on his person to become invisible, bolster his defences and get back into the fight.

Now, however, Alazandaru was fighting for his life; and fighting to even remain standing. He brought both of his daggers into play, his desperation that the poison would bring the Captain down matching Tatya's, perhaps exceeding it.

TWF Attack #1 VS AC-2: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 9 - 2 = 20
Damage (Poison Applied): 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
TWF Attack #2 VS AC-2: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 9 - 2 = 22
Damage (Poison Applied): 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Even as he fought, a tiny voice played out in his head; one that sounded not dissimilar to his great mentor, Sir Balin.

You are being cut down like the treacherous scum you are... you deserve this...

If the captain resists both poison doses Alazandaru will 5 foot step towards Bostarg.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Round 1 Action-

Alazandaru fired off his crossbow from the undergrowth at whoever appeared least armoured, dropping it after the shot was made.

Crossbow Attack VS Flat-Footed: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 0 + 2d4 ⇒ (7) + 0 + (4, 3) = 14

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

I'd also rather do a council but i'm ok with either.

Sorry, I think my post ghosted I made one a couple of days ago. I'll post ASAP.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

I like the way you did it to be honest, would have done approximately the same.

I'd be in favor of Taking 10 for everyone. I actually made a roll for stealth on Roll20 itself but i'll keep them here in future for simplicity.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Two doses of Drow Poison methinks.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Go for it. I've moved Alazandaru to somewhere where I can (hopefully) still get a charge lane.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Poison on Alazandaru's blades would be nice :)

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

I think there is a misunderstanding. Barhold is leaving the town with an important Desnan in tow and he is accompanied by guards. Alazandaru is strongly urging the group to kill him and his group on the road between the fortress and the town, which has a bonus effect of implicating the Desnans! Will probably have to dispose of the Desnan too though.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Alazandaru had objections for Bostarg to consider.

They are taking Hogan to Belentyne however, so it sounds like he is with an armed escort. Barhold had guards as his disposal. If Hogan is allowed to reach the fortress he will likely help tensions die down. If he is seen to be taken there by Captain Barhold and then the group guarding him is slain... It further implicates the Desnans; especially if Hogan is not among those killed. We should strike on the road between this town and the fortress, now!

It doesn't read like Barhold intends to speak to Marlowe now.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Alazandaru will make haste back to the others and report the conversation in full detail.

I think we should ambush Captain Barhold and spread further misdirection... Perhaps we can kidnap Hogan to stir up the Desnan's as well?

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Continue listening. Lord Havelyn is the master of Balentyne right?

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Having reported his success, Alazandaru posed a question to the others.

One of the Captains had made his way into town- perhaps it would be easier to ambush him between here and the fortress?

Taking some initiative, Alazandaru decided to attempt to eavesdrop on the meeting. Using his circlet to assume a third face and persona in case he was found out, he attempted to infiltrate the house using his formidable skill at climbing and stealth. He removed his chain shirt, trusting in his talents to see him through. He hid knives on his person though, just in case.

If necessary, Alazandaru will down a potion of Vanish to get past any outer guards. Will include some take 10's to make it easier to resolve for GM.

Applicable Rolls-

Take 10 on Stealth, Climb and Acrobatics for 22, 26 and 22 respectively.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Don't think game is waiting on me. I'm hoping 33 was sufficient to climb with a body strapped to back :P.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Alazandaru planted the Desnan butterfly upon the bed, cleaned up the blood somewhat and placed a few of the dead birds around the human blood, in order to make it look like several of the birds were killed there, rather than a man. Once content with his handiwork, he tied off the bleeding throat of the dead man and strapped the body to his powerful frame with rope. Not wanting to leave evidence of his escapades, he attempted the climb down bare-handed, using his climbers kit where necessary but not using rope tied to the rookery.

As a final thought, he took the holy symbol to Iomedae and badly damaged it, leaving it on the floor against a wall, as though tossed aside.

Climb: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Is there an actual cage, just not in use, or complete absence of one? If there is, Alazandaru will hurl the seed inside the cage and shut it once they are all inside. And then proceed to slay them in a controlled manner.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Having dealt with the human, Alazandaru's swift mind began to search for a way to hide the body as well as seal off the window so he could kill the birds without any escaping... He took his time and searched the place; and the man he had just killed, thoroughly.

Alazandaru is worried that they will see through the ruse as most Desnan's wouldn't be so extreme as to murder someone. Better if the man "disappears", even if he has to take the corpse with him.

Other than Bostarg's schemes to make the town mistrust one another and drive wedges, the way I see it we have a case of divide and conquer. We don't want to take the fort on at full strength.

This means catching Captain Varning out with his patrol and slaying them to a man. If possible, spread some misdirection about his death, plant some evidence that implicates another faction is preparing to launch a frontal assault on the keep so that they are looking outward for threats.

That's when we hit them from inside the fort itself, using the tunnel Aedorn found.

This is our main objective. Secondary objectives should be pursued if they will either (or both)-

1. Reduce the strength of the fortification in some way.

2. Reduce the strength of the armed force opposing us in some way.

Bostarg should be used to set up kills wherever possible; in particular the captains.

To be honest, in my opinion poison use outside of meaningful combat is better off hand-waived as effective for things like rats, birds etc.

Obviously not for things like assassinations or in-combat use, but I think X doses should pretty much always kill what it should do, pest/animal wise.

So all Bostarg had to worry about is suddenly levelling mid-conversation in the meeting ;).

Morthos already has an evil aura.

Alazandaru set out to make inquiries as to the location of Captain Varning and when he will return. If pressed, "Skorm" will reluctantly mention he is thinking of changing career and wants to speak to the captain about recruitment.

Gather Information: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18

Alazandaru looked tired of all the musing. He looked directly at Bostarg and addressed him-

Bostarg; know this. I will be Moloch's harbinger to our enemies and in acts of battle and war, I will expect to be contributing to discussions such as there, if not directing. But this intrigue and cunning; this is your forte. In this; command and I shall obey.

He returned to sharpening his knives, sat nearby the discussions having made his feelings clear.
