Envoy Improvisations:
As you gain experience, you learn envoy improvisations—little tricks that bolster allies, confound enemies, or change the ebb and flow of battle using guile, inspiration, or luck. You learn your first envoy improvisation at 1st level, and you learn an additional improvisation at 2nd level and every 2 levels thereafter. The list of envoy improvisations appears on page 62.

If an improvisation allows you to grant an effect to an ally, you cannot grant yourself that effect unless the improvisation states otherwise. If an envoy improvisation allows a saving throw to resist its effects or requires an enemy to attempt a skill check, the DC is equal to 10 + half your envoy level + your Charisma modifier.

Some envoy improvisations are language-dependent, mind-affecting, sense-dependent, or some combination of any or all of these. These terms are defined on page 270.

Chosen Improvisations:

Inspiring Boost:

Expertise (1d6):
You are an expert at dealing with challenges that test your skills, be the challenges social or otherwise. At 1st level, when attempting a Sense Motive check, you can roll 1d6 (your expertise die) and add the result of the roll to your check as an insight bonus. You can use this and other expertise abilities as long as you have at least 1 Resolve Point remaining. At 5th level, anytime you roll your expertise die, you gain a +1 bonus to the result. At 9th, 17th, and 20th levels, this bonus increases by 1. At 13th level, you roll 1d8 as your expertise die instead of 1d6.

Beginning at 9th level, you have even greater expertise with skills to which you can add your expertise die that you have also selected with the Skill Focus feat. For each such skill, once per day when rolling your expertise die to add to that skill, you may roll the expertise die twice and take the better of the two results.

Feats:

Longarm Proficiency

Hold Breath:
A Floatborn woioko can hold her breath for 10 minutes before she risks drowning.

Low-Light Vision:
All woiokos can see in dim light as if it were normal light.

Multinational:
To navigate the evershifting waters of alliances and enmities between the scattered Floatborn nations and arcologies, Floatborn woiokos must be skilled at dealing with those from different backgrounds; they receive a +2 racial bonus to Culture and Diplomacy checks.

Natural Swimmer:
All woiokos are at home in the water and have a swim speed of 30 feet.

Skill Expertise (Diplomacy):
At 1st level and every 4 levels thereafter, you can use expertise with one additional class skill. You must have at least 1 rank in a skill to select it, and it must come from the following list: Bluff (Cha), Computers (Int), Culture (Int), Diplomacy (Cha), Disguise (Cha), Engineering (Int), Intimidate (Cha), and Medicine (Int).

Subspecies (Floatborn):
Woiokos belong to one of two subspecies: Deepborn or Floatborn. All woiokos start with +2 Charisma and –2 Constitution at character creation. Additionally, Deepborn woiokos are athletic and powerful (+2 Strength), while Floatborn woiokos are lithe and more graceful (+2 Dexterity).

Theme Knowledge:
You have trained yourself to have few presuppositions about the foreign devices you uncover. Reduce the DC to identify rare, ancient, or alien tech by 5. Engineering is a class skill for you, though if it is a class skill from the class you take at 1st level, you instead gain a +1 bonus to Engineering checks. In addition, you gain an ability adjustment of +1 to Intelligence at character creation.

Connection:
You were Cedona’s neighbor for a few months, and she was the only person in the neighborhood you really considered a friend. She had a pet named Cubber—a vulpine creature known as a squox — that she occasionally asked you to feed while she was away for work. You never learned what Cedona did professionally, but she seemed glad to retire from it. She was happy when she told you she’d been accepted to join an AbadarCorp colony on Nakondis, although it meant she’d have to find a new home for Cubber. Whether you now own Cubber is up to you.

Background:
Born in the corporate state arcology of Mantara Industries, Ainsemseo grew up among the sapphire waters and floating cities of the Floatborn Woioko. She has long been fascinated with the ruins of ancient civilizations. However, she was unable to access any at all on her own planet. This is due to most of them being either deep under water, and thus being currently lived in by the Deepborn, or else on the few islands the planet has to offer, which are considered sacred parks. Eventually, though, she was able to pay for a one-way ticket off planet, with a final destination being Verces. She had little choice in this destination, as Heicoron IV has little traffic moving through its spaceport at the best of times. She simply paid for transport on the first ship that was heading to the Pact Worlds. As it was, there were a couple of places she could explore on the planet.

Eventually, she managed to strike up a friendship with one of her neighbors, and Android named Cedona. She was really the only individual in Ainsemseo’s neighborhood that she considered as such. Occasionally, Cedona would ask her to feed her pet squox, Cubbers. Ainsemseo was glad to do so, and took to enjoying spending time with the vulpine creature almost as much as she did exploring and ancient ruin. When Cedona told her about heading off to join an AbadarCorp colony on Nakondis, and that as such she would need to find a new home for Cubbers, Ainsemseo volunteered to adopt the adorable little creature.

Appearance:
Ainsemseo is a fairly average Floatborn Woioko, standing at around 5'7" and weighing around 140 lbs. Completely hairless, she is covered in a smool, eel-like skin colored a deep purple, with occasional light green patternings. Her eyes are a deep green color. Her hands and feet both have four digits on them, with webbing between the fingers and toes and neatly trimmed black nails. Her face is smooth, with a pair of slits in the front of her face instead of a protruding nose, and she has no external ears.

As for her gear, she wears a suit of second skin armor that matches her skin tone exactly.Over this, she typically wears a short-sleeve black shirt, a pair of black pants held up by a simple but sturdy belt, and moccassin-like shoes on here feet. On one side of her belt hangs her handaxe, while a cane in a holding loop hangs in the other. Her acid dart rifle is doing across her back next to her backpack, which contains most off her other possessions. Beneath the backpack is another container, which appears to be specialized to hold a small pet.
