About Ailyn Dartherian
Born in Egorian to the Dartherian household, Ailyn and her elder brother Rhevan were the only two children of the diabolist Kalric and his elven mistress, Sylara Alledar. Their mother died giving birth Ailyn, and in the years that followed Kalric seemed to favor the girl over her brother, a fact that drove the young man to leave home once he was old enough to make his own way. Despite how close Ailyn and her brother were, Rhevan's time abroad changed the man, and when she was invited to visit him in a lush estate in the city of Absalom, she discovered him a far different, darker person than he once was. Possessed by some dark power, he held her captive, dragging her along with him back to Egorian to confront his father in some twisted attempt at revenge. His attack was timed to interrupt a ritual to summon a powerful devil, and in the confusion he slew Kalric right in front of his sister before leaving her in the burning estate to die. But though the ritual had been interrupted, the devil it was meant to summon appeared anyway, unbound. The devil, an Erinyes, strode through the flames to stand before the stunned and weeping Ailyn, and offered her a deal it knew she would accept...
Ailyn woke in a different part of the city, her memory a blur, but alive. But she was marked, an infernal mark seared into her flesh and her eyes stained a deep crimson. With no family left, her estate and riches destroyed, and the changes to her appearance convincing many that she was one of the tainted tieflings, she survived for a time as an entertainer. But the lingering words of the Erinyes that marked her eventually drove her to do more, to act on the desire for revenge that began to burn within her.
She left Egorian, returning to Absalom, but found no sign of her brother there. His estate was empty, and the Pathfinder Society, to which he had once belonged, knew nothing of his whereabouts. Knowing that the Society would give her an excuse to wander abroad and seek the man out, and help her grow stronger at the same time, she joined them...all the while feeling the Erinyes' infernal power start to grow and flower within her.
