Aerodus was always more trouble than he was worth. He worked with his father delivering supplies to the outposts of Cheliax. Though the roads were always safe thanks to the Hellknights, Aerodus kept his homemade weapon close at hand: a long wooden bat with a large nail driven through the head. He never needed it, but it always made him feel safe on those long, overnight treks with his dad.

What seemed like an average supply run turned into much more when Aerodus awoke to the sound of his father screaming in pain. He peaked his head outside the back of the cart to see his father being tortured by bandits. He grabbed his trusty weapon and jumped out from the cart swinging. While he managed to hit a few of the bandits, he didn't do enough damage to maim any of them. Just as they were about to kill Aerodus, one of the bandits received an arrow throw the skull, courtesy of a nearby group of Hellknights. After the fight, the bandits laid dead, but so did Aerodus's father. One of the Hellknights approached Aerodus. Seeing the long piece of wood with the rusty nail protruding from its head, the Hellknight reached for the weapon at his waist: a morningstar. He handed it to the boy and leaned in closely, uttering the one sentence Aerodus will never forget: "Take this, learn to use it well and you shall not share the same fate as your father."

Aerodus has since joined the town guard and has trained day and night for three years. He will not share the same fate as his father, but all those who seek to do him harm certainly will.
