Aw, got home an hour too late to post =) For posterity... As the towering giant form of Eshimka starts to fall, 575 continues striking at the much nearer foes. Flurry1 vs green, PA, bless, token: 1d20 + 9 - 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 9 - 2 + 1 + 2 = 24, for 1d8 + 8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 8 + 4 + 2 = 20 damage (minus DR).
OK, I feel better now =)
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
Gm, the Vukodlak should have missed, I think. 22 doesn't hit (even with the charge) due to the Protection from Evil from Corona (My AC is 1 higher from that). Needed a 23.
575 turns his attention to the revenant, lashing out with a pair of blows. Flurry1 vs green, PA, bless, token: 1d20 + 9 - 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 - 2 + 1 + 2 = 12, for 1d8 + 8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 4 + 2 = 16 damage (minus DR)
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
Hmm.. get tied up for a day, and now I'm confused! =) Its a double move to get there, and since Chou has charged in, guess we have to follow now...
As Chou moves to confront the undead, Zarnal quickly follows, closing with the blinded one. 575 follows tinkerer's lead, and charges in after her, leading with one booted foot to the things head. Unarmed Strike vs pink, PA, charge, token: 1d20 + 11 + 1 - 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 11 + 1 - 2 + 2 + 2 = 28, for 1d8 + 8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 4 + 2 = 22 damage. (minus DR) Will also burn a swift action to use the blessing of Vildeis Unstoppable Wrath effect, to become immune to mind-affecting things. Take that fear effects!
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
Would Zarnal have really burned off the drake benefit on an opponent that was already down? I seriously doubt I'd be able to heal myself, before Juxian's Life Link kicked in, and took away 5 of those hp's.... So 575 down to 4 damage. CLW on 575: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 575 eyes the next group of undead, with a strategic eye, frowning slightly. This next fight was the two revenants, and two something elses with wierd names. Creatures of great fear
We have two revenants both with AE fear shrieks and grab. And two of these vukodlaks things, with a fear/paralization gaze, and grab.
Would silence protect us from the shriek of the revenants?
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
I played a duel-cursed life oracle in a Serpent Skull campaign... 1-17.
It was crazy how much damage he took over the course of things. But was fun keeping track of all the life links and shield others and the like.. even more so once I had Spirit Boost. My group were all pretty much in agreement that it was the best healing setup they'd ever seen. And I didn't even have some of the obvious things like fey foundling Kept trying to see how close to zero I could get before healing myself...
But its not for everyone. I, like Corona, am perfectly happy sitting in the back playing support, so it worked for me.
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
Eshimka isn't down... the name of the condition and the description of what happened do not mesh =) Think my listed hp might be off slightly... 575 had 5 damage going in (though in retrospect, I think that would be impossible with life link =) Though immaterial as it would either be on me, or Jux) He took 16 from the fire breath, and another 3 from the negative energy... so had 24 damage total... we're on round 3, so Juxian would have siphoned 15 of that via Life Link... so the nagaji should be sitting at 9 total damage
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 The nagaji manages to resist some of the negative energy pulsing off of Eshimka, though he still winces slightly, as the dark energy causes his wounds to fester. With a frown, he continues throwing blows at the giant hound, hoping they can fell it before its sight clears again. Flurry1 vs blind, PA, bless, adversary, flank: 1d20 + 9 - 2 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 9 - 2 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 21, for 1d8 + 8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 4 + 2 = 22 damage.
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
His entire body aches from the fire, 575 continues to battle on... though he can't help but throw the occassional glance towards the battles waging all around. The scope of it all clearly has him pondering. Dark creatures of death
He throws a series of punches at it, while it is unable to see, then quickly steps around the far side of the hound, into a flanking position with Zarnel. Attacking it first, then 5' stepping, so it won't necessarily know where he is on its turn. Flurry1 vs blind, PA, bless, adversary: 1d20 + 9 - 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 9 - 2 + 1 + 2 = 15, for 1d8 + 8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 8 + 4 + 2 = 20 damage.
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
Darn... if he didn't have Trip, that 2 would have been on the fort save! =) So close! And ya, I was 1 square north of Chou when the breath weapon happens, so it will get me. Reflex Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 575 manages to dodge the worst of the incoming blast of fire... but not all of it.
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
2 rounds to buff? Not something I can do much of. =)
575 clasps, and unclasps, his fists, and moves in with Zarnel, trying to circle around to the creature's right. He forgoes the last few strides, as he leaps towards the creature putting the full weight of his powerful frame behind the first blow. No time to post much, so 30' move, single attack, using his Knockout class ability... cause hey, there's a very small chance it might work. =) unarmed strike, PA, bless, adversary: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 11 - 2 + 1 + 2 = 30, for 1d8 + 8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 4 + 2 = 17 damage plus unconscious (DC 17 fort negates).
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
As the ritual goes on, and the rift starts to contort and change, 575 can not help but steal nervous glances back towards it. In the back of his mind, he can not shake the image of eyes staring at him from darkness, and the voice that came with them. I hate to ask, but...
His trepidatious inquiry is interrupted by another wave of undead, and thoughts of the portal leave his mind as he is forced to turn and fend them off again. Defend the Site (attack): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
575 knows little of the skills required to close extraplanar rifts... but beating down the undead creatures that come to stop them... that he can work with! He leaps to front, attempting to keep the first wave of unholy creatures at bay with his bare fists and the occasional boot. Defend the Site (attack roll): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28 Am a little unclear on the last OOC comment you made...
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
Ok, am a little surprised only 2 of us speak draconic =) 575 tries to help steer the Drake to helping them as well. He has little skill at diplomacy, but feels he can put together a few words of praise, to help pave the way... and he does so, in the drake's preferred language, as he steps forward to address it. Attempting the Praising the Drake option... in draconic
Draconic:
Few of you have heard the nagaji speak any words that did not include his now familiar rhythm... but as he starts to speak to Zurhriga, his words in draconic lack any such cadence... perhaps slightly accented, but clear nonetheless.
"Great Zurhriga, what we ask is a difficult thing... for us land bound folk. But likely a mere distraction for one such as you." He starts, with an admiring look. "Throughout these forests, Eshimka's taint insinuates itself into this very land and the creatures that live here, enforcing its dark will on anything it touches." "Anything not strong enough to resist, of course." He adds quickly, insinuating that Zurhriga would never fall prey to such influences. "It is likely such a task will be outside our reach, so it was only natural that we would seek out one that has managed to scoff at such influence... and who's might could perhaps turn all of our fates." Perform (oratory): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19 edit: hrmm.. why do I feel I wanted 1 higher... =) Hmm.. is Eshimka male or female? Or is the 'it' pronoun more appropriate?
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
Hey... parts A-C have all had a free language on the chronicle, for 2 PP. So everyone who's played the previous versions, could have learned orc, sylvan, and draconic by now! =) Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 575 is on the alert, knowing that an airborne enemy is not something he is well prepared for. When the drake shouts out its challenge, revealing its presence, he steps near Juxian, in case it chooses to attack them before the others can attempt to negotiate. An unhappy drake
He mutters, pointing out the drake's apparent condition.
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
A heal check would be helpful, give her a +4... then a +5 from the antitoxin she drank... and 3 normal. That'd put her at a +12 ... so 5 or higher to save.
Otherwise, one use of the blessing of vildeis boon will fix her right up.
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
GM, you're missing the 6 swarm damage to 575. Think I'm at -32 at the moment. 575 sees Corona trying to get to him to help with his wounds... but then Chou Wei blows away the spider swarms, and he decides to take advantage of their absence, while he can! He stalks the last deathweb with stoic determination, continuing to move through the trees with short precise steps. Closing in, he launches two more blows trying to remember which spot worked on the last one. 5' step, then flurry once more. flurry1, bless, PA: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 9 + 1 - 2 = 23, for 1d8 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 4 = 17 damage.
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
Avoid the cleave, catch the vital strike... ouch! 8( Fort vs distraction: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
As the clouds of spiders chew at his flesh in tiny increments, 575 is able to fight through it.... but it's the massive set of mandibles that do the true damage, tearing into his body, and ripping at the flesh. He spits out far too much blood, as he stands his ground, grimly smashing at whatever critical spots he can find, trying to put an end to the thing, before it can tear into his companions. crap... this is getting nasty with the damage.... Flurry again vs red, if it happens to drop (pretty please!), then he will 5' step. Flurry1 vs red, bless, PA: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 1 - 2 = 20, for 1d8 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 4 = 16 damage.
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
It is all the nagaji can do, once free of the entangling fibers, to duck under the vicious mandibles of the giant spider creature. He wants to help team up on one of them, to remove it from the fray, but can not get to it. Instead he turns to the other. Using the movement tricks he remembered moments before, he lightly steps around a nearby tree, tand throws a pair of blows at undead creature! Flurry1 vs red, PA, bless, guidance: 1d20 + 9 - 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 9 - 2 + 1 + 1 = 23, for 1d8 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 4 = 16 damage.
confirm?: 1d20 + 9 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 9 - 2 + 1 = 27, for an additional 1d8 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 4 = 14 damage. Their bite has great force
He calls back, realizing how vulnerable everyone is making themselves. Uh... guys... it apparently has cleave, and possibly reach... which means each of them can hit everyone, if you're all standing adjacent... put a 5' step between you, if you can.
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
575 moves forward a bit, then ducks into the treeline, using a technique he learned back in Nagajor. Knowledge to id? Spiders are usually nature, so will try that Knowledge (nature): 1d20 ⇒ 4.
Not knowing what they are, beyond big spiders, he waits for one of the others to sort that out, as he pulls out one of his javelins and flings it at the one straight ahead. thrown javelin vs blue, range: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 - 2 = 13, for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 damage.
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
Really, they're starting us way back there? Shoulda pulled the canoe in closer =) 575 eyes the shadows and darkend forest around him, and frowns... nervous despite himself... still remembering the eyes from his first visit. We are here once more
He says, hoping to buoy the others. He will move with the others towards the stone circle, not sure what awaits them there this time.
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
Pleased to be past the waterfalls, 575 continues with strong strokes, quite comfortable with the effort now. As the stream widens, he thinks the worst is over... only to learn that as the water gets shallower, the rocks get closer to surface. Suddenly, he is using every bit of his strength on the oars, to try to and push the canoe past obstacles, before the hull of the canoe can break open on the rocks and dump them all in the water! Strength Check: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 2 = 23
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
575 eyes the upcoming cascade with some concern, knowing that they are all a bit out of their element here. He calls out encouragingly to the others. This river is strong
Strength Check: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 = 27 He starts paddling hard, trying to keep the canoe from striking the rocks, as they are forced to weave their way down through the rapidly churning waters. Huh... apparently I'm good at paddling!
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
575 had never had cause to row a boat before... but the principles were easy enough to grasp. The adjustments Chou Wei made, made little sense to him, but she assured them it would help. Str Check: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 = 27 He quickly gets into the rhythm of it, pulling the paddles through the swiftly flowing water with relative ease.
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
I suspect it will be Stuffing on the bow, Corona rowing in the front, in case she needs to interpret the chicken squawks... Zarnel behind her (if only for some angst as he looks at her back the whole way), Chou in the stern, steering... and 575 and Juxian in between the lot of 'em. It'll be an image more iconic than the Crossing the Delaware painting!
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
Ok, a chicken figurehead does sound awesome =) (I'm picturing your typical coxswain going 'Stroke. Stroke.' (or at least the chicken equivalent). Or would that be a henswain? Ha! And chou jury rigging some sort of Tool-Time upgrade to the canoe ('More power!')... equally awesome! Now I wanna go the water route, just for the imagery.

GM Aerondor wrote:
So one Lookout (say Chou) ... who can give a +4 bonus to one Navigator (say Juxian) ... who can double the success count of the three paddlers (which ends up being 575, Zarnel, and Corona). I suppose Stuffing could help aid the lookout?Hmm... Would all depend on the DC's I suppose
Might be exciting! Might be a disaster! Might be both! =)
LN Nagaji Brawler 6
575 looks thoughtful... at least you think its' his thoughtful look... it's kind of hard to tell some times. If we seek a fight
He shrugs slightly, not sure which way would be best, though concerned about resources in the long run, if they fight their way in. I'm ok with any of them. Though paddling the boats sounds fun... and different! =)
