The society likes to keep records of what agent do in missions. I learned the skills to do such reports but each time I do one or even try to make a Tale about a mission, I get it back as being incomprehensible.

This is the first thing that came to my mind, the numerous failure or critical failure of Smell of the Pines at his Pathfinder Society Lore checks for downtime.

I believe we had some time to do some healing, I believe some other party member are more proficient than the leshy which only has a +10 Nature to do some basic mending.

Smell of the Pines is a leshy made up of mostly roots, with a big potato making up most of his body. It wears some kind of heavy clothing, that makes its shape look more humanoid; its padded clothing has some light burn marks on them. As many pathfinders, it has a backpack and a couple of simple weapons, they do not seem to have seen much use. It is glad to be back in the Mwangi. The place is vibrant with life. It has its danger but which place doesn’t.

It listens carefully at the briefing, not convinced the pathfinders should impose their presence if this people wants to be left alone.
It nods to Merian, Rannarix and his giant scorpion, glad to see familiar faces.
To Tarkii and Rose it says “Glad to meet you, I’m Smell of the Pines.

Behind him a creature looking like a big red pine tree, similar to those from the Finadar forest, seems to be listening. It shares a light green rune on its forehead with the leshy. As Smell of the Pines presents itself, she does the same, only saying “I am Resinosa.”.

As you all gets closer to the corner where the pile of chests are stacked up, you spot a disembodied pair of elegant blue gloves busily clears chests off a table. The gloves make a “Stop right there!” gesture before signaling toward the table. They gently pat its surface, then indicate the boxes on top of it. The voice from earlier says, “I see you’ve met Mr. Glovely! He wants you to help clear those boxes. I’m, uh, underneath them. It’s a bit embarrassing. Help a poor guy out? Many hands are better than two! No offense, Mr. Glovely.” The gloves wave dismissively, as if to say, “None taken.”

Tiger starts helping, maybe joined by more of you. In a matter of minutes Biglock is freed. He then transforms into a large gaudy treasure chest with an enormous, shiny silver chain and padlock. See picture in tableplop.
He grins and presents himself “I’m Biglock, one of the best mimics around! That means I can turn into all kinds of things. Tables, chairs, you name it! And this is Mr. Glovely. He… you know, I’m not sure. He showed up one day and lent me a hand. Or two! Ha! We have what you might call a mutually beneficial arrangement. I do the talking, and Mr. Glovely does everything else.” He pauses briefly before telling you “We’ve lots to talk about!

For bravely rushing toward Rain to check on the leshy despite the creature next to him, Corona gets a hero point.

Despite the fight being over, everyone has a sense of urgency. Something is wrong as you’ve been assured that no creature could get into this room.

As the last creature is destroyed, Rain manages to calm down. It seems he was affected by supernatural dread. While looking through his backpack, he tells you “I took a few steps, then a few dozen more, but I couldn’t reach the door! I shouted for help, but nobody could hear me! Or nobody was there? I don’t know, it was like something out of a nightmare. I turned around, and there she was! I’ve never seen her before, but I knew it was her. Aslynn! Tall, dark, and hideous. She was dragging something, and singing… no, more like reciting poetry. That’s strange, right? And terrifying. Something about my nightmares coming to take me away. I tried to run, but she touched my mind! She took my nightmares right out of me… those things! Just like she said. Right out of my nightmares. I hope she isn’t still over there. I… I can barely think. It feels like the world is ending. I’m afraid I won’t be much use. Could you take a look, see if she’s there?” Just by the look on Rain’s face and the way he speaks, you can tell how much he’s been affected. He was probably close to dying of fright. His description of the creature as being out of a nightmare also match what you experienced, rather than made of shadows, they seemed to have the indistinct menacing shape of some bad dreams.
He manages to pull 4 vials from his backpack and hands them over the four of you that are injured. “Those are lesser healing potions… You seem in bad shape.
He looks toward the entrance “Is any of you able to get out of the vault? Or to peek down the hallway?

Those 4 lesser healing potions adds to the demon mask that Tiger found earlier.

This is a recruitment for a very special kind of table, so be sure to read everything first.

We’ve been doing a GM round robin (each player running a game in turn) but we only have 3 players left as I’m about to be the GM. We’ve been playing replayable 1-4 scenarios so far, and plan on going on with level 3-6 repeatables. We are looking for one, eventually 2, players with a character level 3 that are also willing to join in and run games for the group. The next scenario is 4-01 Year of Boundless Wonder’s introduction. The character levels are 3 or 4, so you should have a character in that range already. I’m new at play-by-post, this will be my first time, and it’s been quite a long time since I last run a game. New GM are welcome too. The initial posting speed was once per day but that’s not our actual speed right now, it’s slower.
Players and future gm will be picked on a first come, first serve basis.

If you’re interested, please contact us on the campaign recruitment page (or in that game discussion if the recruitment thread is not up yet).

The leshy, with Resinosa next to it, gets closer to the kami. It starts speaken in the language of nature, Sylvan, hoping that the creature understand it better that Taldane. “I am Smell of the Pines, a leshy, a spirit of nature in a plant body. This is my soul mate.” The leshy starts thinking about the perverted ritual that allowed its creation, but hope that the foul Abyssal energies are left over. With that last sentence, Resinosa also speaks in Sylvan, only saying “I am Resinosa.” It gets closer slowly, extending one of its root in order to touch the creature.

The Tam does not have enough movement to go into the corner.
He can stop moving and stay 10 feet away from Kal instead, but I wanted to:
- avoid providing cover to the other that are shooting,
- try to provide the Coordinated Shot bonus,
- have them be forced to guard step into a corner to use their spell like abilities, where they wouldn’t be able to move away afterwards,
- be able to attack next round.
If The Tam does not get closer, that means the blue daemon does not need to do his guarded step. That might be better as that would leave him in 10 feet range of Kal.
Also Yellow is not in the map anymore while red is. I think the wrong token got deleted.
I moved the Tam back and out of range.

The Tam tell the other telepathically “I can supernova soon, don’t stand near the enemies”.

It’s only a critical hit if 33 hits his AC, which it did. Also I completely forgot you don’t double in Starfinder.

There’s only 5 missiles. They only have a speed of 8, so aiming them at enemies in that range is better. Using the best modifier when shooting them, so avoiding having any penalty, would be preferable.

The Tam to hit bonus for gunnery is +7. far from the +14 of Umbro, and less than the +9 of Sister Maggie.

If you still have fame, you can use it. You have until December 31st 2021 to use it, after that it goes away.

20 feet of low-light around him

What happens when failing Acrobatics or Athletics check?
In any way, I’m assuming it prevents a charge.
I’m assuming standing from sitting is part of the action to move, the rules only indicate standing from a prone position.

The Tam attunes to graviton and starts moving toward where Colthan indicated the enemies are coming from, and can only see one of them illuminated by Kal Maar’s solar illumination. While continuing moving toward the same enemies, The Tam takes his mote in hand, that transforms into a sword.

Athletics DC 16: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24

He then deploys his field irising shield.

The Tam is a male Korasha Lashunta, a bit smaller than most. He has a beige heavy armour and a tiny blue sun flies around him; his backpack completes the adventurer setup. Even without his helmet revealing a face with angular features, everyone has heard about him, as he regularly posts video on SpaceTub and do lives on Fiddle. The theme of his first videos where about his physical prowess, mainly about climbing and parkour. They have changed since he joined the society as he regularly uses his mission content as the main theme, trying to recruit more Starfinders by showing at how awesome it is to be a Starfinder, see the stars and go to new planets. The Tam also has appeared in Live Exploration Extrem! and rumors tells about him playing incognito in a concert.

The Tam has the chronicles for those two adventures; he has only done season 1 scenarios and 2-00.

He tries to free himself from some fans and goes to see Zigvigix, Radaszam, as he’s interested in both factions. VC Arvin and Naiaj have given him some missions, so he wants to greet them too. It’s been a while since he met Fitch, but never heard of the new Dataphiles leader, Celita.

While the others parks the vehicle, The Tam chats a bit with Zigvigix. No rank in any of those skills.

Helping prepare food “Venture-Captain Naiaj, let me help you with one of my well known dish, field ration lettuce sandwich.” As no one seems to want to let him go in the kitchen after that line, he just helps move some plates around.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

The Tam starts a live stream on Fiddle about the event, trying to gather some interest.

The Tam is an Icon and has Celebrity, if that helps.

I’ve signed up. That will be my first PbP experience as a GM. I’ve run a couple live PF2 games before, and a couple of VTT game before that.

I’ve been looking at an opportunity to see my wife’s family in Japan. They haven’t met our newborn and only met our other son once. I hope my turn to GM does not end up being in that period, as it would complicate things.

If either of those element is an issue, I’ll sign off.

Iris just got an idea. As she knows the flight number and time of arrival, she wants to switch the display of its arrival and show it arrives at another gate, one far enough that anyone wanting to meet Tharsa would miss her. People waiting for the other passengers would be inconvenienced too, but their lives are not in danger.

She starts approaching the flight schedule board to look if the plan is doable.

My idea is only to hack the displays, or the computers behind them; hacking the whole system is probably to time consuming/troublesome. So first Iris needs to find how and what to hack, then to find another gate to redirect to.
If she can’t hack the system, she would have another option: use Holographic Image to change the displays. The first level option is just visual, so it should be enough. It needs constant concentration thought.
That plan would not work if the arrival are announced by someone or a voice. Iris would try to pay attention to the next coming flights and how they are handled at that gate.

Lamashtu's Madness to Brielle

Well… thanks… I guess?

Moise buried for Skizza.

Hourglass: When you suffer damage, suffer the scourge Plagued.

Explore and encounter harpy.
Before acting: Brielle is already there and has no spell/weapon to play, and I think everyone else too.
Use power burying blessing to add a d12
Combat 10: 1d8 + 4 + 1d12 ⇒ (5) + 4 + (12) = 21
Recharge buried card due to success on the check.

Brielle goes to the harpy spotted before, and put the charm into its mouth, chocking it. She then shouts to Lem “That what I was supposed to do right? Don’t worry, I’ll grab it back and give it to you.”

End turn and reset hand

Female Halfling Deck Handler Item 6 ×2 > Ally 6, 5, eventually 4, Blessing 4, 5 or 6 > Armor 6 Barbarian

Under Abadar’s vigilant eyes, Brielle starts looking into the shrine for any trouble. She finds another rioting mob.

Use power to bury my last card, the crowbar, to add a d12 to the charisma check. Varril recharges Troubadour (Core) to add a d6
Rioting Mob Diplomacy 6+#=7: 1d10 + 3 + 1d12 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 3 + (6) + (1) = 18
Choose to recharge crowbar due to success on the check

Varril’s Troubadour sing the song “Of the Halfling that broke the knees of all the people causing trouble”. “All the knees went boom” and he makes a loud noise.
On that Brielle shows up, her face red, with her crowbar in hand “Who’s NEXT?”
The mob quickly scatters.

Closing time
Abadar’s Law adds a d4, Lem recharges Bolas to add a d4, Varian recharges one of his last cards (magnifying glass I think) for a d4, Skizza recharges Blessing of the Green Faith (2) that gets discarded instead (just so that everyone contributed to this last turn), location adds 2 to divine checks
Closing, Divine 5+#=6: 5d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 4, 3) + 2 = 16
Location close: draw a blessing, The Hidden Truth.

Brielle announces to the team “Well, I think our job is done.”

Win!

This is also a game of resource management.

Our table had our share of brush with death in previous scenarios. Some of the player play more aggressively (this is my feeling), I play more conservatively so our healer can focus on them. Also our healer could very well get moved to another table now that we know this can happen.

In the previous scenarios, there was some hard to make checks for a party of tier 1 characters; blessing are the easiest way to get more dice. They can’t help if they are in the discard pile.

I’d like the Spell B to change Steal Book (not used once in 3 scenario) for Good Omen.

In case someone else is interested:

1. Spell B 1d1000 ⇒ 935
2. Blessing B (enough for everyone)

From last scenario, I will get Staff of Cackling Wrath, replacing Bestiary of Garund.

The skill feat is permanent. That’s very good, we should take her.

Move step: can’t get out of the Dam as Feiya is alone there.
Explore #1: War Razor +1
Autofail

Feiya found something that looks like it’s used to shave, and do not bother trying to pick it up.

Discard Fox to explore #2: Elven Chain Shirt
Recharge crow to add a d6
Constitution 6: 1d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + (5) = 6

She then found an armor, finding it does not weigh that much, she put it on.

Discard Apprentice to explore #3: Standard Bearer
Use power and recharge Elven Chain Shirt to reduce difficulty by 2
Diplomacy 4: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 acquired

She then sees a Pathfinder holding a flag. After a quick hex to help make him a friend, she approaches him, and taking her more innocent air, tells him: “Hello… I’m… a bit lost, would you mind helping me find my way, I don’t know what to do?”

The standard bearer answer, trying to look at his best: “Of course, Young Lady, we need to explore this place. Let me accompany you.”

Feiya answers, pretending to blush, “How nice of you”.

End turn, draw two cards.

Thanks to everyone for a fun game, I’ll hope I’ll see you in another game on the boards in the future.

Skizzers, you're not the only one to blame. I should have paid more attention to what happened too, even as I tried to. Before that, the site outage did not help either.

Skizzers, Dilapidated Plaza next card should be Fiery Glare as I looked at it thanks to the scenario rules.

I have a question about buying UPBs, do we need to buy them by the 1,000? Or can a character buy less, like 350 to build an azimuth laser pistol for example?

Also, remark that crafting will only allow you to make items of your level (because you need to have ranks in the skill equal to the tier of the item) while buying, from the Core Rulebook, is limited to tier+1, or tier+2 if it is on a Chronicle sheet.

In past multi-table online PFS event, the overseer chanel was on Youtube and made some annoucement like the one I mentioned. I liked it, it helped me feel having several tables going for the same goal, with various deed happening at one table or the other.

I really hope Paizo will continue to sell the EPUB on their site despite this announcement. I own a normal ebook reader, and it has always been simple to just copy the books on my device.

I’ve looked around to try to find some website that sells DRM-free EPUB from Tor and I can’t find a single one.
