Trying do define anyone in the warhammer universe as evil is kinda irrelevant. They are all evil. Everyone that we ever read or hear about is doing terrible things. Is chaos doing worse things than everyone else? Maybe, but trying to nail down alignments in warhammer is like trying to eat soup with a fork. Ya you might get a little, but wouldnt it be easier if you put the fork down and drink from the bowl. To the OP, I think your list of domains works with at least some of the published material so do whatever makes you happy because an argument can be made for or against everything on the list.

I can see where the player is coming from, though I don't think it's your fault at all. I never got this far in Jade Regent, my group got TPK'd early on (quite hilariously I might add) but I find when I play a game and am faced with opponents that outclass me so easily I feel like my actions don't matter. I am being railroaded to do what these powerful people want so screw it what is the point? I can choose to die or follow the railroad (death seems kinda promising). If I don't get a roll to even try it just irks me. I am not power gamer at all but doing well in combat and doing well in social interactions are completely different and just because a player dominates in one doesn't mean that want to be useless in the other. The problem to me, seems to be the social encounter design. It just seems bad (mind you I havn't read the book)and should be balanced. which is a lot harder to do than balance combat encounters, but I suggest balancing it all the same. It isn't as simple as changing to hit values or hp but give the players a chance to shine and make choices outside of combat. It differs for every group and its a lot of work, but thats the curse we DM's suffer.

In my experience, running an adventure for 2 players isn't as much of giving your players bonus items and more of altering the encounters to suit your group. With only 2 players a lot of bases will not be covered so you will have to find out what those are and how you can change them so they are still fun but also beatable.

Its actually an inherent ability to tell which way is up while in water. Not sure exactly why or how it happens but they covered it in mythbusters if you want to check it out. Obviously though this is a fantasy world so whatever works for you :)

You should check out True Sorcery by Green Ronin ( I think) it sounds like exactly what you are looking for.

I think something to keep in mind when creating races, is that less is often more. For example instead of altering almost all of the races ability scores just try and think of the 2 or 3 that NEED to be altered. It is very easy to make an excuse for an ability score to be altered for almost any race but I have found that it ends up being more troublesome than enriching. I find this the same for additional abilities. Personally I would remove the powerful build ability because it just doesn't seem like a race defining trait for anything short of a half giant. Im not claiming to be an expert in starcraft lore (only played the first game) so I could very well be wrong but I don't remember getting that impression of them. Other than that though I think this is great and I may implement it in my games.

So I was looking at another thread speaking of this item and a thought occurred to me after reading the helm rules
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/magicItems/specificCursedItems.html#helm -of-opposite-alignment

So the rules say that someone cannot return to their former alignment unless a wish or miracle is used. But then look at the changing alignment rules and I believe we have a problem
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/additionalRules.html#alignment

It says that a player is free to change their character's alignment so for example a LG character fails his will save and becomes CE. Now he cannot return to his lawful good alignment through anything short of a wish but could he not just change his character to CG or NG? ya it isnt the same alignment but its close enough to not have the character brutally murdering innocents.

I know the alignment rules are ambiguous but im curious what you guys think.

@blahpers you are correct I was mistaken, though it is easier to deal with ability drain than level drain for fund purposes as you have stated. the 7th level spell was me thinking what level needed to cast that spell

@blahpers the reason ability drain isnt as bad is a low level spell fixes it so it is not permanent but rather a temporary hamper, unlike a lvl 7 spell like negative levels (i think its lvl 7 but dont quote me on that). Just to be clear I am fine with temporary negative levels, I just dont understand permanent ones

So as a GM I have always avoided including monsters or spells that could cause negative levels. This initially resulted in my playing of ADnD where negative levels were way too powerful and always permanent (at least to my understanding of the rules, ADnD is not known for its clarity) and this just naturally transitioned into future games.
Now I was recently playing an AP with a new group and we came across a wight that we at first didnt know was a wight. We were level 3 at the time. We tried to fight it and it resulted in 2 of our 3 party to be drained down to level one and consequently they became permanent. We could no longer deal with the enemies we faced and we had no way of removing these levels. This caused me to read into the rules and the more I read the more they confused me.
What role are negative levels supposed to fill in games?
I cant see what they can be used for. At low levels the power of negative levels is too much. They can instantly kill characters and even if they don't, the characters will be marred by that negative level for a long time. this doesnt seem like very fun for any players.
Then during the mid game negative levels are not too powerful as characters will have access to spells that remove them in almost no time and while the negative levels are in effect, they dont hinder the character in any meaningful way there is no threat of death unless fighting a huge mob of these creatures.
Finally during high levels these negative levels act like they do in the mid levels except for even more useless. I find ability drain similar to negative levels though they fit much better in my opinion as the consequences of these remain consistent through more levels of play
So oh wise messageboards, how do you deal with negative levels and what kind of experiences have you have with them?

submitting half orc fighter if thats good enough for submission

Are we supposed to use character traits in our builds?

1. Well I have been playing rpgs as long as I can remember but most of the have been small short runs that are based mostly on ideas and rping rather than rules. Ive never done one of these online runs and I am really interested. What first got me into it was my friend’s dad’s AD&D books. We would sneak away with them find some sticks and stones to represent things and then try and decipher those poorly written rules with our 8 year old minds
2. My favourite fiction character is probably the main character from the series I just finished, Honouras Jorg Ancrath. I am a huge fan of Nicollo Machiavelli’s the Prince (in fact I wrote a few essays on it) and it was awesome to see a truly Machiavellien character in action
3. My favourite character I have created I think is a human woman named Liana. She is a powerfully driven character that has suffered immeasurable travesty from rape to torture. She is the daughter of a serving woman who was raped by a lord when he conquered the city she lived in. She later hunted him down and brutally tore him to pieces after setting her mother on fire and being inducted into an assassin guild. There is a lot more to her but there is just not enough space to write it all into here. Oh ya and she also was quite young when she accomplished all this
4. Well the character im submitting is still a wip, but I think what truly makes him unique is that he comes from a unique society (one that explores the idea of half-bloods) and he is also unique in that society in being an outcast of a society of outcasts lol
5. What I really care about is a fun. I have a good time when I am allowed to rp with the other players and explore the setting. I like it when a story is grabbing but not completely revealing. I don’t wanna be given everything I wanna work for it. Also ive had groups easily get off track on side tangents that are not even relevant to the game and after a while it gets old. If a GM has the capability to bring the players back to the game when they get distracted he can limit the amount of time spent out of character and he’s got my vote of approval.
6. Orange
7. No idea, I haven’t really played any and I don’t know anything about them.
Character and fluff coming soon

Do you want to use the rules for Monster characters and have him count as a higher level character from that point on?

I believe that would be the most fair thing to do so that the other characters are not underpowered.

My advice is to not ask for a special snowflake from someone who is new to GMing. I would allow it if it were my game, but the I've at this for 27 years. Your GM most likely does not have the experience to handle balancing between PCs and adjusting encounters. Further, would your GM appreciate evil characters?

Thx for the quick reply, and my GM doesn`t care about evil characters. Also since there would be at least 10 more levels until it is even an option he might be able gain enough experience to work with it. I agree though with the balancing thing, I am not sure he will be able to balance it properly so I think I might make the character and keep him as normal and save the whole lich thing in my back pocket until I can judge if the GM could handle it.

My group started a new adventure (lvl 1) and my character really didn`t fit the flavor of the adventure so I am making a new one by DM`s approval. Now my group doesn`t have an arcane caster so I am thinking of making a wizard not sure the exact details yet, but im hoping to incorporate illusions and necromancy spells. What im hoping to accomplish at later levels is to become a lich, following of course all the normal procedures for doing so that the lich section in the bestiary discusses. Now this will not happen until at least level 11 and 100000s of gold pieces. My question is, will this template unbalance the game. I have not yet talked to my GM about this as he is rather new at GMing so I don't want to trouble him with something that I believe can be better solved on these forums. The reasoning that I think it probably will not be unbalanced is that I will not have magic equipment as I would be investing everything in achieving lichdom. The problem I think that might arise will be, being underpowered before being a lich because of lack of magic items, and being overpowered once a actually lich. Anyways any insight would be appreciated.
