Steven Helt Wins RPG Superstar 2013!

Largest Open-Call RPG Design Contest in History Concludes for 2013

After 4 months and more than half a million votes cast, Paizo Publishing, LLC, publisher of the Pathfinder Rolepaying Game, the leading tabletop fantasy RPG, announces today that Steven Helt is the winner of 2013's RPG Superstar™ design contest.

Helt came out on top from nearly 1000 entries, impressing the panel of industry veteran judges such as Wolfgang Baur, Clark Peterson, James Jacobs and Sean K Reynolds, and overwhelmingly receiving the fan votes to win the contest.

"Combat, investigation, spookiness, and an interesting villain who, for once, doesn't have a motivation that's revenge, greed, or wanting to take over the world," says Sean K Reynolds, Pathfinder Game Developer. "These design choices really resonated with the voters and Steven won by a wide margin."

Paizo will publish Helt's winning Pathfinder Module, Tears at Bitter Manor, originally titled The Golden Watch, releasing November 2013.

The three runners-up, Matthew Duvall of Chicopee, MA, Scott Fernandez of Allen Park, MI, and Pedro Coelho of Sau Paulo, Brazil, have won assignments to write Pathfinder Society Scenarios.

RPG Superstar™ consisted of five RPG design challenges spanning several months, led by a team of celebrity judges, consisting of industry luminaries and Paizo game designers. Now in its sixth year, RPG Superstar is Paizo's annual contest to find the newest talent in game design. For more information, please visit paizo.com/rpgsuperstar.
