Looks like Fumbus might join the party with some stretch goals.

Looks like a great game!

Would it be possible to get it from GOG?

Maybe it will go to GOG in the future??

Steam works well in the US but because it's online some of the places I go it doesn't work at all. Normally places which don't have a good internet connection.

It astounds me that this is on Kickstarter. Paizo is one of the largest TTRPG publishing houses in the industry right now with decades of success, and BKOM Studios is a successful videogame development company that's been in the industry for a number of years now with quite a few projects under their belt.

That you (Paizo) and they, in partnership, decided that you need your customers to subsidize development costs is incomprehensible to me. This is a disgusting business model for you to use, and if it speaks to what kind of plans you might have for future projects, it's dire.

You seem to have a grave misunderstanding on how much money Paizo makes/has to throw around, especially for a side project.

And, I'm afraid, a misunderstanding of what crowdfunding IS. I wouldn't back some guy named Bubba Hotep's new game unless he had SIGNIFICANT backing by art/dev studios who knew what they were doing. Helping Paizo underwrite something has a significantly better chance of success, and a proven track record of good communication with their community. Yes, there is some potential that it means a better profit margin if enough of the task is underwritten, but investors still get product, and something else they, at least, find value in: supporting their hobby directly and whatever exclusive DLC is involved in the crowdfund. Paizo and partners get both seed money and, MORE IMPORTANTLY, a feel for the depth of interest in the project. Crowdfunding is as much about information gathering as it is investment. The cards are all on the table, and no is making anyone do it. You ask me, this is better than the stock market, where you actually have to be wealthy to get the best benefits.

Also a lot of larger companies use crowdfunding as a way to gauge interest in the product and to help with preorder numbers.

GOG is also online. But BKOM has said that you will be able to play the game in offline mode, either solo or using couch co-op, so as long as you can download the game once, you won't need a stable internet connection to be able to use it, whether that's through Steam or another game platform.

This is pretty much a non-sequitur. It seems obvious that the more more money you start with, the more you'll make in the stock market, other things being equal. When you "invest" in a Kickstarter, you basically get a fixed return on your money.

According to the FAQ at Kickstarter, they currently have no plans for a Mac version, and I don't do Windoze, so...

If plans change, I'll be in.

As others have said, you vastly, vastly overestimate the size of Paizo and the capital they have to throw around. And far larger publishers have used Kickstarter to help fund game development.

I mean, did you have these objections to the wildly successful Owlcat Kickstarters? Or are you just a concern troll who the mods would be better off banning?

Whoever it was that created the KS page, they spoilered the mystery behind the first third of the Adventure Path game. Not cool.
