Dwarven Paladin Champion checking in!

I'm working on a littlehorn minotaur guardian with Linguist dedication. Character concept is a curse researcher, so I'll probably take the curse-marked background, have curse lore, etc, and speak a variety of languages that feel related to curses.

I've got a Human Palatine Detective with the Archaeologist archetype. It has become quite the skill monkey. He has taken the Medicine tree feats.

I'm taking the Trusted Rival background. Haven't talked with Doug about the "work with your GM part" yet, but I imagine he is more of an academic rival with a competing hypothesis for what's going on at Bastardhall.

Alias and token pending, but I've got a first name: Pravo.

EDIT: For Farol, I'm not sure what your preferences are, but just as an FYI, we have several pseudocasters and no real casters.

Also bringing over from discussion elsewhere, we decided to go with the item array option for gear/starting wealth, rather than lump sum.

Female human Thaumaturge Soul Warden 5 | HP 58/58 | AC 20 | Fort +10; Ref +11; Will +12| Perc: +12 | Speed 25ft| Hero Points 1/1 | Exploration Mode: Search| Active conditions:.

Imma need some help/guidance on both magic items to get along with alchemical formulas. I expect to grab holy water and a healing draught. Beyond that?

I can make two talismans per day. Tell me what you want and I’ll make them.

At the current level you can make (2nd), the most useful to have on defaul would be Predator's Claws. Crying Angel Pendants will become useful in a few levels when my "Administer First Aid" does more than stabilize dying.

Our Guardian might like Bronze Bull Pendants?

If someone is focusing on Trip, Wolf Fang might also be useful.

4th: +1 striking staff

3rd: Thrower's Bandolier, which will make all your daggers +1 daggers
3rd: Pendant of the Occult or Shining Symbol or Mage's Hat
2nd: Maybe Goz Mask? Or, with your Charisma, Masquerade Scarf?

Ghost Charge, Holy Water, Elixir of Life, Antitoxin?

Hrm, mage’s hat looks nice. I’ll likely pick up that and the occult pendant.

The lantern spills blue light in a 10’ radius when undead are within 100’ and lights up to a 20’ radius as a free action. It will pretty much always be on.

Would antiplague be better than antitoxin?

I went with:

4th Level - +1 Striking Ghost Touch Pantograph Gauntlet
3rd Level - Crafter's Eyepiece
3rd Level - Aeon Stone (Pearly White Spindle)
2nd Level - Full Plate
1st Level - Purifying Spoon (Tablespoon)
1st Level - Cloak of Feline Rest

I’ll probably pick up a couple heal scrolls. Any other spells y’all want me to carry?

Throw a ghost touch rune on there and it's still a 4th-level item...

Got it, no preferences, I can fill. Currently am thinking of Witch or Cleric of we need now heals. But I like the idea of witch more atm

From a pure numbers perspective, is a chance at 2d4+2 (crit for 4d4+4) better than 4d6 save for half? I’m not really a melee character. I think I’ll get the +1 potency rune and maybe some other rune?

I'm not understanding the point your making. My point is if you're getting a +1 striking weapon as your 4th level item, you may as well put a property rune on there as well, since the level of the total item is determined by the highest level rune. Ghost touch is also level 4, so won't change the level of the staff.

I’m not necessarily getting the +1 striking due to fling magic and/or vitality lash for combat. Unless, there is a compelling reason to do so.

Sorry for my lack of clarity.

Grand Lodge

He/Him

Oh, I see. Yeah, I mean that's a separate question. I was just saying that if you do decide to get a +1 striking staff, it may as well be +1 striking ghost touch instead.

I'll say that none of my casters that carry staves have ever made a Strike with it, but my thaumaturge makes Strikes all the time. With Exploit Vulnerability, it's 2d6+2+<vulnerability>, which changes that math significantly, assuming you have a decent to-hit. Depends on the build. Thaum can actually be a pretty nice secondary striker, though, if you build for it.

Yes. My Thaumaturge does a ton more with melee damage due to Implement's Empowerment and Exploit Vulnerability. You might go for a Thrower's Bandolier with a Striking Rune to make all your thrown daggers +1 striking.

EDIT: My druid caster attacked with his Staff of Healing often. :)

Grand Lodge

He/Him

I'm surprised to hear that, with the number of good blasty spells on the Primal list. My caster druid has made a Strike with his staff maybe twice in 9 levels.

Ok this is Duzzaru,

For items I took:
lvl 4: Birchstaff,
lvl 3: Pendant of the Occult, Trinity Geode
lvl 2: Bewitching Bloom (Lilac)
1st: Walking Cauldron, Floating Tent (Pup)

Skill wise she brings Occultism + Society (Expert on both)
A bit of healing: lesson of life so fast heal on 1-action

Primal caster (as I played already Occult Witches) and want to try something else.
Patron Devour of Decay, Free archetype: Familiar Master followed by Sage ;) So I have 9 abilities to play with
My familiar would be Fey Dragonet with 2 abilities to spare.

I need ot decide on spells + am considering taking cauldron as a 1st level feat, so still some things to be decided

Y'all movin' fast — appreciated! I will be on staycation from work the last week of October and 1st week of November. I will hit the books and then kick us off on halloween.

To follow-up on Duzzaru, I am going in on Athletics and Crafting with Magical Crafting.

Thinking of using the Scrounger archetype to further get some crafting in there.

Any thoughts? Also, recs for my free four Magical Formulas?

Re: Skillz

I’m pretty good at diplomacy, but I’m a terrible liar and not very intimidating.

I’m good with arcana, crafting, religion, nature, survival, and society.

I’ve picked up quite a bit about Ustalav, the occult, and medicinal means in my travels across the country.

And I can still make a mean cheddar. I am also an accomplished chef (seasoned), so I will gladly cook for us all.

I’m worried that you won’t have down time for magical crafting. Maybe Doug can clarify after he’s had time to absorb the material.

I thought the guide mentioned there was available downtime

Well, yeah, true. I guess if you're not going for a discount, it only takes a couple of days to make something.

Currently debating whether to spend my 2nd level item on full plate, or to instead spend a 1st-level slot on half-plate and the 2nd level slot on a cold-iron shield boss. I have +1 dex, so AC is the same either way, but that Bulwark trait on full-plate might be good for survivability.

If Dennis is going crafting (and magical crafting), maybe I lean into Diplomacy? Thoughts?

Also, I second the full plate. :D

T, +10 Diplomacy

If you don't have a cold iron weapon, I vote cold iron shield boss.

@ Cheddrick: Are you using a shield? That would be a good reason to get Crafting up to expert. Also, one per can only craft one thing at a time, so it might be useful to have multiple crafters.

Well, my 2 cents. Bullwark is great as it let you forget about Dex => so going higher level it actually let you sink dex to 10, and never touch it and move that 2 points someplace else (like to CHA ;) for lack of better places

Beside bulwark it is the same, but bulwakr makes a difference.

I wasn't planning on taking magical crafting. I'm mostly building crafting/Quick Repair so I can fix my shield effectively when it takes damage.
