Apologies, I have a lot of stuff going on today specifically and I won't be able to get a post in.

Okay, things are gonna be really really busy for me these next 2 weeks, so I’ll kinda be sporadic and, unfortunately, my PbPs will likely be the things taking the hit.

Next Monday (1/19) I’ll be out of town and likely won’t be able to get a post in.

I also have a very important event happening on 1/22, and a LOT of my energy will be dedicated toward that during these next 2 weeks. I will DEFINITELY not be able to get a post in on 1/22 and might have to take some days here and there of not posting so I don’t burn myself out.

I will try to communicate to the best of my ability if I can or cannot post on a given day. This event on 1/22 is one that I’ve been preparing for (perhaps unhealthily, if I’m being honest) for several months and it’s essentially a “Priority 0” in my life right now.

Please be patient with me. I apologize that I’ve been more sporadic these past few months. I promise things will get better once this situation passes.

Finally, did anyone want to do anything with the swords Blood-Drinker and Fleshrender that y’all found?

Anyway, if nobody has anything else to ask Behezamine, then y'all only have the portal left, so I would like to ask how y'all plan to prepare to go through a door that was described as "on a scale of one to ten [with how much heat there is], the answer is 'yes'"?

Janna has Energy Mutagens she could make with quick alchemy, but they only last for 10 minutes so I'm not sure how useful they'd be. We could open the door, get Yujin to dip her toes in and see what we're dealing with and then plan it out based on the results? If she instantly disintegrates we've made a huge mistake

The unique swords are cool. Yujin would use them but only if no one else wants them first. Yujin doesn't melee that much so it'd be better with someone who does in my opinion.

Suryo has two specialized blades already, but more importantly I think somebody with dual-wield / twinning feats should get first crack at the pair (since they seem to be complementary).

I think that test is a good start.

I think 10 minutes on the mutagens is enough. Yujin unfortunately does not have any spells to increase anyone's fire resistance.

I suppose if she rested she could do them using Advanced Alchemy and then they'd last an hour, but it's probably worth doing a test first. If it's more like severe or extreme heat we'd be looking more at something like Environmental Endurance, and for that we'd want to pop out and get some scrolls I suppose.

Ajoran's functionality is tied pretty closely to what he's holding, which precludes the fancy twin blades from use in anything beyond 'awkward emergency' so I'll happily let someone else take them.

Well, maybe Suryo should take those blades then. In that case, would someone like the searing blade in exchange? Maybe storm flash too. Suryo have 5 blades seems absurd.

Yes, I know I can pick different dragons to turn into, but thematically, Yujin will turn into a sovereign dragon probably every time. Her draconic bloodline is from a sovereign dragon is it feels most natural for her.

She gets resist 10 mental from it.

No no no, you'd only get the "Tradition Resistance" if the tradition of the dragon you choose AND the tradition of magic you CAST IT WITH match. You chose an occult dragon with a divine spell, so you wouldn't get the "Tradition Resistance"

That's dumb but you are right. 2E is needlessly complicated a lot of times. I'll still stick with the dragon I chose. I doubt these enemies will be doing mental damage anyway.

I've just discovered while reading about the Dark Archive remaster (Psychic nerfs boo) that I've been using the Shadow Signet with amped psi cantrips illegally:

On the plus side I've been leaning on the side of not using it recently since I'm mostly having to guess and the target is frequently off-guard, but I did use it a fair amount on the gorumites.

For my penance it sounds like I'm going to get a downgrade of Imaginary Weapon down to d6s.

Honestly, I feel like the nerfs were kinda necessary. Every time I see imaginary weapon go off, my first instinct always is “that seems like a LOT of damage on a non-crit.” It’ll basically just change from an average of 88 damage per blade to 72 per blade. That is a decrease, but I still think that it’s formidable.

Yes I do think d6s are probably right for Imaginary Weapon, and I like that it's Force now (I think anyway, I don't have the remaster pdf).

I was secretly hoping for a little buff in exchange for the psychic losing their unique double-refocus ability in the remaster now since they more-or-less gave it to everyone. Unleash with initiative had been my hope, or some other benefit on the first round. I miss all the Detect Thoughts you could cast from 1e. Never mind though, I still think it's a great class.

Reviewing my spells, I think I may have shorted myself on the spells known that I am supposed to have. Can you please check if you get a chance?

Under spell repertoire, it says: "At 2nd level, you select another 1st-rank spell; at 3rd level, you select two 2nd-rank spells, and so on."

But I was reading that this is a mistake, and it should say at 3rd level, you select three 2nd-rank spells, and so on."

Xavier, you know the rules better than me, so just see if I need any corrections or not. Maybe it doesn't.

And the reason I'm missing an extra 1st and 3rd level spell is because I think I misunderstood Basic Red Mantis Magic. I replaced an oracle spell known with a red mantis spell, but I now think the spells from Red Mantis Magic should be in addition to my oracle spells known.

Please let me know if this is correct.

9th level spells: foresight, massacre (signature), voracious gestalt (assuming I get 3 spells)

Ancestry feat: form of the dragon

Extreme curse: cursebound max increases to 4

Greater mysterious resolve: Your proficiency rank for Will saves increases to legendary. When you roll a success on a Will save, you get a critical success instead. When you roll a critical failure on a Will save, you get a failure instead. When you fail a Will save against a damaging effect, you take half damage.

Skill Increase: Athletics to Master

I'll get the character sheet fixed up when I get a chance.

Implement Paragon: Tome. While holding his tome, Ajoran can always roll a skill check for initiative against creatures or haunts using Esoteric Lore. If he does, he gains a +3 circumstance bonus to your initiative roll.

The initiate benefit's circumstance bonus to Recall Knowledge from holding his tome increases from +1 to +2. When he succeeds at the Recall Knowledge check granted by the tome's adept benefit, the bonus applies to all attack rolls he makse before the start of his next turn, not just your next one. Lastly, when he gains temporary skill proficiencies, both are legendary.

I've updated my full sheet now. I did notice the ancestry feat is called Shory Aerialist, and while common she technically doesn't qualify for it since she can't actually cast Fly, she is just constantly affected by it, but hopefully we can handwave that as I feel like getting better at flying seems like a natural consequence of flying constantly and a it does very little.

Xavier, you know the rules better than me, so just see if I need any corrections or not. Maybe it doesn't.

I believe this is a recurring thing that people have been trying to push for an erratum on. Oracle was originally a 3-spell-slot-per-rank class and it was changed to 4-slot in the Remaster, but I think they forgot to update the wording.

I would say it works like this:

For Red Mantis spells: you have 2 cantrips, and 1 slot of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rank. These are prepared slots that can used to prepare any divine spell OR any spell listed in the Red Mantis Magic School

For Oracle spell repertoire: You have 5 cantrips of your choice and 4 spells per rank in your repertoire of your choice. THEN you have spells added from your mystery (ignition, breathe fire, blazing bolt, and fireball) and Divine Access (you chose Desna, so sleep, translocate, and dreaming potential [though I’d let you choose illusory scene instead, as per the PFS note])

So for Oracle repertoire:
Cantrips 6 (ignition plus 5 others)
1st-rank 6 (breathe fire, sleep, plus 4 others)
2nd-rank 5 (blazing bolt plus 4 others)
3rd-rank 5 (fireball plus 4 others)
4th-rank 5 (translocate plus 4 others)
5th-rank through 8th-rank 4 (your choice)
9th-rank 3 (your choice)

Gifted Power:
And the Gifted Power feat gives you an additional 9th-rank slot which you can only use to cast blazing bolt, breathe fire, fireball, sleep, or translocate; and it’s heightened to 9th-rank (irrelevant of signature spells).

Pick 2 more 1st-rank spells
Pick 1 more 2nd-rank spell (and choose a Red Mantis spell to prepare in your 2nd-rank slot)

Janna
Imaginary weapon: changes to d6s and force damage
Distortion lens 5-foot burst instead of 5-foot square. Locks in place when you amp it.

Ajoran
Resolve --> Disciplined Mind
Greater Resolve --> Perfected Mind
Juggernaut --> Earned Resilience

Otherwise, everything else works as they have been before.

I suppose if she did start falling immediately should could perhaps Grab and Edge as she started to fall and stay at 30 feet.

If that worked, then Ajoran could cast Translocate next round to get to 180 feet, then Fly the rest of the way. Janna could either do the same thing, or if she failed to grab an edge combine another Amped Warp Step with a Translocate to do the whole 200 feet on the next round.

If the whole thing doesn't work I'm not sure she can be much help to Ajoran, I believe the best she can do with a Tesseract Tunnel is 15 feet straight up this round which isn't that much help. An alternative would be Ajoran goes first and readies a Fly action after being teleported so he doesn't fall, then on his next turn he can Fly + Translocate to escape?

I'm assuming that a flying creature who is willingly teleported by an ally outside of their turn remains flying, so long as they took an action to fly the previous turn.

Or, in this case, Ajoran has not begin his turn so he would presumably have to Fly or Hover to maintain his altitude, which could be mixed with a translocate of up to 120 feet easily enough.

And hey, as a complet eside note, can I just say that these last few scenes have been an absolute treat? I know the term 'epic' has been done to death, but I can't think of a single word to better capture the essence of this divine spectacle. I'm having a great time reading through the descriptive text.

Yeah...long story short, I forgot to delete a line of code I had intended to delete, so I was basically going off of a COMPLETELY different set of numbers with what Temperbrand rolled. I've posted in Gameplay correcting that and putting the correct damage values in there.
