@Phntm888: I'm thinking of having Jaath take Force Perception, a fairly low key and subtle talent, and be relatively unaware that he is Force Sensitive at all. Though, if pressed, he'd admit that he doesn't always know WHY he just 'knows' things or notices things that other people don't.
What, if anything, this tie to the Force grows into will be based entirely upon how things go in game.
How's that?
Gotal of Umbara
Gotal was born on Umbara in the Year 52 BBY. Found by the Jedi order at a young age he knows very little of his parents or his heritage.
Gotal took well to negotiations as a youngling and was interested in diplomacy and problem solving, seeking to become a Jedi Consular. However, despite these leanings he was placed into apprenticeship with Eeth Koth the Zabrek Jedi Master. As Gotal’s skills developed along a “normal” progression, he began to develop powers that allowed him to cloak himself and create illusions with the force. Koth surmised that it may have been born out of Gotal’s own heritage as the Umbaran’s as a race were particularly adept at stealth naturally.
By the time Gotal was a young man, it was clear that the training styles of Master Koth and Gotal were not compatible, Koth was a warrior and Gotal was not. He made the unusual request of switching Masters and Koth readily agreed suggesting Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas, a Jedi Consular to be a good fit.
In 32 BBY, Gotal met briefly with his new Master and was introduced as the Master’s new apprentice to Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum. Within the week though, Master Dyas embarked on a mission that he stated Gotal would be unable to accompany him on, telling him no details. Sifo-Dyas asked the Supreme Chancellor to allow Gotal to shadow low level diplomats within the Galactic Senate until his return when Gotal’s training would begin in earnest.
Within a few weeks, he met the affable Bail Organa who at the time was the Alderaanian Governor. The two charismatic men took a liking to one another and Organa agreed to allow Gotal to aid him in negotiations with respect to certain contract disputes where appropriate. During that time, Gotal began to assist Alderaanians with negotiations involving the Techno Union, specifically their subsidiary Republic Sienar Systems to develop at least one, if not a fleet of, luxury pleasure craft.
Before Organa left Coruscant to seek to run in the Senate elections, he introduces Gotal to a new Senator that he believes is genuine and that the young Jedi can trust, the Senator from Chandrila, Mon Mothma. Gotal continues to work with the Alderaanians and now the Chandrilans in negotiations with Sienar’s Raith Sienar himself. Being thrown into his passion with such zeal, Gotal does not question a communication from Master Dyas to simply continue what he is doing and that his training to be a Consular will continue once Dyas returns from a secret mission issued by the Jedi Council itself!
Once Bail Organa gives up his position as Governor and returns as a Senator, Gotal continues to work closely with Alderaan as one of the more peace loving planets in the Republic and negotiates many deals on their behalf, expanding his diplomatic ties to Kuat Drive Yards executives, this time to assist Aledraan and Chandrila in securing non luxury starships. Some say that Gotal favors the Alderaanians improperly but he pays little attention to such rumors.
After several years of simply not hearing from Master Dyas, Gotal reaches out to the Jedi. So immersed in his work was Gotal that it did not occur to him that Dyas had essentially abandoned his training! In BBY 25, Gotal met with Nahdar Vebb who was apprenticed to Master Kit Fisto. Vebb agreed to assist Gotal in furthering his own training and stated that once Vebb’s training was complete, it made sense for Gotal to fall under the tutelage of Master Fisto. Gotal was dismayed to learn from Vebb that Master Sifo-Dyas has died on his mission! But, who was Gotal to question the will of the Council for not pulling him back from his assignment with Organa, after all, surely they were aware that Master Dyas has assigned him as an attache, no?
Gotal was excited at the prospect of studying under Master Fisto and spent more time in the Jedi Temple seeking to enhance his own abilities in stealth awaiting the time in which he could pursue his apprenticeship. He split his time still working with the Alderaanians though his contact with the Senators Organa and Mothma had become more and more limited over the years due to many crisis’ between the Trade Federation blockade and the burgeoning Separatist Crisis. Sienar during this time introduced Gotal to Foreman Wat Tambor of the Techno Union himself though the introduction did not lead to any significant contract negotiations, yet. Vebb did teach him that not only could a Consular seek further diplomatic insights through the force, but that the force could also be used to heal injuries!
After the battle of Geonosis, Gotal was called upon by both Raith Seinar and Foreman Wat Tambor to assist in negotiations to convince the Senate that the Techno Union was still neutral. The negotiations resulted in the agreement that the Kuat Drive Yards would construct warships for the Republic. Gotal was quite proud to be on the negotiations team to ensure that further violence did not break out with a critical member of the Senate and keep such an important conglomerate neutral, well at least away from the Separatists.
Within the week, the galaxy changed, on Gotal's 30th birthday no less, as Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was granted emergency powers and declared war on the Separatists. Shockingly, the Jedi became embroiled in the Clone Wars.
Gotal was fully taken by Vebb as an apprentice as Master Fisto was called to be a General in the Galactic Army. Vebb’s abilities though were soon sought after as a Jedi Healer. The violence against Vebb’s homeworld of Dac, changed the Jedi Knight. Gotal was not accustomed to such vitriol from Vebb and refused to accompany Vebb when he went to war. Gotal, silently, spurned the Jedi Order once the War began. He saw the Jedi involvement in the War as abhorrent and refused participation.
As weeks of war turned into months and the conflagration widened across the galaxy, Gotal continued to resist the call to enter the war fully and traveled, though some say fled, to Alderaan. Gotal’s resolve was further cemented when he learned of his old Master Koth leaving the order (and he sat on the Council!) as well as the tragic death of his friend and mentor, Vebb. Coupling those incidents with how the Order ignored him after Master Sifo-Dyas’ death, it was, in Gotal’s mind, entirely justified to sit out this war until the Jedi Council came to its senses and returned to a position of neutrality, seeking to Mediate and end to the war instead of lead the charge of only one side in the war.
As the Clone Wars ended, Gotal was horrified at what happened at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and was suspicious of the Empire's "explanation” for what took place. Certainly the Order made an error in so directly pursuing the war as generals, but he could not believe that Master Yoda, or anyone else on the Council, would ever seek to usurp the Republic. As a Jedi not part of the Order, he would not have been "in the line of fire" when Order 66 took place. Having pulled away, he would not be aware of Kenobi's message. Gotal decided to remain on Alderaan and see how things played out, especially once Senator Organa returned to Alderaan. Well, Gotal hoped he would return soon anyway!
The week after the War, Gotal was still on Alderaan negotiating a corporate contract for a development company seeking to assist people who were ravaged by the War when Clone Troopers attempted to assassinate him. Only through his force powers of stealth and illusion was he able to fake his own death and flee Alderaan. Unsure if he could trust Senator Organa, or his people, as Organa had not been on Alderaan in months if not years at this point, Gotal utilized his powers to stow away on the Corellian Run trade route to the Outer Rim.
Posing as a spacer, Gotal ended up on Lasan. He sought out work as a contract negotiator and befriended in a cantina a member of the Honor Guard of Lasan, Garazeb Orrelios, Zeb for short. Gotal spent almost a year on Lasan but his luck ran out when he was recognized by a pair of stormtroopers as a rogue Jedi. They followed him into the streets and attempted to seize him when Zeb intervened. With his help, the two overcame the stormtroopers. Zeb could have claimed a reward on Gotal, but instead aided him in escaping Lasan.
It was becoming more and more clear that the Empire would target any Jedi in their purges, whether part of the war or not. Gotal decided that he needed to stop running and seek assistance from whatever Jedi were left to complete his training. It was a risk heading back to the Core but staying in one place too long even in the Outer Rim was clearly not safe either. The Umbaran has arrived on Sel Zonn station orbiting the Core World of Brentaal. Where he goes from here he is not certain, hopefully some Jedi besides himself have survived the Purges and he finds them before the Empire finds him...
Backstory Notes:
The reason Gotal dislikes the Empire.
Gotal is Jedi and they hate him more than he hated them, at least at first. Though living within the Galaxy since the Galactic Empire was “unveiled” it is clear that this is not some sort of improvement over the Republic, it is something much more sinister and less safe, especially for non-Humans.
Three people your character knows. These can be enemies, allies, or contacts your character trusts/mistrusts. Also tell me whether or not your character knows they are alive or if your character thinks they are dead.
Raith Seinar – The President of Republic Sienar Systems. As the company and its Parent, Kuat Drive Yards, are manufacturing weapons at a rapid pace for the Galactic Empire, Gotal assumes that contacting him would be a mistake. He knows him to still be alive.
Garazeb Orrelios, Zeb – Member Honor Guard of Lasan. Gotal would love to have Zeb as a companion, but the Umbaran assumes that he will never see Zeb again considering he lives on a remote Outer Rim world. There is probably no way that Gotal can ever repay him for what he did, though he would certainly like to. Gotal assumes Zeb is still alive.
Mon Mothma – Senator from Chandrila. Gotal has not seen her in several years though he always did like the practical no nonsense Mothma. Still, as part of the Galactic Senate, it is not clear that she can be trusted, though Gotal is considering whether to reach out to her. He knows her to still be alive.
Bail Organa – Senator from Alderaan. A mentor. A friend? Gotal is not certain they were friends, certainly Organa presented Gotal with an invaluable opportunity to ply his passion. But, even on Alderaan Gotal was not safe. Certainly, there are whispers that the Senator is a dissident, but that might be even more reason not to attempt to contact him! He knows him to still be alive.
Jedi Master Eeth Koth – Rogue Jedi? Gotal would dearly love to find Koth. As he was no longer embedded within the Grand Army of the Republic when Order 66 was executed, he would not have been so easy to assassinate. Gotal certainly wishes that he had spent more time on lightsaber form as Koth believed to be so necessary. Gotal, much like the Jedi Order, was lulled into a false sense of security and much like the Jedi Order, may pay for his lack of vision…
Gotal is unsure if Koth is indeed alive.
2 Short-term goals you want your character to accomplish, such as buying an item, learning a Force Power, or something like that.
(1) Gotal is desperately seeking any Jedi.
(2) Gotal is also seeking to improve his powers over illusions, as they certainly saved his neck!
2 Long-term goals you want your character to accomplish, such as buying a ship, getting an entourage/gang/squad, get rich, etc.
(1) Gotal would love to remember how Vebb interacted with the living force to heal people.
(2) Gotal would like to see a resurgence of the Jedi Order to combat the Galactic Empire. Hypocrisy perhaps, but this Empire is evil in a way that the Separatists never were, at least not from what Gotal has seen the last 3 years.
2 Non-tangible motivations, such as defend the weak, never tell a lie, and things like that.
(1) Pass on what he has learned. Though Gotal is a novice by Jedi standards (his training was incomplete for a long time due to his “disappearance” from the Jedi logs). He believes that now he needs to find force users and pass on what little he has learned, he’s just not sure how to do that.
(2) To the extent he is able, Gotal would like to mediate disputes through diplomacy instead of fighting.
Gotal looks like an average Umbaran, no discernible features.
Even More Notes – Clearly, some of these points are up to GM interpretation but here are my thoughts: (a) Dooku fudged records to show that Gotal was either dead, or had left the Order, thus, the lack of communication with the order after Sifo-Dyas died, (b) Sifo having placed Gotal in Organa’s retinue, Dooku could use him to assist in negotiations later on behalf of the technocratic union or any other part of the separatists, as a Jedi or former Jedi, or whatever Gotal was considered, Dooku figures it would go a long way to aiding in arguing that the Techno Union (or whoever was convenient/expedient) was still neutral, (c) Gotal was a loose end on Alderaan so only a few clone troopers were directed to slay him, not several. Gotal’s powers of stealth and illusion were not briefed to the clones, therefore, he was able to deceive them, (d) he was still on the wanted list after his illusion faded, so the dust up on Lasan [I am taking liberty with the timeline but Lasan was attacked in 7 BBY and I believe we are not quite there on the timeline yet though DoD is fuzzy on its placement I the Dark Times timeline], finally, (e) judicious use of his powers along with just moving frequently have kept him out of the crosshairs of the Empire since he left Lasan. He was not a “big name” Jedi so though he’s on a list, he’s not exactly “most wanted”.
Let me know if you have any questions, I certainly found Wookiepedia helpful in writing this all up!

Stupid question:
In your house rules you present some clone trooper templates, indicating they're 25-point buys and that we're free to spend the remaining 3 points as we desire. However, doing the math, it seems they add up to 28 just by themselves. Is this some kind of errata, or a compensation for the loss in flexibility?

Let me double check my math. The Clone Wars sourcebook gives a standard array for all Clones, but it adds up to 19 points. The goal was to give Clones a comparable array to other non-droid PCs.
Robert Henry
I was working on getting Lem up to the Character Creation Rules and remembered that it was 'Homebrew Content' a Technician. Are you ok with this class or do I need to change it?
Phntm888
1 person marked this as a favorite.
@Jereru: The Clone point buys are, in fact, 28 point buy. I did my math wrong, apparently. Clones will not get the extra 3 points, just the array.
@Robert Henry: I will allow the Technician, but the Yuuzhaan Vong Biotech and Malkite Poisoner talent trees are not allowed.
Submitted character reviews to come later today.

Very cool, thanks Phntm!
I believe I've got Lem's crunch up to snuff. Please let me know if you see anything that needs addressed.
I'll continue developing Lem's fluff. The underlying story to his background is that the T-6 shuttle he was found in was originally transporting Jedi and Jedi sympathizers. They abandoned it, Lem volunteered to fly it to a distant point with it rigged to blow. Instead of destroying Lem and the ship, the blast ruined the ship and wiped Lem's memory.
To date Lem's not been able to learn anything about the shuttle or Itself. But Lem will have interests and goals, centered around that idea. Some of the people in Lem's background will be people from the scavenger ship that found the T-6 shuttle.
I would be happy to tie in backgrounds with anyone who is crew on a ship that may have stopped to investigate the destroyed T-6 shuttle.

Okay, let's do a few reviews.
Fortitude and Will Defense are good, but Reflex should be 16 (10+2 Armor+1 Class+3 Dex = 16), with flat-footed 13.
Talent and Feat look good.
You have one Trained skill too many - Soldiers get 3 + Int (1) for a total of 4 Trained skills for Rilri.
You need to make the DC 15 Restricted Knowledge (bureaurcracy) check for the blaster rifle and pay the licensing fee.
I have the total cost of your purchases as being 3,065 credits, 65 over the maximum of 3,000. That is not including the licensing for the blaster rifle.
Looking at your backstory, the Jedi Order of the time generally went to great lengths to keep Younglings from communicating with their family, in addition to taking them to Coruscant for training in their infancy or toddlerdom, at best. How did Rilri manage to keep in contact with her, and make sure she didn't forget him? I'm okay with you doing so, I'm just giving you a little writing prompt to figure out the how.
Reflex Defense should be 15 (10 + 1 Level + 2 Dex + 2 Scoundrel), flat-footed 13
Fort Defense should be 12 (10 + 1 Level + 1 Con)
Will Defense should be 12 (10 + 1 Level + 0 Wis + 1 Scoundrel)
Damage Threshold should be 12 (make sure to note it somewhere)
You get 2 more languages due to your Int score.
Skills are fine. Talent is fine - if you want to swap Knack for Force Perception, that's okay too. You'll want to train a different skill in place of Perception, though.
You should have 5 feats total - 3 Scoundrel, 1 Human, and 1 for being a Level 1 character.
So, the way armor works in Saga Edition is that, when calculating your Reflex Defense, you use EITHER your Heroic Level (1 in this case) or your Armor Bonus (also 1 with the Tracker Utility Vest). You also need to be proficient in the category of armor, or take the Armor Check Penalty to attack rolls and certain skills. Since you are not proficient in Light Armor, that would a -2 penalty while wearing the vest.
You need to roll the Knowledge (bureaucracy) checks for the blaster pistol and hold-out blaster. Because the Hold-Out Blaster is Illegal, you need to pay the Black Market price, which is 1500 credits (plus 750 credits licensing fee).
You will need to buy Power Packs for the blaster pistol. Energy Cells only work with the holdout blaster or glow rods.
Turning attention to the backstory: The Twi'lek homeworld is Ryloth, to help fill that in. I have several additional questions for expansion:
Why was Jaath at the protest to meet Telzha?
How much time elapsed between meeting Telzha and meeting the resistance members?
Did he and Telzha actually have a relationship, or was it purely one-sided?
When his father arranged to have the resistance members arrested, did he have any actual charges to lay against them, or were the charges completely fabricated?
Was he there when the security forces moved in to make the arrests, or did he find out about them later?
How did he meet Vhoe Bock?
Str 10 (Base 8 + 2 Points)
Dex 16 (Base 8 + 10 Points)
Con 12 (Base 8 + 4 Points)
Int 14 (Base 8 + 4 Points +2 Species)
Wis 12 (Base 8 + 4 Points)
Cha 12 (Base 8 + 6 Points -2 Species)
The backstory looks good, but let's get the Point Buy fixed before I delve too far into the rest of the stat block.
All the other numbers look good, but I'm questioning some of the skill/Talent choices. Gotal being good at diplomacy yet not having the Persuasion skill trained or the Adept Negotiator talent doesn't feel like it necessarily fits. Would you be open to either swapping a trained skill for Persuasion or swapping your Illusion talent for Adept Negotiator (to head down that path) and one of your Force Powers for the Cloak Force Power out of the Clone Wars Campaign Guide?
EDIT: I'll also add that the base Illusion talent doesn't let you disguise yourself - you need the Masquerade talent for that.
I also don't see any real combat options outside of Force Powers. That may be something for you to consider once you purchase equipment, especially if Gotal is supposed to be keeping a low profile. Even a badly aimed blaster bolt is less suspicious than a floating crate.
Str 9 = 8 Base + 1 Point
Dex 16 = 8 Base + 10 Points
Con --
Int 16 = 8 Base + 6 Points + 2 2nd-Degree Droid
Wis 10 = 8 Base + 2 Points
Cha 12 = 8 Base + 6 Points - 2 2nd-Degree Droid
Before I go in-depth on the rest, let's get the Point Buy figured out first.
Str 10 = 8 Base + 2 Points
Dex 14 = 8 Base + 6 Points
Con --
Int 16 = 8 Base + 6 Points + 2 2nd-Degree Droid
Wis 14 = 8 Base + 6 Points
Cha 8 = 8 Base + 2 Points -2 2nd-Degree Droid
Before I go over the rest, let's get the Point Buy fixed.
Gotal of Umbara
I did take the Cloak Force Power :-)
I had initially taken the Adept Negotiator Talent but then when I realized that (for some reason) Jedi do not get Persuasion as a Trained Skill choice, I instead swapped that Talent out for the Illusion Alter Talent Tree.
I partially did it because I thought that Cloak coupled with Illusion made more sense with respect to avoiding the Stormtroopers on Alderaan (I created an illusion of myself that they shot after I used Cloak) mechanically not sure I could do both simultaneously IN GAME but for narrative purposes well, it made for a good story! [Yeah, I saw that Masquerade power, I think I absolutely want to build towards that].
I also partially did it because you had mentioned that Class was not a straight jacket for "career", so I figured that a decent Charisma would cover for lack of specific Talent in the persuasion department.
IF you are ok with the following modifications I am as well:
(1) Persuasion as a Trained Skill instead of Endurance [I picked Endurance to reflect early training with Jedi Master Koth, I did consider Stealth but as a race getting re-rolls I figured what the heck, Training in Endurance is helpful with such a low Con], and
(2) Swap out Illusion for Adept Negotiator (assuming that the force power Cloak alone would have helped me survive the Stormtrooper ambush).
Yep, I was planning on buying a blaster, do I need a fake name to have one licensed though? Don't exactly want to broadcast my name to the Empire!
I assume you were cool with the Background as is with these changes and that I can leave alone?
Ouachitonian
One of the last changes I mad was to bring the CON down to 10, and I notice my HP calculation was still based on a 12 CON. Whoops. Curse HeroLab's lack of support for SW:SE! I'm not used to building manually anymore.
Edit: ok, should be fully updated now, and I added items beyond weapons. As for Destiny, I'm not sure. My goal for him is to, I guess, preserve at least some parts of the legacy of the Jedi, perhaps even to begin the long work of bringing the Order back (though he won't complete it, of course). So maybe Rescue? Less that he's rescuing an "object" than an organization, but that seems closest.
Phntm888
If you want to come up with an alias Gotal goes by for the licensing and stuff, that's fine. Don't forget that for Restricted items you need to roll the DC 15 Knowledge (bureaucracy) check. You auto-pass for the Licensed items.
Both prestige classes will be available, but I won't say more at this time.
For Destiny, you could always just choose the category (e.g. Rescue), and leave the specifics up to me, if you'd like. You could also leave everything up to me, and do a truly secret Destiny.
Otherwise, with a broader Destiny of "preserve the Jedi legacy", we could also go with Education, as in passing on Jedi knowledge to others as a form of preservation, or Creation for creating a repository of Jedi Knowledge and legacy. We can stick with Rescue, as well, it just feels a little more clunky.

Duh, I feel like an idiot. Lem's original stats were rolled and I completely forgot the droid stat adjustments. Looks like I should refresh my knowledge of the game.
So a 'normal' LE - Series Repair Droids Abilities are: Strength 10, Dexterity 8, Constitution -, Intelligence 13, Wisdom 12, Charisma 12. If I use that as a base, (I want to maintain some similarity to the original) I can increase Dex and Int to:
Str 10 = 8 Base + 2 Points
Dex 14 = 8 Base + 6 Points
Con --
Int 16 = 8 Base + 6 Points + 2 2nd-Degree Droid
Wis 12 = 8 Base + 4 Points
Cha 12 = 8 Base + 6 Points -2 2nd-Degree Droid
That's a 24 pt buy, and as a 'LE-Series' It has two 'upgrades' I think that fits the build ok.
Jaath Rhendal
Jaath's attempt to secure a licensed blaster (which is restricted):
Knowledge (Bueaurocracy) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Target: DC 15 = Success!
His blaster is now licensed and adds +10% to the cost. (550 credits total)
Changes made for my CS on my PC, not on my Profile yet:
1. Defense saves corrected.
2. Using “Force Perception” for talent.
3. Dropped Perception skill and added Knowledge (Bureaucracy). Wouldn’t have thought of it if you hadn’t brought up the blaster…might be handy to have in the game, and explainable due to his exposure to his Father’s work in the shipyards. Yes?
4. Added “Precise Shot” for Feat
5. Dropped the armor vest. Thanks for the heads up on that.
6. Dropping the hold out pistol. Rolled for the Know (Bureaucracy)
Will get back to you later on the questions. Busy day in RL

LE-M-07d I'll review everything later.
bigrig107 Yes, they exist, but they are relatively new at this point. Most people wouldn't know what they are.
That's fine, just wanted one in her background is all. Working on getting things together, aim to have it completed by tonight.

I'm clocking a 25 Point Buy after 2nd-Degree Droid adjustments, and Droids only have a 24 Point Buy.
Okay, I'll just take my strength to 8.
Phntm888
First, while Droids don't have a connection to the Force and can't take the Force Sensitivity feat or Force Powers, I do think they are supposed to have Force Points, so you can have the normal amount (5) of Force Points. How else does R2-D2 survive getting shot by Vader's TIE Advanced x1?
You have Perception listed as +10/+12 up top, but +8/+10 in the skills list. The skills list one looks to be the correct one.
The Taser does a very poor job of explaining how to actually use it in combat. Let's list out your to-hit and damage for both melee and ranged attacks with the Taser. The damage will be 1d8 stun/ion, depending on whether the target is organic or droid.
You forgot to add your Level to all of your Defenses.
Gather Information should be +6 (+1 Cha +5 Trained)
I have a House Rule on Skill Focus that lowers it to a +3 bonus, increasing to +6 at level 10. Mechanics should be +11/+13.
If you are taking Armor Proficiency (light) as your level 1 feat, you don't take the Armor Check Penalty on your Initiative roll. You only take an Armor Check Penalty if you are not proficient in the armor.
I'm fine with the home-brewed Mechanic Talent tree, but the Technological Master talent is not an option.
I'm not using Backgrounds for this one, just Destiny. You'll have to either choose a Destiny for Lem, or leave it up to me.
If you get in, I would like you to write up LE-M-07d's expanded backstory so I know more about what story elements to try and mix into the campaign.
For creating droids, I'd like players to use these rules, and not use the Droid Chassis rules. Can you rebuild without the Astromech Droid Chassis?

If I start as a non-Jedi class and then take Jedi class levels later, does that give me the starting lightsaber for free when I take that class?
Can I even acquire a lightsaber without being a Jedi class?
Yes, multi classing Jedi would grant you the lightsaber, as it's a class feature. However, a lightsaber just "showing up" doesn't necessarily fit well with the narrative of the adventure. If you're open to it, you could multiclass Jedi when you want to and then get the free lightsaber later, when it makes more sense from a narrative standpoint. Of course, if you waited to multiclass Jedi until a point where it makes sense for the story, it wouldn't be an issue.
As for acquiring a lightsaber without being a Jedi class, not realistically at the start. A lightsaber costs 3,000 credits base and has an availability of "Rare". This means that typically it can only be acquired directly from the manufacturer, and, if available on the open market, usually costs double the list price (6,000 credits).

I've got the accounting issues fixed and made a note of the House rules and the different Home-brewed items you permitted and the ones you didn't.
Thanks for the numbers on the taser, I found the information they provided confusing. As a ranged weapon, what should the range be, 10 ft or more? Also, it doesn't say what happens after it shoots the wires out. Do they continue shocking until removed, or do they automatically return to the taser to be shot again. What I thought would be an easy way for Lem to defend itself is certainly not as simple as I'd hoped.
Also, I've removed Its marooned Background, though I like the backstory, so I'd like to keep it. As for the Destiny, I haven't got a clue. Though I'd like it to tie into what happened to Lem before its memory was wiped and ship blown up. My idea is that it was helping a Jedi or Jedi sympathizer escape.
I'll Happily write Lem an expanded backstory. Should I wait to see who gets in the game, so we have possibly met before? Or would you want to give me names of possible contacts that would remember him? I imagine the background in three parts. What happened before the 'attack' what happened while it was marooned alone, and what happened after he was rescued. The latter one involving a merchant or smuggler or scavenger that found the ship and Lem. Which would be an easy place to tie into one of the other players.
I mentioned earlier that I'm not real familiar with the system, I've only actually played with Lem and that was for a short period of time. So, If you're looking for someone with a ton of experience with the system, I'm not your guy. But we've played together a couple of times, now in WotR and in one of Rizz's WoT games, so you know what you'll be getting as far as posting rate and quality.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Lem's destiny would be. Let me know if there is anything else you need. I'll start adding some of the background information you have requested.

Jereru Correct on both counts.
We've got a few people who don't have a lot of experience with or are completely new to the system, so experience with the system isn't a pre-requisite. I've run Saga Edition at the higher (15+) levels before, and I've got a good amount of system knowledge.
Yeah, the Taser is just poorly written. Let's give it a range of 4 squares, and say that after use, you can spend your standard action to deal your damage with it as long as the probes remain attached. However, an enemy can use a swift action to remove the probes, if the probes are not attached to a valid (read: conscious and alive) target, you need to spend a swift action to retract them before you can shoot them again. You also can't move away from the target they are attached to without retracting the probes. Finally, the melee and ranged modes are exclusive, so you can't use them as a melee attack while they're attached to the target of your ranged attack. You would, again, have to spend a swift action to retract them.
You can absolutely keep the current backstory. I feel like right now we have "what happened while it was marooned alone". Let's expand on "what happened after it was rescued". I'd like you to come up with a couple NPCs Lem encountered during that time, either ones who rescued him or people he met afterwards. Don't forget to also write out his 2 short-term goals, 2 long-term goals, and 2 intangible motivations.
Jaath Rhendal
Why was Jaath at the protest to meet Telzha?
Jaath had been delivering a datapad of encrypted information to his father that had been forgotten at home that morning. Nothing highly classified or extremely important, but something that his father had required. When Jaath was leaving the facility, he saw the protesters and like many curious young adults, he stopped to see what all the ruckus was about. He saw Telzha get shoved by some guards, and he stepped in to help her up, and was smitten. Her ego was more bruised than she was, and when more guardsmen showed up, they left together…and parted soon after.
How much time elapsed between meeting Telzha and meeting the resistance members?
They knew each other for a couple of weeks before she trusted him enough to introduce him, which coincided with her learning about his father’s position at the Shipyards. Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not.
Did he and Telzha actually have a relationship, or was it purely one-sided?
There was definite flirting going on, though nothing was ever consummated. She might have real interest, but her ‘cause’ is more important to her than anything.
When his father arranged to have the resistance members arrested, did he have any actual charges to lay against them, or were the charges completely fabricated?
Actual charges against at least a couple of her group, but enough innuendo of espionage to try and round them all up.
Was he there when the security forces moved in to make the arrests, or did he find out about them later?
Raanth was with the resistance members, and technically taken into custody as well. However, no charges were filed, and he was released soon afterward…which is part of why Telzha accused him of being an undercover informant against them.
Seriously, do whatever you want with all this. I’m open to any modifications you want to make. I just thought the idea was cool, overall. It’s all fair game.
How did he meet Vhoe Bock?
Vhoe is a gambler who ran games in a nightclub he owned at a resort on Kuat. It was a nighttime spot where the adult-children of the Loyalist officers would hang out and party. Feel free to use him however you’d like.

BACKGROUND:
Backstory/Description:
Jaath Rhendal was raised in relative comfort and privilege by his father, an engineering administrator at the shipyards near Kuat known as the Drive Yards. Though his mother died when he was quite young, Jaath and his brother faired rather well, and unlike many, didn’t really experience the downside to the changeover to the New Order. Jaath learned a good deal about ships and piloting there, and actually intended to join the Imperial Navy at some point.
That all changed when Jaath met Telzha, an inspiring young woman from Twi’lek who was protesting against the Empire. (It’s always about a girl, right?) He was smitten and after a month or so was introduced to several of her comrades who were in actuality resistance fighters with plans to work some sabotage at the shipyards. Telzha opened the young Rhendal’s eyes to the evil and cruelty of the Empire. She made and emotional appeal for Jaath to use his influence with his father to gain access to some of the security codes at the base, and surprising even himself, Jaath was considering it.
However, unbeknownst to any of them, word had reached Jodd Rhendal through Imperial security forces about rumors of Jaath’s involvement with “unsavory” types. Jaath’s father had made plans to have the resistance members arrested, hoping to keep his son and more importantly, the family name, out of suspicion of disloyalty to the Empire.
Telzha and about half of her followers escaped, leaving Jaath behind with harsh words, thinking that he had betrayed them.
Returning home, Jaath argued with his father who was freely admitting his actions, claiming that he had save his son from being incarcerated, and tha it was all for his own good. A week later, Jaath gathered what resources he personally owned and booked passage away from the shipyards…and he has never looked back.
Three people your character knows:
Telzha Rith - Twi'lek girl who opened his eyes to the evils of the Empire and his father’s place in all that. Taught him much of what he knows about being a Scoundrel. The two were growing romantically close when she abandoned Jaath, Jaath later learned that hi father reported her to the Imperials to get her away from his son.. Current status unknown.
Vhoe Bokk - Cerean gambler that Jaath currently owes a favor in lieu of paying 10,000 credits instead. They’d both been swindled by a Rodian in a game of Sabacc, so Vhoe gave Jaath a “deal” to eventually work off his debt instead…somehow.
Shaan Rhendal - Jaath’s privileged younger brother currently living with family, torn between loyalty to Jaath and to their parents.
Jodd Rhendal - Jaath’s father, (married to step-mother Maeyris) Shipyard Administrator in good standing with the Empire (Location and site TBD by GM)
Short-term goals you want your character to accomplish, such as buying an item, learning a Force Power, or something like that.
To find Telzha.
To get out from under the debt he owes Vhoe Bokk. (Possibly Long-term goal as well)
To learn to “speak” or at least understand Astromech droids.
Long-term goals you want your character to accomplish, such as buying a ship, getting an entourage/gang/squad, get rich, etc.
To earn enough to buy his own ship.
Convince his brother of the evils of the Empire, and free him from his father’s influence.
To redeem his family name outside of the Empire, and make amends for all the harm that the ships his father has built have done.
Non-tangible motivations, such as defend the weak, never tell a lie, and things like that.

Turning attention to the backstory: The Twi'lek homeworld is Ryloth, to help fill that in. I have several additional questions for expansion:

HP and Defenses are good.
Offense is good.
I see a "?" next to Destiny that links to a Background. The Background system is slightly different than the Destiny system. You can look here to see if there's a Destiny that works. Alternatively, you can leave the Destiny a mystery, and I'll create one for you.
Skills look good.
Gear looks good.
For the background, I'm not 100% sold on Dathomir as a planet of origin. I'd like to know more about the thought process behind that choice, as it doesn't seem to have much, if any, effect on the actual character.
If you keep Dathomir as the planet of origin, I'd like to know how Hasdrubal would have reacted to the news that the Separatists invaded Dathomir and destroyed the Nightsisters late in the war. Would he consider returning home, now that their influence is gone?
For some less Dathomir-focused questions, what were the smugglers carrying? Did they find Hasdrubal stowed away aboard the ship? If so, how did they react? When selling his skill with a blaster, did anyone ever offer to hire him as an assassin or hitman?

Damn! The Destiny! I forgot about it!
Now on Dathomir, the original intent was to choose a birth place that was hard and dangerous. It gives the character a reason to be a hero, to leave his home world and to fight for improvement. Why Dathomir? Well, could have been anywhere else, but that one was already described and known by many, so it instantly evokes that "man, that's a tough guy" feeling. And it's not one more character from Tattoine.
What if... Okay, let's do one thing. I'm
going to pick Liberation as my Destiny. What do you say?
So yeah... The Nightsisters are not what they used to be, but they still linger. And they're known for coming back over and over again. And there's Maul, and the Empire has set foot there as well, so... Not many reasons to go back, rationally. But Destiny, often times, works with irrational things happening, right?
But I'm always open for a suggestion of a different home world if it had a similar concept.
Non-Dathomir questions:
I was thinking more the kind of "i want to fly wherever you take me, no questions asked - I have this sum of credits plus I can sell you my armor" proposal. What were they snuggling? I don't know... Maybe people? Yeah! Let's say they take people here and there avoiding Imperial registrations.
Hasdrubal sells himself more as a soldier than as an assassin. He's been offered the job, though he's always rejected - it's tough to kill in cold blood and he doesn't have the skills anyway.
Anything else? :)
Phntm888
Dathomir's not really that well known of a planet. It's fairly remote, not being on any major trade routes, and hasn't been the recipient of much corporate or galactic attention. Outside of various deadly creatures, there isn't much reason for people to go there. I'm fine with the choice of Dathomir, but you'll probably find a lot of people don't know much about it - if they even know the name.
Everything looks good otherwise.
Philo Pharynx I'd like you to rebuild the character using the standard Custom Droid stats from the core rules, not the Astromech Droid chassis. If you stick with a Small droid, you may swap the Tracked locomotion system for a Wheeled Locomotion system at no cost.
Jereru
Oh, I meant known by the players. But again, if you point me to a plannet that causes that first impression on npcs, I'd be glad to tweak the story a bit.
Now on the destiny, I don't want to shoehorn the story, but I thought you might ponder the character ending up liberating Dathomir from Imperial influence (or even Dark Side influence, though that seems a bit too unlikely), this having it linked to the character's past and also future.
Phntm888
Oh, by the players. Okay, that's a different story then. Dathomir is fine - most of the planet that would have that first impression on NPCs are either a lot better settled (i.e. Nar Shaddaa) or are dominantly non-human.
That destiny is somewhat outside the scope of the campaign, but I'll find something that will work for it.
Jereru
Yeah, I understand liberating a far away planet not connected to the gameplay zone is a bit pretentious. That's why it was only a suggestion with which you can play as you wish.
You know, I actually thought of Nar Shadaa, but I wanted to stay away from Old Republic Era content (which is my favourite era, btw).

I can't find the cost of an astrogation buffer anywhere.
Phntm888
I can't find the cost of an astrogation buffer anywhere.
Hmm. That's odd, you would think they'd have a price listed so other droids could have it.
I took a look at the R2-series astromech stat block, and it lists the astrogation buffer as a form of internal storage there. Let's price it the same as a Hidden Core - 200 credits for an Astrogation Buffer of 5. You can purchase it twice to get an Astrogation Buffer of 10.
EDIT: It doesn't list how an astrogation buffer works, either. I wonder if that got cut in the final printing of the book. Here's how I'm going to rule it:
Astrogation Buffer: This droid processor system is typically installed in astromech and piloting droids in order to ease hyperspace travel over normal routes. The astrogation buffer automatically stores all hyperspace routes the astromech calculates, up to the maximum size of the buffer. Older routes are automatically overwritten by newer routes unless the droid either chooses not to store a route or is ordered not to store a route. The droid can erase the contents of its astrogation buffer as a full-round action if its owner orders it to. If the droid has had its restraining bolt port removed, it can erase the contents of the astrogation buffer as a full-round action of its own free will. Alternatively, the astrogation buffer can be forcibly erased by a third party if they succeed on a Use Computer check with a DC equal to the droid's Will Defense. A Hidden Core has sufficient storage to back up 1 route from an astrogation buffer.
A droid with an astrogation buffer only takes a -5 penalty on a Use Computer check to calculate a hyperspace route in 1 round, provided the route is one that the droid has stored in its astrogation buffer. This droid accessory costs 200 credits for a buffer of 5 routes. This can be purchased twice for a total astrogation buffer size of 10 routes.
