I still want the current scene to go on if ya'll have more to say. Afterwards, my ideas are:

---I think this would be a good time for "downtime", where people can pursue their own goals (or research next steps, etc) for a bit in the context of Hearth, then we'll try to get back to Light.

---I want the party to feel like a legitimate whole, and I think the ultimate shared goal of taking down Moon can work that way.

--More than anything, I want this to be a time where you can restate character goals and make sure points 1 + 2 sync up nicely.

He did show up... but he never said what his name was. Hence asking for a description, since Benedetto *would* recognize that.


Samen, you would have the planar knowledge to realize the gray drakes you saw in the Temple earlier have been here a "long time" according to the current state of affairs after you guys mucked about in the Library of Reality.

The red drakes, the ones Aisling just saw, are a new development. Someone is hiding something. Not exactly evil, but eventually destructive if left on their own.


Plan for the week -- I think River would be more invested in staying with Gull at the inn. Everyone else, we'll meet the Council after you sleep and recover at the inn.

I'm also interested in hearing about:

1) any short term plans in Hearth

2) Any long term plans on the road toward Light

Question about the religion: what is the general bend on resurrection, reincarnation and other 'return of the dead' abilities? Aisling has a team to recover (I believe I mentioned taking samples from the bodies) ...

We have some items to distribute too. Ibinu didn't return so there is treasure. We (Benedetto, River and Aisling have some money to burn too) - I think we can share everything and split between all of us?

Short term: I would like to use my mnemonic esoterica to switch out my "greater angelic aspect" spell with "speak with soul" and interview Ibinu, potentially trying to convince him to not be dead anymore. Concurrently, he would do some investigating as to who that elle was and seeing if he can exploit the relationship between them to bring him back.

Long term: Make it back to the Tribe and share what we've learned, then figure out how to penetrate the barrier around Light.

Hmmm... Benedetto would like to spend a bit of time figuring out just what being a paladin of the Phoenix actually means. :D From my understanding, he would have viewed the Phoenix as some kind of elemental servant of Volcano before, right? But now it's feeling more like the Phoenix is its own thing, and he needs to figure out how he feels about that (and just what it wants of him).

Long-term he definitely wants to return to Light and free it from Moon's madness.

Short term: River needs to get her bearings. Things are strange here and a lot keeps happening unexpectedly.

Gabriel is kinda along for the ride. He was a part of the Happy Swords and died along with the rest of them (before I took over). At this point, he knows Moon is bad news and needs to be dealt with. He's spent the last few weeks/months(?) fighting against his allies and minions. He'd want to see that through.

I'd imagine a longer term concern of his would be if Abnaki could transition to demi-god status, who else around elenity could also be doing so. Perhaps Abnaki and crew went through a bunch of unique circumstances to allow the godhood to manifest. Whos to say someone else hasn't also experienced odd circumstances and been able to absorb some divine essence.

As for Phoenix... Spoiler as I'm not sure of the guidelines of reading the past campaigns.

Phoenix:
If I remember correctly, Phoenix is just a chicken familiar with a dash of divinity that got too big for his britches.

Thanks! It was fun reading back through the things we've gone through... most of which I was actually a part of making happen. If you read enough around those links you'll get to see Abnaki speaking things into being on accident as well. So much fun to be had!

A particular favorite was the scene just before we found the sun lord where Samen was casting a mins long spell to summon some help while we were under assault from gemmed redcaps. Samen's brother (npc), the spirit of Kalik, and I were holding them off with regular combat. Abnaki and Qzz helped speed up the casting time through other spells and skill checks.

I've caught up. Mostly leveled up not that it is terribly powerful, spiritualists are not super busted anyways. Just fun fluff. I have not finished the spell part of leveling up yet.

No clue on the boon thing thing. Qizz night want food or protections but there are not a lot of spiritualist focused magical items. Are there are any parameters on the boons? Like can I get a drake?


LOL, you can ask for whatever you'd like, but drakes are 'people' too, and probably don't want to be traded as property (plus they're more like kobolds than anything)

In the deep archives, they find a belt worn by an orean wrestling champion of ancient times, known for moving huge boulders as part of their training exercises.

Assuming that restoring River's mind is out (and that's probably a good thing anyway!) the only thing I can think of would be a bonus wild talent or two.

I like the idea of using kinetic whip so that River can actually hit people with streams of water as well as defending herself but that requires two wild talents (Kinetic Blade then Kinetic Whip). I could retrain one of my talents to get KB and then have some sort of 'Pure Snow' or 'Elemental Water' which River could study for a bonus talent?

If that's too busted then she'll be fine with permission to go swimming in whatever river/lakes are around and not full of fire!


Well, we are going god-killing sooner or later, and not all of them will be as weakened as War and Burning :)

I'm fine with the one retrain plus the one bonus talent. We'll say that you are granted access to a pool of water that has cleared up since the city's steam-baths stopped being hot (that was connected to the Quiet Elder that recently grew in Hearth, another, long story...)

The pool is well below the city, and you are able to spend one long afternoon communing with it, and absorbing its silent knowledge.


Some of these goals will take time to see progress. I think it's smart to make the Council gather armies and march all together on Light, as this is a large-scale confrontation. I was amused to see a little bit of old-fashioned materialism as well.

Want to make sure we are on the same page - I think we'll spend a little more narrative time in Hearth on these tasks (though not each individual day, necessarily, I may do a little time skipping), then start moving on the path toward Light (once you tell me how you are getting there)

Any other locations, plans, goals, I need to know about?


I will be able to post over Thanksgiving week pretty much every day. Please let me know if anyone is anticipating being away from posting. I will ask again around Christmas time.

In more serious tone, I don't really plan on killing off or replacing Aisling, I just started with him. I just hate when the game starts and then dies in few months because I'm busy and it feels like wasted effort, creating the PC with full background, idea etc...(and hated part of selecting magic items)...only to abandon it.

And this particular one - natural attacking kobold - was tried three times already :( no luck.

If Qizz ever helps Kallik move on and decides to not work with another spirit, they could become a paladin of the Cookie. If they will it hard enough maybe that concept will manifest

Kallik, we're trending toward a second try at getting Ibinu reincarnated (he refused to come back, the first time)

When you get a chance, would you write out what you would say to Ibinu, if you believed coming back was for the best? As a ghost/phantom, I imagine you could have some sway on the situation (that's what Samen is banking on). Your post doesn't have to coincide exactly with Samen casting the spell - I'm giving you extra time to compose it over the weekend before it happens in Gameplay.

Hey everyone,

I'm going to drop from this game. Thanks very much to The Declarative for having me and for all of you for being great players. I've never quite gotten my head around this game and then on top of that I built a character without any concrete goals or real motivations of her own. This is entirely my fault of course and no reflection on the game or the world but I'm finding it really hard to sit down and post as River because I don't have any handle on her.

Again, thank you all for a great time. I don't want to hold the game up so better that I bow out now and leave you to it. Have a great time and make sure to save the world!

How much downtime do we get? Just to have a feeling how much of masking and redirection should I do while still promoting new temple. And I need to get Benedetto (and maybe Gull) too, Sky, Sun and Phoenix would do well to present unified front against Volcano priests.


Between needing to gather the Tribe of Peace, redo the paladin hierarchy, and trying to establish a religious presence of unity (Sun and Sky), I would imagine 2 weeks of downtime. This could be the final push toward Light.

(I don't use the exact PF downtime rules, so let me know what questions you have)

Knowledge: discover as much as possible about old faiths, restore stuff from before

For the establishing of the faith: meet Benedetto, Gull, Samen and Drook and discuss the tenets and the rituals of the new faith.
I suggest core tenets: Freedom/Dream/Innovation (Sky), Renewal/Rebirth/Change (Phoenix), Illumination/Healing/Knowledge (Sun)

Establish evocative Sacred rites both solemn for priests with big congregations and minor (lighting the candle, blowing over the dust or lit candle, and similar things) for everyday use

Build sacred space: probably need money and labor unless Volcano gives part of the temple to be redecorated.

Again suggestion of iconography: Whirlwind Nest with the Phoenix, Sun shining above on the bright blue field (Sky)
Holy symbols: spiral (Dream or Whirlwind), feather or star (or just gold circle)

Social part:
Evangelize, evangelize, evangelize - public sermons, rumor/gossip 'war', dramatic ceremonies/events (such as Aisling bird turning), helping people of various status.

Forge alliances: work against the Dark together (common enemy)
Unity: appeal to elen to emphasize inclusivity instead of dominance of the volcano
Work on smaller communities via influential people (that may be an elder in a ghetto or a duke's son disillusioned with Volcano for some reason)

Volcano faith:
Include them in all procedures, after all, Sun and Phoenix ARE FIRE!! Do not let Ifriti feel excluded. Promote peaceful resolutions, elemental harmony (stronger together against the Dark)
Do not engage in open conflict - respond with words, compassion or simply withdraw from conflict if possible, but hold your own if attacked directly.

Milestones: First stone, consecration, first priest, first X...discover more knowledge to return to old festivals and holy days (which might also bolster diminished gods)
