"That.... is a lot of titles." she says, only the slightest hint of a smile flashing for a nanosecond across her lips. "Of course, Captain. I think we're almost finished here. Your timely assistance proved enough to keep us from any serious injuries."
She frowns, having no trouble at all with the facial gesture. "Unfortunately the same cannot be said for many of our crew, who were beamed out by the alien vessel. Their transporter signal had quite a different appearance than a Starfleet vessel's."

"Well," she swallows "You know how when you're transported normally, there's a kind of containment field which briefly sparkles around you as you are beamed? With their transporters, you started glowing from within and then you disappeared in a bright sparkling flash spread out in about a three meter radius, and sparkling particles fell to the floor before dissipating. It honestly had a very weapon-like feel to it."

"Weaponized transporter scans!? That is horrific. With an energized particulate byproduct of the disintegration. Wow. It's unlikely this would even have been discussed at Khitomer ..."

Captain Komin smiles, broadly, and turns directly to the Orion, but speaks to Worgruhn & Brevik, "Now that I have maneuvered Orion Cargo Unit #1 into admitting that the Orion crew members were, in fact rescued, AND sharing with us that he is not their captain, I really do need to go to sickbay. If you would, see if the others might want to share anything with you. With any luck, the only one that we will need to strand in deep space with a distress beacon aimed at Quo'nos is Unit #1."
As the captain exits the cargo bay, Commander Worghurn gives the Orion crewman a stern look. "You wish to be treated in the same manner that a group of humans would be treated?"
"Very well, the Klingon continues. His face betraying a hint of pleasure despite his tone turning more ominous. "But you should know, that the history of the treatment of humans by Klingons has not always been the most... cordial."
The commander eyes the Orions for a few moments longer, gaging their response, before turning to Vrek. Recalling the junior officer's background in diplomactic protocols, he notes, "Lieutenant Vrek, you have considerable familiarity with the various forms of the historic treatment of humans, do you not?"

Vrek says "While I chose a Star Fleet career path of piloting and flight, commander, the Graal-Ker family has a long history of diplomacy and ambassador duties and I know quite a few anecdotes to say the least. Indeed, go back far enough in my family tree and I am related to THE Ambassador Gral who encountered the Great Captain, later Admiral Archer. Hence an aspect of his name in my own Surname." He puffs up a bit with pride, "My family has served the Federation in one aspect or another since. However, while claiming to be no expert, I can verify that Klingons had a feared reputation among Star Fleet for the...treatment of its prisoners. Not a pleasant fate. As for Star Fleet's treatment of prisoners, we're quite civilized, but the great Captain Kirk was not above imploring his first officer to use a mind meld when needed. And even Captain Picard is said to have no trouble holding someone into the brig until they can be SURE the ship in question is safe. I say if throwing them into holding until a thorough investigation into threats and crimes can be done is good enough for the Federation flagship, it's good enough for us, commander. But to make a long response short... he really really doesn't want you exploring your own heritage in the manner of intergation and should probably count himself lucky if he gets to answer a few questions and wait in a holding cell. Just my opinion, Commander."
He says this almost cheerily.

"Ah, yes the Klingons. For all your speeches about honor, your leaders' greed is no less than that of a Ferengi, making it quite easy to bribe ones way past any real consequences." he smirks at Worghrun and Vrek. "Well, at least when the Federation defeated you in war, they were willing to keep you around as Targs to bark and growl at the neighbors."
The rest of the Orion crew assembled in the cargo hold back away, almost instinctively, or perhaps unwilling to get blood on their clothes.

"Indeed, Captain Komin, it is a tactic unheard of in civilized worlds. My crew is grateful for your timely rescue, without which our defenseless ship was at the mercy of something utterly without that quality." the Orion Commander in sickbay responds to the Captain's thoughts on the matter.

The tellarite scoffs at this weak sauce insult "Given the nature of the Orion syndicate, lecturing anyone on the nature of GREED is LAUGHABLE. At least the Ferangi have rules, self serving though they are. The fact you admit to experience with bribery doesn't help your case either. You're just trying to provoke the commander into taking action that will let you play the victim even more than you already are over perfectly reasonable restrictions." a look at the Commander, "Don't let that smirk faze you, Commander. This worm is wriggling on a justified hook, don't mind the slime."

"Despite one's attitude towards the Ferengi, one would do well to heed the 48th Rule of Acquisition, Lieutenant," the klingon replies.

"Yeoman, if you would be so kind as to enlighten the Lieutenant: 'The bigger the smile, the sharper the knife.' Also, the Orion commanding officer & I should be there shortly.
"Commander, would you be so kind as to walk with me to our cargo bay? The balance of your crew, all of whom scanned as uninjured, were transported there until we had stabilized everyone. One of your crewmembers seems ... out of sorts."
Brevik turns to Vrek, "The Commander is quite wise in this: the 48th Rule of Aquisition states 'The bigger the smile, the sharper the knife.' by which the Commander also infers that this Orion probably wouldn't be quite so beligerant if there weren't something to be gained from it, something that it seems his cohorts are not aware of given their fear of the Commander's forthcoming attack. Fascinating."
