tomtesserae wrote:Space Frame: Akira-Class seems the best with a Medicine bonus. However, Nebula gets a refit bonus that could go into Medicine. I think Jason suggested a Nebula class ship too which does have a little sway with me. So my vote is for Nebula.
Mission Profile: Strategic and Diplomatic Operations 5 (Diplomatic suites)
Scientific and Survey Operations 3 (Modular laboratories)
Multirole Explorer 3 (Redundancy systems)Seems like I should step back and let this unfold too.
Sorry to have stepped in ... my bad.
I mean, put in your votes!
Pretty sure you were working some good ideas there, we just need to have a consensus everyone can work with.

Ship Configuriation - (Fine with any, but have least "reference materials" for Akira)
Akira Class 3 points
Intrepid Class 4 points
Nebula Class 4 Points
Mission profile vote- (Like the versatility of multirole, but would be fine with any; top 3 ranked)
Strategic and Diplomatic Operations 2
Pathfinding and Reconnaissance Operations 2
Scientific and Survey Operations 2
Multirole Explorer 5
Will try to finalize PC in next 24 hours

Laird_Thorne |

Well, there goes my dreams of being Chief Engineer... ;)
P.S. Made some very slight tweaks to my character -- changed a value and a focus and added standard issue starfleet gear. Is it okay if I also have a toolbelt/24th century multitool of some kind?
I'd be glad to focus more on Science than Engineering. :) wouldn't take much adjustment..

Given the ship is going with a Multirole Explorer Mission Profile, maybe Rion would prefer the CMO position over the Captain position? On the other hand, they've been passionately keeping the thread alive and has deserved the "honor" if they want it!
There are few alternatives. Lysle or Laird could develop closer to the Captain/XO role .... I'm not sure if either would be interested.
There are also alternative ways to run the Captain....

I would love to see Rion as captain, for the reason Reckless said. Perhaps he could take inspiration from Captain Janeway: she had various assignments as a science officer before her career turned toward being a commanding officer. Maybe Rion used to be a medical officer before assuming a command position?
*********
I did that thing where I said I was going to do something, let a lot of time pass, thought of the something again, assumed I had already done it, and just now realized that I haven't done the something.
So, I need to get Mr. Ojo's backstory written out.
As I said upthread, Ojo is a re-purposed character from a previous (very freeform) Star Trek campaign played on these boards quite a while ago. The life events I rolled for this campaign lined up very well with the character as I portrayed him previously, so I'm going to use that previous campaign as inspiration for his backstory.
The main thing that's different is that when rolling up Ojo for this campaign, he suffered a "Serious Injury" at one point. For the original campaign, I had this weird idea that my Andorian had some sort of "moral handicap" and had a native Andorian support animal that helped him regulate his empathy. (Like I said, the campaign was very freeform, and the GM, whom I know in real life, loved it.)
I think what I'd like to do instead is to say that he suffered a head injury that damaged his ability to regulate his emotions. The injury never healed properly, so he sports a cybernetic plate prosthesis that helps with that part of his functioning.
Does this make sense? Is it too complicated?
Does this deviate from the spirit of what the game would assume would be a "serious injury?" I like that it's somewhat thematic to the previous version of Ojo.
Opinions and tweaks welcome.

Welcome to the USS Atocha (NCC-66187)

Zamal Imolko |

Lt. Zamal Imolko of the USS Atocha (NCC-66187) is ready for duty. The character sheet is finished except for the background. I was tempted to go with the “Wil Save” avatar wearing a santa claus hat (some holodeck adventure to understand Earth customs?), but thought this avatar is slightly better. Maybe it’s red alert? Maybe he’s visiting a planet with a red sun? Maybe I shouldn’t take the avatar’s too literally?

I think it works well. With the advanced medical facilities* at Narendra Station, it's even possible it was fitted there.
It's possible Captain Komin was involved in the surgery.
*Advanced Sickbay- The station has a well-equipped infirmary level, the equivalent of six starship sickbays. The station gains the Advanced Sickbay advantage, which applies to all medicine- and biology- related tasks performed within the infirmary. This advantage is lost if the station's Computers system is disabled.

Rion- if it works for you, I'm thinking Komin might have had a position on Narendra Station's medical team for a time, working alongside Chief Medical Officer Commander N'Ria (or perhaps holding the position before her?) and working closely with Admiral April Hebert, upon whose recommendation he was given command of the Atocha.

Maybe I shouldn’t take the avatar’s too literally?
Ha ha, that's probably for the best. There's no way I would find a blue-skinned avatar with two antennae, so I found a blueish skinned avatar, and... I guess we can pretend the ears are antennae? At least his hair is white, although it's longer than an officer would likely have. I debated going without an avatar, to be honest.
Did Rion rename his PC to Kalos Komin? It looks like it, but I missed when that happened.
I'll post in gameplay tonight!
