Khon'Ur

I'm not getting into this thing, go to hell. Khon'Ur frowns at the hut (this is not addressed to anyone in particular).
Instead, he carefully looks around at what else is dangerous or useful in the clearing.

Khon'Ur uncovers a piece of pale blue quartz inside the chest of the defeated doll, carved into the shape of an intricate snowflake.
At this point there are two Knowledge(Arcana) checks outstanding.
There doesn't appear to be anything else of interest in this particular area.
Khon'Ur
|
Aye, that's the spirit! Dwarf nods to Kaidynn and gives the crystals to arcanists to let them sort it out further
Erhun Gabarris
|
Know arcana, Doll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Know Arcana, pale quartz: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Erhun takes a few moments to study both the doll and the pale quartz inside its chest
GM Computerpro82
|
Erhun looks at the doll and the Pale blue quartz but can't decipher the arcane energies surrounding them, although the Pale blue quartz appears to be a pretty valuable art piece.
I'l have the next section set up later today. In the meantime, if anyone else has Arcana and wants to look at these items, they are welcome to.
Isandra Aemaldir
|
Isandra has no studies of the Arcane sadly.
She will move out and return to the goblins to ensure them everything is alright and get them ready to move as soon as they are able.
Naomi Hiddenleaf
|
Wow, didn't realize I missed out on arcana and took spellcraft instead. Guess I'll fix that next level.
Naomi takes the crystal and hides it in her pack for later identification, unless someone else wants to id it.
She otherwise scouts around inside and outside the hut. She also makes sure there is plenty if room so the fire won't spread when he burns the house down.

The party has now left Irrisen behind and crossed into the easternmost region of the Lands of the Linnorm Kings, a barren and well defended land called Hagreach. You should expect no more trouble as the castellan has given his blessing for you to escort your captives to the extraction team. The map indicates a Blackraven way station along the trackless route to Trollheim where your party may rest and recuperate before the last leg of their journey.
The woods open to a clearing where a large, grass-covered mound, like a small oblong hill, dominates the area. A stout wooden door is set directly into the side of the mound, while a thin trail of smoke rises from the very top. Immediately to the south is a wooden horse stable, all of its doors closed.
A Man emerges to greet you.
Hail Pathfinders, I am Enrik Ironjaw. The castellan of the Blackravens told me you were coming. Let me show you a place to secure your prisoners while we have some food and drink before the next leg of your journey.
Egavreis Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Erhun Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Isandra Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Kaidynn Sense Motive: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (11) - 2 = 9
Khon'Ur Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Naomi Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
You realize that Ironjaw is only feigning friendliness and that something is wrong.
New Slide 2 with Map, very big map so the squares are very small.

This place is rather far off the beaten path. Woda and I have our horses in there, but we closed the doors to keep the wind out.
Naomi, there is nothing unnatural here, and I don't that your dog has any kind of Sense Motive. Is there some sort of sense or skill I am missing?
Naomi Hiddenleaf
|
Dogs have, or should have, scent. Dogs as animals tend to be more in tune with things that are unknown or threats (Teak is a guard dog and thus combat trained, which definitely helps in the threat detection area, at least narratively speaking). They don't get as distracted or blinded by logic, reason, and self-deception as people and can sense a person's energy in a way the people are blind to. That is largely my personal experience with real dogs of course, but on a mechanical level at least, if dogs don't have scent then some dev screwed up big time. And the scent feature is the only thing I'm actually expecting to come into play, though the rest would be cool to see. :)
Naomi quirks an eyebrow at the response but simply moves on to introductions, gesturing to everyone in turn with their name, including the goblins, though she leaves them for last.
GM Computerpro82
|
I agree that dogs have scent. Scent is going to definitely going to alert the dog to anything unnatural, so the person you are seeing is a person, not a shape-shifter or anything along those lines. If you really want to try and focus on the dog's reaction. You might find the dog slightly uneasy with the situation, but there is no reaction indicating an obvious threat.
Isandra Aemaldir

Isandra keeps her cannibal kindergartners goblins close, and whispers to the others. "Something is off. I think he's bluffing."
"Oh, they have been behaving actually pretty well. They even warned us about one of the Witches' many minions. Don't worry, I can keep an eye on them. Is there anything we can help here? We have a way of solving problems."
Did we get any description of the person we were supposed to hand the goblins over? Better not eat anything and stall to look around?
GM Computerpro82
|
Isandra, according to your instructions, you handoff point is near the city of Trollheim. You didn't get any information about anyone meeting you here. I'll assume the other question is to the party.
Don't you want to have them out from underfoot and have a decent meal before you move on? I am sure you could use a hot meal.
Enrik moves toward the door to the longhouse, motioning for you to follow.
Egavreis
|
Egavreis follows, keeping his knives close to hand but hidden.

Perception check to notice Egavreis knives: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Enrik turns to see if you are following. Well come on. Your food will get cold if you dawdle out here.
Khon'Ur
|
Aye! Finally, a little grub and booze and we can get rid of these chattering bastards for a while!
Isandra Aemaldir
|
We were told to hide our presence until we got to our destination. I think this is a trap she whispers to the others. She will insist of keeping the goblins close and don't eat anything.
GM Computerpro82
|
Well come on inside then. Enrik booms as he heads into the door to the longhouse.
Since no one is overtly objecting, I will go ahead and move you to the door into the longhouse.
As you move in the door, you can see the kitchen in front of you, due South (you came from the North) The remnants of today’s meal lie strewn about, as though someone shirked his duty to clean up after cooking.
To your left (East) you see Barracks. Modest two-tiered bunks fill the room.
Khon'Ur
|
Khon'Ur walks inside and sits down at the table - of course at the head of the table. Hey, owners, bring a beer, my throat is dry!
Isandra Aemaldir
|
Isandra ushers the goblins inside but waits at the entry of the barracks and the dinning room. She wants to let a few more of us ahead and then move the goblins in the middle of them for protection.
"Ah, seems like we interrupted your meals, apologies. If you don't have enough food for the goblins, we have rations for them."
Can Isandra tell if there are more people inside? Anything that would give them away as Shadow Lodge agents?
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
GM Computerpro82
|
Isandra can see that it looks like there are more dishes in the kitchen than one person would use, unless it was over several days. You might guess three people, plus or minus? Nothing that screams Shadow Lodge
Enrik responds to Khon'Ur's request: Yes, Yes, let us get your Goblin charges secured, then we will all have a nice meal and some beer.
Bring the Goblins this way, and we can secure them in our storage room.
He starts to lead you down a long hallway lined with trophies of years of battle between the Blackravens and the monstrous armies of Irrisen.
Isandra Aemaldir
|
"My apologies, but the goblins stay here with us. They are in our charge. It's important they don't leave our sight. As I said, they have behaved just fine, helped even. If you wish to eat first, please, go ahead, I understand. I'll wait with them here then take our turn by the entry."
She looks back at the rest of group hoping they can back her up.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Naomi Hiddenleaf

Holy cow! That place is massive! That's basically a castle. Super expensive. Are we really supposed to think one guy, or even three are legitimately here by themselves? This is sized like a high noble's estate.
Naomi follows behind the goblins, keeping another set of eyes on them, while also staying out of the way.
GM Computerpro82

Enrik looks disappointed for a moment, then sets his strong jaw and furrows his brow. “Freyr Darkwine is no king,” he says. “It is not for him to erase a weregild of a thousand years to convenience the Pathfinders. Kill us all if you must, but you’ll not drag us before his justice. Those goblins will die like the monsters they are!”
I took the liberty of moving the rest of the party up to their usual marching order.

Isandra gives a confused double take at the man. "Who is Freyr-? What-?"
And instincts kick in. "Take cover under there!" She orders the goblins to move under/behind the bed to use it as cover and as she calls the Fire of Sarenrae to dissuade the man from engaging with them.

GM Computerpro82

Isandra's Flaming magic misses Enrik.
Enrik moves toward the Goblins, drawing his battleaxe as he moves. He has to double move to get where he ends up,
Khon'Ur and Isandra definitely get an Attack of Opportunity (AoO) as he tries to move toward the Goblins. I illustrated his path, and if any of the others he moves past have Combat Reflexes and can AoO before you act, you can take an AoO as well.
Enrik says Freyr Darkwine is the head of the Blackravens, and he has sold us out to the Pathfinders, allowing you to bring these filthy Goblins through our lands.

All those who failed secret Sense Motive check (like Khon'Ur) really entered the house with a drawn weapon in hands? I think my character sat down just to drink at the table... Hmm... However, he has already put on a shield so he can hit with it.
Light Steel Shield: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 181d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Khon'Ur thrusts the man right in the face with a shield, catching the momentum from his movement so that his own blow becomes stronger. Not so fast, buddy. I'm still waiting my beer!
Egavreis

Some of us are just always ready to stab people.
Egavreis looks to Naomi, poised to move either direction based on her actions (i.e. does she set up a flank).

Hah, brilliant! You made me laugh. I cannot dispute this in any way at all, because I understand it with all my heart .)

GM if the goblins are brought to negative numbers will you let us use Stabilize/Heal? If so, Isandra will probably hold her next action to make sure channel energy is available to keep them alive.
GM Computerpro82
|
I will definitely let you take whatever steps you need to to keep the Goblins alive. Stabilize/Heal and tracking negative HP to negative Con is definitely on the table. I will tell you Khon'Ur hit him hard with that shield bash. Khon'Ur's comment was right though. I don't think most of you would have had weapons out, and those of you without a BAB of 1 can't draw them while moving.
I love that Egavreis is just always ready to stab people. I think that is why people think of the society as murder hobos, but that isn't always bad.
Kaidynn
|
"Fools! these goblin thralls have no information! only I, their leader, has the secret knowledge your masters seek to eradicate! muhahahahaha! you have been duped! kill the useless goblins, for all I care, while I escape with my life and all the juicy secret information intact! muhahahaha!"

Naomi is trying to herd the Goblins out of line of sight.

Enrik AoO on Ehrun grapples attempt: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Enrik misses a big swing with the Greataxe and Erhun succeeds at the grapple.
I will note to Egavreis that Enrik is currently holding a two-handed Greataxe that he can't use while he is grappled. You can just make it to flank with Erhun if you want to.
