I'm here -- no gameplay thread yet, though.

Slides and Macros done.

Alright, everyone please check in and fill out the RPG Chronicles info. I will be starting soon!
Qigiq "White Hawk"
|
Still need to level up and make purchases, but I'm here.
FieryFran
|
I'll be switching to this PC instead, given how Dyner has already been to Sakakabe.
Not Symeon Isafira? :)
Stersk Moltengaze

Well if you wanted a healer who's level 4 and going make things difficult without doing much to help mitigate that, I could... But more importantly, I've been wanting to bring Stersk into Society play ever since I finished Fall of Plaguestone with him.
| GM Enchanter |
Kondai, please make sure you sign in on RPG Chronicles. I think this puts us at 24 challenge points if Kondai is now level 3.
Also, everyone, please add your icons and info to the initial slides with your marching order.

School Item: Scroll of Resist Energy
Do we need Comprehend Languages for this scenario?
| GM Enchanter |
No Comprehend Languages needed. Let's say that Amara Li can send along a translator.
FieryFran

Minor Healing Potion as my school item.

Does the +1 from the magic weapon stack with bless? I didn't add it thinking it didn't (and I might be outside the range of bless). If I'm still within the Bless radius and the +1 does stack, just add 1 to my attack roll.
Qigiq "White Hawk"

Magic Weapon is a +1 item bonus. Bless is a +1 status bonus. :)

Before I forget, Fran will train out of a feat instead of rolling downtime.
| GM Enchanter |
I'm so sorry. Take the time you need. I was a mess after my dog died.

GAK! Help!
| GM Enchanter |
Probably past time for hero points.
Each person, please nominate two characters for hero points. You can put them in spoilers or not.

Qigiq and Stersk
Stersk Moltengaze

Qigig and Alaric!
There we've completed the circle!
But in all seriousness, Qigig is a shoo in at this point and Stersk could use a hero point pretty well. He rolls twice the d20s of most characters (flat checks.)
Qigiq "White Hawk"

The problem with the staff is that you need to set it up during your morning preparations.
| GM Enchanter |
Hero Points go to Qigiq, Alaric, and Samna (as a tie)!
True about the staff. I suppose you can use it to cast the cantrip at will. If you wanted to retreat back to the village, that might be possible too, but you could lose the trail of the thief.
| GM Enchanter |
Alaric, you only get one item of the three the caravan was offering. If you take the Staff of Fire, then you can't also have the Wand of Heal.

It doesn’t matter with those results, but just a reminder that Frightened affects all checks and DCs, including AC, not just attack rolls.
| GM Enchanter |
Very true. That grapple check and the save should have been one lower. Also, I think that would make the escape check for Samna to be one lower, which might be important.

That Produce Flame crit will also cause 2d4 Persistent fire damage. While this wouldn't stack with Incendiary Aura this Produce Flame persistent fire damage would deal double damage as it was dealt due to a critical hit with the new errata I believe.
I don't think this persistent damage that gets added because of a crit (much like the extra die from deadly/fatal) gets doubled. If it was something in the base spell then most certainly. (Also, given how it's already heightened, wouldn't double be 4d4?)
Qigiq "White Hawk"
|
Yeah. Produce Flame is different than what they're talking about in the errata. You only have persistent damage from Produce Flame on a critical hit. Acid Arrow would be what the errata is talking about.
EDIT: However, you do get two chances to roll high. One 2d4 with crit and one 2d4 with aura, take the highest.
| GM Enchanter |
I agree that you shouldn't double the 2d4 persistent from Produce Flame. That's already the crit effect.
However, I went into a forum rabbit hole on how to handle the same persistent damage from different sources, and I'm still not 100% sure. You can't have more than one persistent fire condition at one time. Since it's both 2d4 persistent fire, I'm just going to simplify that to one instance of 2d4, rather than rolling each time. Will that technically mean less damage? Yes, and I'm very aware you might need all the help you can get here, but I don't want to get into tracking multiple instances of possible damage. With Incendiary Aura, I could be tracking every instance of fire damage, not to mention potentially more crits from Produce Flame. That way seems to veer towards madness.
I'm also grateful that I don't have to figure out whether 2d4 is more than a flat 5 or not.

Ah yup that would likely make more sense with the acid arrow. Correct since it is the same damage it would overall be one set of 2d4 Persistent fire damage. You wouldn't roll roll both for the highest result. It would be different if one did 2d4 persistent and the other did 3d4 persistent. Then the higher (3d4) would take effect.
| GM Enchanter |
Yeah, she's a huge handful for this level. She can take one of you down each turn, so you really have to leverage the action economy as your only advantage to try and outlast her.
