I recently purchased a pdf for download that turned out to be 44 mb. No big deal I thought. Except that I can't seem to download it faster than 3.5 kb/s, which if you're counting, is very slooow. Is this normal? I finally got the thing downloaded and have noticed several places where the image is displaced to the left or right in bands 20-30 pixels wide. Is that a problem with the download or the original.
I'm trying the download again at home, but now I'm averaging 2.4 kb/s - oy.
Thanks for the help!

Well, our bandwidth is pretty maxed out in general, and yesterday specifically was particularly busy. We'll currently negotiating to double our available bandwidth, though.
Out of curiousity, did your download speed start that low, or did it gradually lower to that after a little while? Did it fluctuate up and down, or only down, or was it just steadily slow?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but I'm guessing you're talking about one of the Wizards of the Coast 1st or 2nd Edition D&D PDFs... the quality control on many of those is sorely lacking.

Both times it started at around 4 kbs. The first time, the most I saw was ~6.5 kbs and the lowest was ~2.5 kbps. The second time it immediately slowed to ~2.4 kbs, but near the end it was screaming along at almost 9.0 kbs! That was probably around 2100 PST. So within those parameters, it fluctuated both up and down.

It was Greyhawk: The Adventure Begins. The strange image quality was not repeated the second time I downloaded it. *shrugs* Who knows what that was about?
I've said it before, but it bears repeating. The quality control of some of those old products may be sorely lacking, but Paizo as a whole has got it nailed. The experience that I get from the magazine (only Dungeon at the moment) coupled with the messageboards is truly excellent. I'd like to thank you once again for all of your hard work. It really pays off in my eyes as a customer. You folks are the best.
I'll be eagerly awaiting the increased bandwidth almost as much as you will, I'm sure!
