In a bygone era, the hobgoblin pirate Dakhaan sailed the seas when Sharn was young. He would plunder and pillage the shipping between the southern coast of Khorvaire and Xen'drik. Legend has it that he took twelve items corresponding to the elemental planes -- 3 items of fire, 3 items of earth, 3 items of water, and 3 items of air; as part of his pillaging.
He hid these items in both Xen'drik and Khorvaire. Then, after the maps were produced that showed the location of each of the twelve items, he shot dead all those who knew and hid the four maps to each of the elemental items. For now, years passed and the hobgoblin empire fell. Now humans reign supreme in Khorvaire, and rumors that Darguun stirs to find the items again.
Now a race is on to recover the artifacts. A race that Breland intends to win.
