I think, rather than it being hit points that slow us down, it is statuses that do so. Things that can't be healed by Treat Wounds and begin to stack up bit more and more slog the group down as resources are spent.
I definitely do feel like that 2e is much more "move forward and keep moving forward" than 1e was, especially with how much healing is available.

Oh absolutely. With the way you can heal - because practically EVERYBODY can do it if they have Medicine - it really helps you keep rolling along.
Unlike PF1 when your 1st level cleric runs out of channels then you're just out of luck.

Well, good news.
No lion or hyena attacks occured, and as far as I know, I have not contracted malaria, but we will see in a few weeks. Bugs were pretty bent on taking a sip of my crimson juice.
So anyway - I will unpack, and try to catch up on the 30 posts in gameplay. I do apologise in advance if I miss something.
Thanks for putting up with my slow pace in the last two weeks.

I'm actually getting slammed at work today, lol.
I am suspecting that everyone is done with exploration of this area, yes? Ready to move on to the next section? I noticed that Oren's token moved on the map, but he hasn't actually posted anything.
Anyway, I'll check back in after work.
Caiten |
Hope work clears up Caiten!
Blargh.
But I guess it is probably for the best that things like this happen sometimes. Otherwise I would be completely replaceable.
Caiten |
Extra question - Is anyone injured?
Looking through the enemy posts from the last combat: Lisi, Joran, and Dario are down a small amount. Lisi maybe a little more comparatively.
Caiten |
And I guess a good follow-up question on that: Do we want to have healing be pushed or requested?
Cevendyll can sneak up and Lay on Hands to someone as long as they are willing. They don't really need to participate.
Goodberry is a bit ambiguous, but most of the people I have talked to say that since Potions can be fed to someone who isn't actively fighting against it, then Goodberry can be as well - even though it doesn't actually have that rule like Potions do.
Treat Wounds probably needs the recipient to at least be staying in one place for the process. So they could be doing something like refocusing or analyzing magic, but not searching a room.
But I think more important to get everyone on the same page is - should injured people go to one of the healers and request healing, or should the healers be trying to push healing onto the injured?
Cevendyll |
I think there are a couple approaches, which mostly depend on both campaign & character style.
In a low-RP campaign, I think we could agree on a mechanic and just bot it or handwave it.
In a high-RP style though (like Joran being overprotective of the town), I would think we would want some or a bunch of character input. All of those 'heals' are not the same. Cev's spells are completely and utterly divine, without any question, and his ability to use poitive energy is divine in premise if not specifically in practice. Similarly, the berries are, I think, Primal in 2E, so kinda like nature-divine as opposed to godly-divine. Bandages & that oil Yas keeps using are, well, normal and non-magical. So a character who was predisposed not to like any of those things, might not want those healings. LOL like if Alak could heal, it seems like Yasamina might still refuse.
Just some thoughts.

Sorry, had some website trouble and just...like...*points at the world*
Anyhow, Imma catch up now.

Yeah, I have been having intermittent problems with these forums. Randomly getting 503 errors or timeout. Then 30 minutes later it is working again.
... Well, working as well as normal anyway.
Yep. Constant trouble. Paizo didn't use to be this bad. They actually use to fix board issues. I just don't think they care anymore. But that's just my take.

Oh, Cev, are you still using my sword or did you give it back and just haven't told me? Just so I know if I can pull it out if needed.

Page refreshes after my last post. 4 minutes ago and now ahead of Joran's post.

Sword returned sir, thank you for the reminder!
Caiten |
Are you sure you would do that...?
Hmm...
No, Caiten is not quite socially inept enough to ... ignore Dario's warnings.
Give me a minute or 30 or so. I'll post something up.
Cevendyll |
I'm not gonna get all like, K10 about it, but if you look at the math and the life represented, it's pretty amazing. Even if you subtract the broken legs but retain the vacations and other RL speed bumps, this is an amazing group of highly engaged responsive people.
PbP has not impressed me overall, this group though, has.
A lot.

I gotta admit, this is definitely rare. You don't see this very often. And not seeing it very often is being generous. It's more closer to... rare. At least in my experience. The high majority of games are not like this. But I feel this game is steady. Smooth and steady. It's not too fast, it's not too slow. It's just right in my opinion. Absolute fun and a great game. Just love it.
Caiten |
I'm good with some beneficial chronomancy for a change. The only question I have is how we get to the lower levels. But I'm sure you won't leave us uncertain on that for long.
Just give us an ending point on the time skip and we can fill in anything noteworthy on our end that we do during that time.
Cevendyll |
Do you guys want to time skip to your return to town? Like fast forward going back to the citadel, grabbing the weapons, and walking back? Or is there other stuff you want to do back in the citadel?
I think the only other loose end is our "dragon overlords" ;)

For me it is that each of you is eager in their own way, an amazing way in every case. We all want to matter; we want to be called, we want to be talked to, we want to be texted back: this campaign texts back. EVERY. TIME.

OK. Some mechanics to work out regarding these +1 runes on weapons that need transferred.
First: Fern, is this allowed: I am thinking of disassembling one of the runes to learn the formula for them. However, I can't use the formula without the Magical Crafting feat - which I am planning on getting at 4th level. But am I still allowed to learn and record the formula now?
Also, when disassembling one of the runes in this way, it will leave me with 50% of the value of the rune in materials. Can I then turn that into 5 sets of 10% of materials to use to fund the process of transferring the other 5 runes onto different weapons?
And finally, is everyone else in the party OK with me destroying one of these +1 runes? If I am counting noses and runes correctly, that means that we would be short 1 rune from being able to have everyone having one of them. I don't have a primary weapon, so I don't know which one I would want it on. And Lisi tends to use magic instead of weapons. But it is something we should discuss first.
Caiten |
Transferring the runes costs 10% of the cost of the rune. So 3.5 GP each for these +1 Weapon Potency runes.
So to transfer all 6 of them, that would cost 21 GP in additional materials. I'm not sure we even have that much currently.
If I instead disassemble one of the runes, the materials remaining from the rune will cover the costs of transferring the 5 remaining runes. I think selling one of the weapons would also cover the cost. I forget if things sell for 50% or 10%. Starfinder is 10% IIRC, but I don't remember if PF2 matches that or not.
Edit: I checked, it does list 50% for sale price of things. At least in general.

Yes, indeed.
I have some ideas and things to run through in-character with everyone, but it will have to wait until the immediate events of the Pickled Ear are resolved.
Javell DeLeon |
Ugh. Killing me, Yasamina. If Joran was there he'd be doing: THIS :P
Cevendyll |
We do actually need a full rest ... is there a reason we aren't going to just go see Joran's girlfriend and get GOOD food over at the Wizard's Grace? Like we don't have to be all in at the Pickled Ear, we could just go get rooms and act like normal people ;)
Caiten |
I'm expecting that we will do that right after speaking with Roxie.
Though I could be wrong about that. Depends on what we hear.

My thought had been that we could take rooms, store things, become clean, ask Alak to change into something less ... Hellknightish, and then move forward.
Mostly because in the absense of any other narrative, there are like 4 or 5 people, a couple of Worgs, and an unpotted plant just standing in the street.
Oren Strelov |

I'm sure at this point they've gotta be used to that. "Oh there's a bunch of people in the street with worgs and a plant? Must be Joran and his friends again." Lol

Hey, come on! I get the feeling that the Pickled Ear tends to be a place for the Guts of Breachill society to gather. You need to assert dominance in those kind of establishments.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Just woke up. Friend had a wedding yesterday, so I'm still a little - 'socially exhausted'.
Yeah if Pickled Ear investigation does not lead to the elven gate, Yasamina will tend to go pursue the elven gate in favour of some minor weapon smuggling. Though they might be connected. Might.

I love it honestly. I had a feeling it was going to be like this when I saw there was a swashbuckler in the group, they and the gunslinger had to work together. It is too natural.
I'm in the same mindset; Dario isn't here to bust her for smuggling some Hellknight gear but to track down the elven woman and the elven gate. Having friends in low places is a good thing to have in a town like this.

He's a gunslinger. She's a swashbuckler. They have 48 hours to find the Elf Gate before all Hell breaks loose.
Dario: "I'm too old for this @#$t."
Either that or "In The Air Tonight" plays as they head to the Pickled Ear

We need an angry captain, a guy that's 1 month into retirement, and third act argument that almost destroys the parthership to make this movie.
