Star Love |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

The pulsing mass of organic machinery that is Star Love turns in the direction of the arrow (a fraction of a second faster due to a guiding chirp from the technorganic clockwork monkey on their shoulder) and their optical sensors lock onto the archer's own glowing eyes.
Images cascade through their memory banks of various foes witnessed by the Phyrexians, and those they've assimilated.
"Fascinating. Self suspects a dread wrath sovereign. Incorporeal. Undead. Immune to cold. Hampered by daylight. Essense-sucking touch. That this one wields a weapon is unusual. Self ponders what else it is capable of, and will now test its defenses."
As they speak, Star Love is already surging into the air with a halo of spinning nanobots surrounding him, and crashes down in an attempt to impale the stealthy archer.
While their nano-whip transmogrifies itself to affect the archer’s incorporeal form, Star Love uses another one of their other arms to inject themself with an ampule of nanoboosters.

Eladithas Starchild |

Eladithas was attacked and the black knight needs to make a save.

Voice of Awesomeness |

I'm going to resolve actions based on order posted: Ie Liliya to Star Love.
Despite the sniper's best efforts, it does not appear that the graveknight is at all startled or distracted by her faux attack. Uncanny Dodge/can't be caught or made flat-footed.
However, the actual shots with her demonically empowered rifle all land true, though they do not seem to hurt the armored warrior as much as they should. Damage Reduction 10/Epic, Absorb Blow, immune to holy damage.
Rook does not appear to detect any hostility from either the knight or their invisible attacker. At first this baffles the crystalline construct, until Star Love announces in their dispassionate, analytic manner that the other foe is undead. Which, are immune to mind affecting effects. Since you can't sense the archer, you may either redirect your crystal shards vs the graveknight or you may fully re-do your action.
Then Krynn offers an honorable duel to which the undead champion replies in kind. "A most noble challenge, one I gladly take up! However, your allies act with far less honor than you do. If you truly intend to duel me, tell them to stand down, and I will likewise do the same." He responds, in a hollow, booming voice that echoes within the cavern.
He effortlessly turns aside Krynn's attack with his massive, mailed fist, while he waits for the paladin's reply. 1d20 + 50 ⇒ (17) + 50 = 67 Incredible Parry.
The vile knight easily shrugs off Eladithas' attempt to curse him 1d20 + 35 ⇒ (20) + 35 = 55 Will save.
While Star Love is able to correctly identify the dread wraith sovereign, it's blow with it's whip fails to penetrate the archer's defenses.

Liliyashanina |

I have clustered shots, so the DR10 should only apply once

Krynn of the Wyred |

Then Krynn offers an honorable duel to which the undead champion replies in kind. "A most noble challenge, one I gladly take up! However, your allies act with far less honor than you do. If you truly intend to duel me, tell them to stand down, and I will likewise do the same." He responds, in a hollow, booming voice that echoes within the cavern.
Seeing his attack skillfully parried, Krynn grins slightly. "As you say, I will ask. Should they consent, we will duel one on one."
He looks back at those around him. "As a Tromek warrior, I cannot ignore a challenge. However, the stakes are creation itself, I am aware that doing so endangers the mission. Do you agree to stand down, or do we continue this fight as a group?"
Tbh It isn't a good move for Krynn to take the challenge as he is built mostly as a healer/support, but he has to take it as an honorable samurai. That said, he can probably hold his own fairly well. Though I'm also aware OOC that it might be boring for others to not do something as they watch the fight. With mythic vital strike being banned, Krynn would retrain that mythic feat for an extra conscript ability and pick Vindictive Smite.

Liliyashanina |

Honestly, I would frankly be betting on the Death Knight in this, may I inquire why you fight us in the first place? And how you manage to become immune to holy damage? Inquiring minds want to know!
On any account, you can hardly refuse my wish to bless this mighty Tromek before such a clash yes? I can be enticed to not attack you for the durtion of the duel, but to do nothing while a client fights for his life is not compatible with the honor of my arms.
bluff, using perform sing: 1d20 + 35 + 20 ⇒ (17) + 35 + 20 = 72 Glibness
Liliya is proud, somewhat vain and does view honor as a useful tool. She also does not think that Krynn would win this. Alas, she has a number of buffs to cast on him.
She blows a kiss to Krynn.
Mythic heroism, +4 morale to attack, damage and saves a bunch of things.
Now, I wonder where the spectator is She speaks as she rapidly moves through a number of positions, hoping to "accidentally" collide with him.

Voice of Awesomeness |

"A person is known by the company they keep. You are working with somebody that relies on obfuscation, and is very practiced at that. I wouldn't be inclined to trust such a deal when half the team is hiding away."
"Just because my ally is hidden, does not mean you can not trust me. However, if you wish for this to be an all out melee, than we are more than willing to slaughter you where you stand." It says simply, in reply to Rook.
Liliya is not going to be able 'accidentally' bump into the incroperal archer, lol

Star Love |

"As Krynn says, the stakes are high here. Self does not understand, what advantage comes to our cause, if most of us stand aside and watch? Self is still learning about Good, but allowing any advantage to these Evil Undead--while our own cause is dire--does not make sense to Self."

Krynn of the Wyred |

Hearing everyone's reactions (except Dyrvic's - where had he gone? A second loss already?), Krynn nods solemnly. "It seems my allies do not agree to the concept of a duel. Regrettably, I can then only treat this as a fight with multiple combatants. May the best warrior win."

Liliyashanina |

Slaughter us were we stand? You dare to threaten a Night Witch, Hero of the Soviet Union and blade of midnight? I killed a Malebranche, who are you even, demanding the honors of a duel without even stating your name? What manner of tasteless Churl are thee?
Liliya angel wings seem to transform to those of a bat, and her carefully manicured nails turn into claws with her eyes turning pitch black strictly narrative, she used to be a rather proud Succubus after all
You stand before Liliyashanina, Lady of Luralune, slayer of the Malebranche Mussolini, and I claim that you challenged us all by your foolish threat!
Unless of course my fellow comrades, whose glory and deeds I do not fully know, disagree with this assessment
Guys, you are level 15, mythic 5, shout your great victories to the heavens so that your party members are actually aware what you did!
bluff: 1d20 + 51 ⇒ (13) + 51 = 64 She is bluffing Krynn into believing that the dread knight just challenged the entire party, and that combining forces against this arrogant probably honorless cur is honorable and legit! Especially since she is probably mimicking some parts of Tromek honor codes by stating who and what she is, even though her conception of honor is probably quite distanced from his. Totally in character for her. I also think its an completely fair use of bluff against a party member :)
The blades of midnight are Nocticulas champions and special forces.
Admission to the blades of midnight requires either killing a blade of midnight, or killing something that killed a blade of midnight, as well as Nocticula accepting the person in question. This makes killing a blade kind of risky.
Of course, if someone was to actually kill Liliya, after publically stating what she is, he/she would paint a giant target on his/her back. But, if sufficiently powerful, could also regard the resulting assassination attempts as "self delivered loot", which is what the dread knight sovereign is probably going to go for.
Clearly, Liliya mouthing off what she is will totally not come back to bite her in her rather shapely ass yesyes

Krynn of the Wyred |

Sense motive: 1d20 + 46 ⇒ (13) + 46 = 59
Krynn seems, at first, confused by Lily's shoutout, as this behavior didn't seem much different from that of most Angen considering themselves superior to the reclusive and sometimes condisered 'weird' elves of his nation. Of course, that was moments before they usually died - or worse, made into an example. The wounds of the recent civil war in which the Traitor Garmina had opened the nation's borders to outside invaders were still fresh.
However... the... aasimar/succubus, whichever she was, had a point. It could be considered a direct challenge to everyone at once, and then to not allow them the opportunity to defend their own honor would be dihonorable from him. Or worse, impolite on his part, which was usually a suicide-worthy and expected transgression.
"I suppose Lady Liliyashanina has a point. It would be a mistake on my part to deny my allies the right to defend their own honor." There is a very faint grin towards the riflewoman as he reassumes his fighting stance, facing the knight.

Voice of Awesomeness |

"Then your fate is sealed!" The death knight shouts, and smashes his fist into Krynn.
1d20 + 54 ⇒ (16) + 54 = 70 for 6d8 + 44 + 5d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 1, 5, 8, 4) + 44 + (6, 5, 3, 3, 1) = 90 Smite Good
Krynn takes 90 damage, which thanks to it being from Smite Good, bypasses any DR. 18 points is Hellfire damage, which ignores any resistance to fire, and requires a caster level check DC 32 to heal. The other 72 damage may be healed normally.
He is saving his other 3 attacks for parrying.

Krynn of the Wyred |

The hit is good. Really, it is. Made him rotate his neck to go with the punch. More than could be said for most.
Krynn grins as he looks back. "Well done, Angen. A regret that we couldn't settle this properly."
Meanwhile, Star Love also feels pain, as if the attack had struck it as well! Strange, how that worked?
Free action: Incoming damage is split between Krynn and Star love 50-50. Krynn takes 45 damage, which is stored in hi delayed damage pool as nonlethal damage for being a guardian sphere user.
"Come, everyone! let's finish this and move on. For Tromek and its allies!"
He 5-ft flies backward and begins rousing his allies, then briefly heals himself. Star Love, meanwhile, feels whatever pain it felt mostly disappear. Then, his sword begins to shine with a bright light!
Move action 1: Inspire Courage +5 on everyone. Move action 2: Mandate: When Krynn or Star love are healed, the other gains the same amount in temporary hit points (costs 1 SP > 39/47). Swift: Lay on Hands self. Passive: next attack does extra damage from battle fervor. Standard: Activates Divine Bond. His weapon now ignores 'non living matter', such as armor and shield bonus to AC.
LoH: 9d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 1, 4, 3, 4, 5, 3) = 31
Krynn's LoH passively heals the same amount of hit points in nonlethal damage, whixh his talented delayed damage pool is made of. Thus it clears his delayed damage pool as healing. Star love gains 36 temporary hit points. Since Krynn failed the cl check to overcome the hellfire damage CL check below, but as it was split between two, he is left with 9 damage below below max.

If the archer counts as a caster, magic-wielding creature or magical beast, all his attacks miss Krynn as that would add +3 to each parry. If the archer doesn't have access to magic of any kind, only the first attack hits. Also, since krynn is flying 5ft off the ground, I'm not sure if his +7 to hit from height advantage applies to parries. I decided not to add it but if it does then it also misses.
The Fiery Tornado suddenly envelops Krynn and the death knight, but just as suddenly there is a whirl of motion and most, if not all of the arrows miss the Tromek elf. He looks in the direction of the shots and nods. "Good shots! Really, against most people that would have been quite devastating."
He shifts his focus back to the death knight.
HP: 271 or 240, if the first attack hits. In that case Star Love as the other melee also takes 31. Krynn has DR8/b so the 70 is reduced to 62 before splitting.

Rook readies an action vs the archer.
I screwed up, and forgot to have the wraith stealth after it's attack, thus it is currently 'visible' for this round. Make your attack(s) Eladithas.
Star Love's attack doesn't even come close to penetrating the dread knight's defenses. [ooc]Are you attacking his normal AC? If so, a 49 is nowhere near enough to hit.
Before the armored warrior attacks again, Krynn's mind is assaulting by a massively devastating psychic attack. A new challenger approaches! You need to make a Will save. No special defenses, immunities, resistances, rerolls, bonuses from allies, etc apply.

Krynn of the Wyred |

So I don't know if this matters, but everyone: if you flank someone with Krynn you get a +8 bonus to hit from outflank and his tactical totem. Also, we're using combat stamina rules so you can use up to 5 points from your stamina pool (Pool = BAB + conmod as points) to add up to 5 more to hit to an attack. If you're going with vital strike (was that mythic VS?), probably worth using the stamina espcially since Krynn can heal spent stamina.

Eladithas first strike lands true, though due to incorporeal nature of the archer, it does not deal as much damage as the luckbringer would hope. Incorporeal creatures take half damage from non force attacks.
The death knight laughs, a chillingly evil, haunting sound. He nods respectfully to Krynn "You were a worthy opponent, but since you turned down my offer for an honorable duel, it's time to end you."
The green flames infusing his armor flare up suddenly, and reinforces his armor. No mechanical effect, but he is using an ability, so this is just some flavor.

Dread Knight infuses it's weapon with negative energy. Krynn takes 245 damage total. 35 damage is Hellfire, and can't be resisted, 60 is negative energy damage.

Krynn of the Wyred |

Reading Mental block over another couple of times, I think that would mean each precast spell functions as normal, like contingent spell cure. Is this correct? The ability doesn't state Krynn wouldn't be able to make use of spell effects already in place, such as redirect damage to other via the ongoing Aegis on everyone (community talent of Aegis, the protection sphere of power basic ability). I believe those are effects of the magic itself and not of supernatural or extraordinary abilities. Similarly I don't think the swashbuckler parry wouldn't work as it's not a feat or any typed ability called out in the spell. So:
Krynn's eyes glaze over in the middle of the fight, and he looks around confused, not feeling quite like himself. As if he'd lost focus and couldn't quite regain it? And his sense of magics had suddenly disappeared as well, though he'd not caught anyone actually casting spells? Just what was going on? Was there another unseen attacker?
Yet, even distracted he is able to parry the incoming blows - if barely. "Thank you. And I believe your spellcaster friend would make a good Wyred like myself, should they be willing. However, I do believe I will pass on being ended today."

I don't know if the death knight's version of parry is an attack roll. It usually is. I think that means that Krynn can parry incoming parries in between his attacks as he has infinite AoO's. If he can, he would attempt parrying the parry at 1d20+53 to make the normal attack succeed.
Extra effects: Don't know if sphere effects of physical spheres work under mental block. If they do, the death knight is bleeding for an amount of 6 x the times he was hit, has a -6 penalty to attack rolls while the bleed lasts. The bleed requires a DC 35 heal check or 20 hp of magical healing in one go to remove or in three turns he will die each turn if he rolls a 1 on a fort save (I assume he can only fail a dc 277 fortsave on a one.). Also, he cannot make AoO's for five rounds if he is hit once, takes a -6 penalty to ac and a -2 on saves for five rounds if he is hit twice or three times. Also, if either of Krynn's third or fourth attacks confirm the critical, everyone can make an AoO against the death knight if they can from outflank.

Krynn of the Wyred |

Retcon, as unfortunately this happened in a universe where he was partially and not completely unable to still fight.
Unable to defend against the attack in any way what with the strange inability to use any and all of abilities, Krynn is hit twice with overwhelming force. He survives only because of the heal spell he previously cast on himself, and it was clear for all to see that even a demigod-like fighter like him could only take so many more of these. Even knowing he was probably about to die from either the next attack from either the death knight, the archer or the still unknown spellcaster around somewhere, he still tried attacking the Knight to the best of his ability.
60 damage is converted into incoming non-lethal damage and is healed away for free from the below attack, but the remaining 185 would put him from 271 to 86, which is below half. His triggered heal then heals him for the below + 48 temporary hit points:
healing: 5d8 + 95 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 6, 6) + 95 = 124
Back to 210 + 48 temporary hit points. 44 hellfire damage taken. Gains a +5 luck bonus to his attacks, damage rolls and saves for 1 around. Then he full attacks the death knight anyway using the above rolls, only add +5 to hit on all of them and +5 damage on all of them, 10 for crits. Then remove all precision damage as mental blocks also stops this, and no bonus effects of any of his strikes apply since mental block also stops all of those from working.
After attacking, Krynn looks sharply to his allies. "Someone or something is attacking my mind in an unknown way; I cannot use any spells or remember how to fight at all. An incredibly honorless and despicable tactic. If you can withdraw us, I'd suggest withdrawing. I will try to cover you if necessary. If you can't flee with me, leave me behind."
Sorry, I don't see how this is supposed to be winnable. Krynn survives this turn, but is now essentially dead as he still cannot use any of his powers or defenses for at least two more turns. Meanwhile, the DK deals upwards of 500 damage per turn with seemingly unmissable levels of accuracy, as does the archer with his 350 damage per turn, and the unfindable caster has automatic 'stunlock' effects that bypass saving throws.
Even if you say these attacks are not repeatable, you could halve all their damage outut, ac and saves and with just the mental prison in play they'd still crush us easily. Our characters were created using certain benchmarks as maximum allowed stats; these enemies feel like they have double of all of our maximum buffed stats along with multiple instant win effects along with 'lol no you can't do anything and your allies can't help you'. I mean... then what is the point to this? Yes, we're guaranteed to lose such a setup vs infinite power enemies and yes it doesn't feel very fun to take part in what is essentially a one-sided slaughter vs enemies seemingly miles above our league. I can't even use any of the cool powers you normally never get to play with at all, and as such it simply feels like a waste of time.
