Well we were talking about circling back toward the lizard folk to get a look from land and to find an isolated lizard folk to talk to. I see Dunwater on the small map but not on the big one. I assume that a hill directly west of Saltmarsh puts us on the coast along the same horizontal line as the "300" near where there is a river and the swamp meets the clearer ground. Back toward the lizard folk if I remember correctly is South West up the map toward the river at the top which was where we found the lizard folk so we want to go back that direction.
Badger the Rover
Badger would recommend the trail till we were closer to the lizard folk. Then striking off trail to stay more out of sight.
I mean a trail. I thought we were gonna be wading through miles of muck.
Kwin Avassar
How about this?
Single file: Badger, Argyri, Drusilla, Kwin, Tarn, Blacklock.
Wide enough for two abreast: Badger/Argyri, Drusilla/Kwin, Tarn/Blacklock.
Do we want a rope between us? Maybe rather than tying together, tie it around Badger and then have everyone else keep a hand on it. If we have to move after dark, maybe have Blacklock carry a torch?

Well walking the trail part way might help cut down on the swamp issues.
Also Ranger Natural Explorer:
"In addition, you are skilled at navigating the wilderness. You gain the following benefits when traveling for an hour or more:
* Difficult terrain doesn’t slow your group’s travel.
* Your group can’t become lost except by magical means."

I'm using the stats in everyone's headers to gauge if healing is needed. Right now, it looks like everyone except me is only down a few hit points. If that's not right, let me know. I'm considering a healing potion for myself next round if no one else needs hps.
Argyri Katrakis
I don't use my header to track my current HP, only max...but Jubal tracks us all on the * Saltmarsh * doc. (I'm at a comfortable 20/24. Badger is the lowest listed, at 12/23)

The croaker. Blacklock is a strong lad. He can handle himself.
Blacklock
I noticed this yesterday but didn't want to slow things down, and I thought it wouldn't matter anyways. But now if Tarn is not by my side it might.
I was attacking both Bullywugs on me, not focused only on one. The reason for that is the Mobile feat, it requires I at least attempt to attack enemies for the OA denial when I leave melee. So I was proning one, then launching the other before my retreat.
Blacklock will never stay in melee during enemy turn if he can help it, otherwise I'm wasting monk abilities. The prone one will have to spend move to stand and won't have enough to reach me, while the pushed one will likewise not have enough movement from its new position to reach me. I on the other hand can spring attack again the next round.
No worries if you want to ignore it this fight, but that's the general modus operandi at the moment for my open hand monk.
DM Jubal
OK. I read that you attacked one twice, because you rolled a potential advantage on the second attack, right?
With your rolls, it would have been better to actually attack both of them once, which is what you need to do for your Mobile feat if facing more than one in melee, right?

Congrats!!
(And thanks for tracking everyone's HP in that doc. I just glanced and--yikes--most of the party is a hit away from dying.
Time for Argyri to buckle a few extra swashes, I guess!)
Tarn Copperlocks
Congrats

Hi team
It's my 26th wedding anniversary, so no real post today. Tomorrow
@Kwin Not that I don't want you to heal Tarn, but you know Blacklock is dying, right? Everyone's HP are in the doc linked to my profile.
cheers
Crap. Can I change the heal to Blacklock? Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking.
Tarn Copperlocks
…ok. Fiiiine. I suppose.
Badger the Rover
Sorry I guess I missed something reading between here and the gameplay. It sounded like there was no healing available for Blacklock. I also didn't think Tarn had heals. At this point only Kwin and Badger have healed anyone so if Tarn wants to heal that can be saved or used elsewhere.
Tarn Copperlocks
Happy thanksgiving!
We have coin now! And a really cool magic helm. That is great for anyone aquatic and for anyone who doesn't have darkvision.
I think that only Blacklock doesn't have darkvision? If so, then it would probably be the biggest help to him.
Blacklock
Having a swim speed negates the disadvantage on melee attacks underwater as well. Not sure how often that will come up, but Argyri and Tarn might be interested. Happy leaving it up to a DM roll off or something between all interested. Blacklock got the pipe earlier, and the psuedodragon...I'm kind of hogging all the cool stuff.

I don't mind Rping with the Lizardfolk.
I worry that you are calling our efforts snipe hunting that makes me think we are stalling more than a slow week of talking.
Our intent was not to go far in the swamp but to go very specifically back toward the lizard folk village: see if they are only in the cave, is there an actual village, does it have 5 huts or 30 are they big enough for small families of lizard folk or huge enough that we think 40 or 50 lizard folk sleep in each one.
Badger at least had proposed finding information about the lizard folk that would be useful if they are against us. Like are they 25 or 250. Now we might try to get close and find more lizard folk patrols preventing us from getting close but the goal of going into the swamp was to go to see more about the lizard folk.
Perhaps I am misunderstanding snipe hunt, to mean aimless wandering around the swamp.
The goal was can we get close enough to see the size and disposition of the village if we could and to talk to someone not the queen and see what we might learn.
This exchange here makes me think that in general they are looking to be our enemies. Which begs the question why they moved so close.
Blacklock
I was also under the impression finding some non-militaristic lizardfolk villagers was the goal. If this is actually impossible with the bounds of the module, I would prefer some kind of fast forward like 'you waste days looking but turn up nothing, mark off X rations and Y hit dice'. This was our plan to get the mission accomplished, but if there is a non-snipe better path forward we probably need a clue.
DM Jubal
I don't mind RPing the lizardfolk either, which is why I created the opportunity, but not everyone is participating.
I understand the plan which is why you have actually circled back toward the lizardfolk lair from the land side. You are exactly where you want to be. I put a star on the map where you are. Badger is the master in the marsh.
I'm describing it as a snipe hunt, because you're on the edge of the Module. You've completed the adventure and got a result, which may not feel particularly comfortable. You're deciding to do stuff that I'm rolling with. There's one last thing in the Module that you could do that could be triggered by RPing the Lizardfolk. But, it isn't necessary. Beyond that, I'm starting to roll random encounters
This game is for us. I want everyone to enjoy it, so I'm good with random encounters.
Hope that's clearer.
cheers

Thank you for the clarification on your meaning of snipe hunt.
I had wondered earlier between the gator and the bullywugs how far we had been traveling. At the time I figured if we moved differently that I intended or I understood I out of character was just gonna roll with it, thinking we were on track with something you had up your sleeve. When you mentioned snipe hunt I worried that I misunderstood something or that we had not done a good job communicating our intentions.

I'm abit swamped right now with...well, everything. Will pick things up in a day or two.
Argyri Katrakis
Jubal, thanks for checking in, and for working to keep things moving.
Between not speaking draconic and just being busy, I haven't been posting much, but I'm fine with where things are, and the pace.
For myself, I'm happy to get back when others are done with the conversation...but fine with continuing it, if someone has ideas to try before we wrap it up.
