The big pipe we were in used to show a dotted pipe or trail going from the SE corner to the NW corner- when you say we can go north do you mean that dotted path that leads from that circle in the SE corner of the map leads NW into the now-covered part of the map?
correct
Having just come from North-ish, Wraith leads the way into the unknown South-ish.
Wraith turns to head down the narrow tunnel that leads south. The strange plants oozing along the walls. She spots a dead rat with a piece of thick blonde hair in its teeth as she turns to head south. Her feet are unable as the tunnel moves as if alive. She steadies herself and stands.

Creighton "Stringer" Bernette |

As Wraith turns south and loses her balance, Stringer sends Snoop on ahead of her. Over the radio, he asks "You chill, Wraith?"
Send Snoop south until the tunnel bends or comes to an end. If there's a room or chamber or anything in sight from there, Snoop will go check it out. Otherwise, retreat to that tunnel branch to the west then go down that until it comes to a branch or a room.

![]() |

**Noooo. No nope nadda,** Wraith replies, wondering what she's stepping on. **We are not in a state of chillness. The vines cover the entire floor and are having themselves a disco party. I can't make any headway. I'm coming back to you,** she finishes, backing away and coming back to the group.
"Saw a rat with a patch of human hair. That's probably not, y'know, real good, but we already knew there were corpses down here, so not exactly new data.
Maybe we could make our way down that hallway with a flamethrower. Or some time working with axes, but otherways we might could wanna find another way."

Creighton "Stringer" Bernette |

Gross. Is the pus moving on its own or is the undulating pushing it down the passageway?
Stringer makes a face as he describes what Snoop is sending him. "Are we in... some kind of stomach?"
Oh, damn, North is map-left. OK. Send Snoop west to the turn 6 squares west of the blue dot and see what it sees. If it's just more tunnel, head north up that passageway until it hits another branch or room.

Julian Cannon |
Julian was distinctly uncomfortable as Snoop proceeded along the tunnel. Hearing Pearl comment reminded him that her response was not entirely out of character for someone. From what he has seen, that might not be enough. Still, he paid close attention to what was being described, as that was... not normal. If it was not flesh, then it was— at one point– plant matter, but the suggestion of something living is not entirely inaccurate... It is just the implication that it carried. Voluntarily walking into a stomach is not something that he would consciously do, and this was markedly becoming more and more wrong. If this was growing under the city, what in the world was the root cause?

its oozing down the plants.

sorry the tunnels SEPARATE, near what's marked 6 on the map. If you're in the narrow "Dark" tunnel which is near the blue dot it goes straight "south" not sure if you intended to stay in the narrow "dark" on the map. Sorry the map is confusing
if snoop heads SW in the "regular" tunnel then it sees the corridor narrow ahead
Snoop sees the corridor narrow ahead and the same strange plants.
towards 17 marked on the map

"Tunnel's getting tight. Snoop's moving." Stringer continues to describe to the group what he's seeing through the drone's camera.
Keep Snoop moving "west"/down on the map until it hits a room or a branch.

Snop hoovers and flies ahead to the "west" and then north.
into area 10 the tunnels are narrow here. You're in the narrow area. The "clear" parts aren't accessible at this point. Blue dot is where party is. I'm assuming Stringer is in front.
What it sees is "clear" air but misty. I'm assuming it has a flashlight on it It's light shines but then suddenly the beam shrinks. As if the "wall" is consuming the light. The wall is solid black and ungulates a bit.

![]() |

"Yes," chirps Allie, staring disgustedly at the disgusting wall on the feedback. "I'm starting to think that our sneaking around and kid-gloves approach isn't gonna get anything done. We're no closer to stopping the kidnapping and murders than when we got in here...excepting that now we know kidnapping and murders are going on.
Since the cops will definitely find a reason not to do anything about this, and since not-making noise isn't doing anything, we gotta start making some noise.
Let's go poke it with a stick and see what happens."

Creighton "Stringer" Bernette |

"Before we do... any of you have access to a flamethrower? I'm just getting a bad feeling that this," Stringer hefts his reliable shotgun, "might not do squat to whatever's down here."

LOL did you try and requisition one? :) Are you guys moving forward?

![]() |

Don't know if Wraith is in front now. Moved the party forward. to area marked 11 on map
The tunnel shifts and throbs under your feet. The solid black of the wall churns and sucks in your light. It's hard to see and your feet are unsteady.
As you move forward, the breath in your closed suit suddenly becomes visible. White mist - a half an inch from your nose. Goose dumps crawl along your skin. Isn't it summer outside? you think, as a slight chill runs down your back as in late winter.

Creighton "Stringer" Bernette |

I believe of the people, yes Wraith is in front. On the map, which way is this wall oriented? I put a red line on the map- is that where the wall is?
Stringer shakes his head as his breath starts steaming up his rebreather. The light from the flashlight clipped to his shoulder just disappears into the black wall. "This is... this isn't normal." He unslings his shotgun and stations Snoop up near the ceiling with orders to follow and give a warning if anything that isn't part of the group suddenly appears. Flicking on the illuminator slung under the barrel, that light gets sucked into the black wall as well.
"Pearl, stay behind me."
"Wraith? What you thinking of?"

![]() |

it's north south. Both sides. I moved the red line. The whole area with the squiggly black lines. Sorry if this wasn't clear before. I was assuming you came in the narrow area off the large sewer drain area where the bodies were hanging went south turned, left then and went north. You haven't looked at 8 and 9 to the "south" I did the "assumption" to get the map moving. I know it's hard since I'm not using a battle map for this.
I apologize for missing the main "flow" of the map. My elderly dad has been having some health issues. If I'm not clear or miss something let me know. Hope you're all enjoying the game so far.
The party notices that the concrete and brick of the sewers have vanished and the whole "alien stomach" predominates as they step unsteadily forward.

![]() |

I didn't know the map had numbers, but your reference to 8 and 9 made me zoom in, and that has much, much helped my understanding of the map. Until now I didn't know anything. Is 8 and 9 where you said I couldn't go because the ground was too bad? Now I see we are at 11, correct? If we can't go to 8, and we are at 11, I say we just press on North, then it bends West.
"What am I thinking? I'm thinking I don't know what the frag is going on. The whole frickin' sewer just turned into Cuthoomehburb's small intestine, and we've seen frag-all of the hurly-burly mermen we were supposed to hunt down. We got corpses and more questions than when we came down here.
I say we keep trekkin'. What I want to do is put a few high-caliber rounds into this thing to see how it handles indigestion, but then what? I doubt that'll kill it and turn everything back to kitten hugs and unicorn farts. It'll just let "them" know where we are.
So let's keep going and find their secret underground lair and kill them all.
Methinks that's been plan A the whole time and ain't seen not a thing to make it not so.
Yeah?"

you can go to 8 and 9. I think I mean the short "pipes" to the north. You guys "squeezed" in off the main area with the sewer drain near #6
Are you guys headed "south" towards 8 and 9?

Creighton "Stringer" Bernette |

Stringer shakes his head, not knowing what to do any more than Wraith did. "Wiz," he says sarcastically. "Snoop's moving. Somebody make sure that wall doesn't eat us while we're looking the other way."
OK, send Snoop toward 9 and then 8.

Creighton "Stringer" Bernette |

Stringer grimaces and shakes his head when he sees the pile of bodies. "Found the missing people. It's pretty bad." He goes on to describe the two separate piles. "Definitely something intelligent down here if it's sorting... edible and inedible... items like that."

![]() |

"Oooo!" Wraith states as the gory mess becomes visible. "Well, we better, y'know, verify with some mark 1 eyeballs."
She stalks ahead and starts rummaging the pile of valuables. 'It's not like they're gonna need it.'
Wraith looks through the items and sees they're random. Spoons, coins, old watches, dried lipstick tubes etc.
Goose bumps run down her back as it seems to get a bit colder...
Everyone's mind goes back to the surface. But it's summer!

Hammond "Mick" McCarren |

Any IDs? Possibly some monogrammed, engraved, or unique personal items? So we can identify the dead and help any families of the victims? Asks the not-materialistic protector-type, lol. This is why we have a complicated past =P

Creighton "Stringer" Bernette |

Not sure about monogrammed stuff or anything valuable, given the neighborhood we're in. Maybe some crappy guns? But there should be some IDs or credsticks or something, I would think.

![]() |

there's some monogrammed jewelry and a watch. After looking for a minute you find 2 Louisiana IDs, Fred Morgan and Lucy Anderson

Creighton "Stringer" Bernette |

Stringer shakes his head and looks around as Wraith goes through the pile. "I don't want none'a that. We should grab the IDs and the stuff with people's names on it but the rest... leave for the cops or god or whatever. Anybody else getting cold?"

Julian Cannon |
There was so much wrong with this and Julian was trying to understand just what caused all of this. A development like this just does not occur normally, but Lou said that much. Still, that did not excuse the bodies. That they were all collected spoke of intelligence, but they had yet to see anything and honestly, Julian felt like they were under-equipped for this. Wraith had the right idea. Burn all of this.
"We're probably close to water at this point." Julian was speaking softly because they had gone this far and not seen anything yet. Hopefully they were just lucky.

ok moving forward, moved the party on slide 2, NEW combat map on slide 5
Stringer continues to send Snoop forward. The drone flies down the eerie unearthly tunnel, shines it's light but doesn't see anything. Perhaps
lulled into a sense of security by Snoop, Stringer and the rest of the party step forward, looking for answers. Their breath chilled as their boots hit the gooey floor. As they round the corner the tunnel seems even more brisk as more goose bumps prickle their skin. Then out from nowhere a seven foot thick black and yellow snake appears in front of Stringer and tries to bite. But it's fangs can't sink into his vest and protective gear. It seems out of place in this oozing tunnel filed with dripping plants and dead bodies. Three of its fellow reptiles suddenly appear behind it!
Combat party is up!

"Whaaaa! Here we go!" Wraith cries in alarm, a torrent of emotions flooding through her. A swirling concoction of exhilaration, fear, and honest surprise mixing with the familiar tang of combat to create a potent chemical mixture in her blood stream.
"Alright, let's stack up these monsters like cordwood. Afterward we can cut 'em up and see how the mutants down here are making such horrible beasts!"
Realizing they first need to survive this encounter, she brings up the laser-beamed Eagle she had been carrying this whole time and relies on her honed instincts to pump a double-tap into the nearest one.
Desert Eagle shoot! Point Blank! Double Tap!: 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 1 - 2 = 25
Crit Confirmed!: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 2 = 23
Damage!: 2d8 + 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7, 4) + (2) + 1 = 14 x2 = 28!!
It is as if the large gun, held so dormant in her hand for so long, has grown restive and angry. At last at last! given a chance to perform the only action for which it exists, it hones in with an almost sentient hatred for the abominations that have the gall, the brazenness, the innocence or AROGANCE to attempt violence while in its presence.

Hammond "Mick" McCarren |

Mick winces when the gunshots ring out and reverberate in the tunnels. He brings his Krait up and snaps off a shot before standing in front of Pearl. "Take a breath!" he shouts back. "Then wait for the right moment to squeeze," he says popping off a round as one of the snakes lunges to punctuate his meaning.
Colt Krait: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage if hit: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2 Well...dang.

Creighton "Stringer" Bernette |

Stringer lets out a string of curses in cityspeak as he tries to refocus and bring up his Mossberg to shoot the fraggin' HUGE snake.
Mossberg: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Dmg, if any: 2d8 ⇒ (7, 1) = 8
So much for using his Planning ability. If he can 5' step to get away from the snake while avoiding an AoO he would also do that.

I moved you back on the slides
Allison decimates the first snake. As the sounds of combat echo through the eerie dark chamber. Stringer, Pearl and Mick struggle to fight in the narrow tunnel and miss.
The lead snakes goes after Stringer. But it's fangs can't sink into his armor. The others hang back a dim light surrounds each. You don't have to be a biologist to realize that these aren't "normal" snakes.

Wraith keeps up maximum fire, but Pearl's screaming echoes off the walls and reverberates in her ears, causing palpable cranial pain and throwing her aim off.
"Ay-yah, omae! Scream or fight but pick one!"

Hammond "Mick" McCarren |

Deciding not to add to the deafening reverb, and figuring these suckers are getting too close to safely use a firearm, Mick holsters his Krait and attempts to bring the heel of his boot down hard on the creature's skull.

The sounds of the gunfire echoing off of the walls was enough to almost take Julian out of the fight, with him wincing and covering his ears against the sounds in the tunnel. That was certainly an experience that he never wanted to happen again, but things were not likely to be over that easy. The pain from the headache that was forming was respectable. With the gunfire ahead he knew better than to run in the way trying to contribute— he'd seen Wraith enough after something like that...

I adjusted people on Slide 5 based on their actions. Mick is in "front" now
Anyone have Knowledge Life sciences?
Pearl demolishes on sending blood everywhere in the eerie corridor. Plants still ooze strange sap on the walls. Wraith and Stringer miss. Mick tries to crunch one under his boot but misses.
The coal black snakes near Mick slide back in the tunnel. One moves its head as if it's intelligent.
Party is up!
