My name is Rocky, and I was raised on the streets.
I grew up in the slums of Absalom stealing what I needed to survive, and I was pretty good at it too. I was making a good living stealing and running errands for all the underground types. Until one day I stole from the wrong person, I attempted to take the coin purse off who I thought was an ordinary person but they were far from it. Before I knew it I was surrounded by 3 bodyguards and they beat me until I was almost dead. Next thing I know I woke up days later in a house I have never seen before. I was later found by an older man, he found me in the alley, beaten and half dead, and he carried me to his house and tended to my wounds. After staying there for a few days the man made me an offer. I could stay with him, work in his shop, and learn an honest living or I could go back on the streets and probably die there one day. So I made a choice to live honest and make a living selling goods instead of stealing them.
I worked there for 3 months before one day when I was cleaning the counter, I saw the man I stole from that one day. They heard that I survived my beating and felt I needed another to really teach me a lesson, and proceeded to beat me again. Next thing I know I saw a flash of fire and all the bodyguards were on the ground bleeding. My new father, John Stonewall, was standing over them, his hand contorted like a bird’s talon. Once the town guards came John talked to them and cleared everything up. When I asked John about what happened he told me that he used to work for the Absalom guard. I begged John to please teach me how to fight so that I could protect people like he did. John agreed to train me after we closed shop only if I promised that I would only use my hands to protect people and never strike out to harm the innocent. Years later I mastered the lessons he taught me and at 18 I joined the guard.
After joining the guard I got placed in a barracks in a rough part of Absalom. I thought this was the normal new guy post but I was wrong. I was in a barracks full of the life I tried to get away from. The whole barracks was corrupt and full of thieves, bullies, and even worse. They heard of my background and had me pulled to this station thinking I was like them. I had to get out of there, I worked hard, kept my nose clean, and got a transfer out of there as soon as I could. When the Edgewatch opened up I knew this was my chance. So here I am, the first day in a new unit is the hardest.
My name is Roscoe Talbot and my owl is Athene. I was raised in a noble household up until recently.
When I was growing up I followed in my family's footsteps in politics. Studying law, getting to know other nobles, and rubbing elbows with the upper echelon of Absalom. My parents wanted me to become a lawyer or politician so I could live the easy life like they do. To be honest it was kind of nice but I just couldn't get the feeling out of my head that I wanted to do more. Wanted to make a difference instead of living the cushy life that my parents wanted.
When I told them that I wanted to join the guard to do the hard work for myself and earn my place, they were angry. They could not understand why I would want to low-ranking guard jobs. I want to do it to prove that I am not just a name. That I can prove how useful Roscoe Talbot is without leaning on the ranking of my family.
So they pulled the financial aid from me to try to prove a point. Little so they know it doesn't bother me, Athene and I will work hard and prove a point to my family. Show them that there is a new generation of the Talbot family and we are not just going to be like the Talbot family of the past.
My name is Ialtag and I grew up on the streets of Absolom and fell in with bad influences. I spent several years running with a group of criminals before they crossed his moral line and he ended up working with the Harbor guard to bring his former associates to justice.
For the last few years, I have worked with the harbour guard, though more often than not I get distracted by making extra money as a bounty hunter on the side and have at times had a tenuous relationship with my own unit. Edgewatch seemed a good chance to have a clean start and move forward with his life.
