Its tempting but I wouldn't want to be going into direct competition with Ameiko, I like her too much for that.
@GM Michael: Is Ameiko's place a bar/inn only or do they produce as well? If she doesn't I'll change to the microbrewery backstory so I can be a new supplier and friendly with her.

Man, that stretch from Bodega Bay to Jenner is one of the most beautiful drives in the entire country. And Spud Point Crab Company is phenomenal. I'm tempted to submit just so my PC could hang out there :)
Thinking of either a wood kineticist (legal) pot farmer or a pyrokineticist fire fighter on leave after miraculously surviving a fire inland (and picking up their abilities on the way).

You could always be a former employee who has branched out on her own with Ameiko's blessing. Can't speak for how things are in northern California, but here in San Diego the craft brewing industry is very supportive and collaborative.

Alright then! Chloe is busy getting A-FrAme Brewing Co. off the ground!
So instead of grad school she stopped at a BA in chemistry and apprenticed at Fieldworks Brewing in Berkley for about 4 years before coming back. That makes her around 27 or 28 years old.
Current Offerings:
Dawn Patrol Red Ale
Pig Dog Porter
Longboard IPA
Pintail Pilsner
Shaka Hazy IPA

Enzio |

Beer and Golf go hand in hand. Declan will take Pintail Pilsner or when he is trying to regain his Luck, the Pig Dog Porter.
Love all the businesses could gain clientele with a little marketing by way of corporate sponsorship.
Kicking around working with Antonia 'Toni' Smith, working with her and her mechanical engineering skills to develop a great golf club schematic. Thinking a driver.

Enzio |

"I take it that I should be impressed by you being the High Priest to Grick of North America, Reborn in this Century to Reverse the Destruction of the Ecosystem and Political Corruption in Washington DC, prepared to take out a Battalion of Troops from The United States Armed Forces from Fort Bragg that would stand in Your way?" Declan sighs, taking off his Nike cap. Attempting to run a hand through his hair, realizing he hasn't taken off the golf glove. Frowns slightly as he bites a tip of a glove finger to pull it off, then to drop the glove in his cap. Slightly smiles as he is now able to run a hand through his hair.
"Well, it doesn't. You caught me having a Pintail Pilsner in celebration. You see I just shot a 63 on a par 72.4 course, ensuring that I am able to retain membership in the North California Golf Association. This puts me into a Round Robin Opportunity during the next PGA Tournament that has an odd number of players..." Declan pauses, not bothering to focus anymore on the Strange Fellow that Probably Resorts To Violence. "I hope they don't play at Poppy Hills. I don't have anyplace to stay if it is out of town." Takes a little sip of the Pilsner, shaking his head at the bartender that is gesturing if he needs assistance.
Turning his attention back to the Strange Fellow that Probably Resorts To Violence. "When you said 'Of North America, do you include Pebble Beach, California as Yours too? Like have a Cathedral, Shrine, or back room of a Bar that I sleep at? Even a couch in a Worshipper's apartment? If so, you suddenly have my attention."

ok...kind of have a more refined concept in mind...but here's the thing...want to make an ex-soldier...and thinking either ranger, gunslinger or slayer. for the slayer/ranger builds...would you allow the archery style feats for the guns? if so, definitely leading towards ranger...can even make him a former ranger...

Ha! It's also like Chloe should be paying Declan some sort of social media or guerrilla marketing rate-per-mention. Except he neglects to mention A-FrAme Brewing specifically and Chloe doesn't have the spare cash.
That's the missing piece actually. Plenty of good ideas, but where are the financial backers?

Sariel Patrick Cornelius |

This is RH's Cleric Sariel:
Note: I absolutely do not want full characters done before i choose. Why? Because of the needed customization for the game. Vehicles, full creation will be done after choosing.
Keeping this in mind, I've only posted the fluff. I have altered the original backstory, fitting the new class and race profile.
GMMichael, due to your statement above, knowing we would hammer out details after selection. I've tried to resist the urge to ask a lot of questions about specifics. One thing that does come to mind, Have you given much thought to the different possible religions? Things like alignment, domains or deities favored weapon. Or will you handle those as part of the character build?

GMMichael |

Absolutely. All traits, feats and abilities will be reskinned

So after toying around with them for a while, it looks like Brewkeeper doesn't mesh super well with alchemist unless the idea is to be buffing 90 percent of the time. It's not a bad idea, but losing all the alchemist class features really hurts. Brewkeeper works better with a full casting class that won't get cut off at the knees when only getting spell progression.
Looks like Chloe will be sticking with Fermentor Alchemist all the way.

I think this could be a truly fresh take on a classic AP! Great proposal!
So I had a brief idea for a winemaker out of Napa. Could've been a quirky spin. But honestly, given the huge amount of gorgeous national parks in California, I think I am going to write up a concept for a park ranger (ranger). Will flesh it out shortly.

GMMichael |

RH-we will hammer those out in character build
But be Aware I've put some thought into it.
Trying to make this not get into a religious discussion so essentially there will be one dirty for good. And one for evil.we can call the good dirty Allah,Jehovah, God Buddha etc. The other Shaitan etc.
There will be a pagan Goddess The EarthMother.
I'm going to work the domains into 5 categories.
Evil, good, neutral and open to good/neutral and open to evil/neutral

That's cool, I really like how Jim Butcher handles such things in the Harry Dresden Chronicles. It feels like Harry doesn't deny power etc., but he doesn't offer much explanation either.
In Sariel's original game he was a gunslinger who was raised, trained and worked with a priest. Figured it couldn't hurt if he Was a priest to handle the 'cleric' responsibilities. Though it's more so he can deal with the big bad than try and convert folks.
Seriously considering the Roaming exorcist archetype, but that's a conversation for after the selections.

I am looking towards Declan Ashton being a Charismatic Druid... The nature allure is too compelling.

Name: Riktor Van Mander
Race: Half-Elf
Class: Gun Chemist Bramble Brewer Alchemist
Profession: Weed Dealer and general layabout.
Alchemy: Riktor is, among other things, and accomplished chemist. His alchemy will be a combination of mad science, magical inheritance and grasp of science. This makes the strange ammo he crafts for his antique pistol work, as well.
Bodega Bay: A life long resident of the area, Riktor is mostly there to have fun and maybe learn. He sometimes takes classes to learn more - often at night, and mostly for fun.

Name: John Clark, Sergeant, US Army(Retired)
Race: Half-Elf
Class: Ranger(possibly Gunslinger..still undecided....)
Profession: survival school instructor
Alchemy: John spends his weekends teaching basic survival techniques to urbanites seeking an escape or learn how to get by in the event of the (not) impending zombie apocalypse. He gets by with his pay along with that from his military pension. He was in the 75th Ranger regiment and rose quickly through the ranks. He lead his team during a couple deployments to Afghanistan, where he acquitted himself admirably, garnering a few decorations. After suffering a badly damaged knee and a partially detached retina from a failed parachute deployment during cross training with the SEALs at Coronado, he decided to stay in California and bought a little cabin north of the city.
Bodega Bay: after retiring from the military, John settled on Bodega Bay after spending a weekend furlough there during his last posting. having lived on the East Coast for most of his life, he loved the smell of the sea and the chance to star over.

1. Cayden Winters
2. Human psychic (symbiosis discipline)
3. Forestry technician for the Forest Service in Humboldt county
4. Cayden was born and raised in the Bay Area, just across the bridge from San Francisco. Life there was pleasant enough, and the big city was just close enough to provide some excitement when things got boring. He was a bright kid, got through school okay, though never quite finding the subject matter interesting enough to engage him. That boredom, though, set him ill at ease with life, and he fell in with a rough crowd, one that sapped his passions for just about anything other than being under the influence of one chemical or another. That was all until he found the wilderness. He’d gone camping a few times over the years, but it never really clicked with him. On a whim, he signed up for a trail crew, and found himself falling in love with the wild. He started to…hear things. Whispers in the wind, the sound of distant, gentle voices in the waving trees. They were faint, but they promised a release from his boredom, his discontent with life. He decided then, he had to listen. He gave all his effort to it, pushing through college and ending up with the Forest Service as a backcountry data collector. He rambled the rugged terrain of the west, all the while hearing more and more of the voice of the wild. It was not speech, per se, but a call, a set of instructions. For what, Cayden didn’t know. It was at the top of Mount Olympus in Washington that Cayden finally understood. The deep, wild voice spoke to him, told him the truth. All things were connected by a great web of energy., and the human mind could tap into that connection with enough reflection and concentration. The world could be manipulated if the web was understood. In short, it was magic. He ended up in Humboldt county, the deep forests of California calling to him.
5. Bodega Bay isn’t too far from Cayden’s home in Humboldt county. The Fishing Festival is a good way to spend some time between assignments in the woods, and so Cayden drove down there for the weekend.

Yeah thinking about the mechanics too much. Have you thought about armor?
Will modern body armor like 'bullet proof' vests aid armor class, or provide damage resistance against firearms?
Depending on the 'deity preferred' weapon may add a couple hobbies to Sariels backstory...
Firearms won't go for touch with body armor. It'll be normal ac
I've been researching body armor and have agrasp on how to represent it

Oh, no, Chloe certainly does have a job. There's no way she can just hang around brewing beer in quantity without it getting sold.
She has either rented or bought a building, an old warehouse or cannery building by the water makes the most sense, and partitioned it so portions serve as her brewery, bar, and residence respectively. The bar probably isn't much to look at yet, but she can start with a more limited size (a tap room I guess you'd call it) and make it nice enough. As her business grows, she can renovate a larger area and expand its size.
She can also do wholesale to other places, restaurants, bars, etc. who want to have a tap or (hopefully) two of her beer available. She'd even have a couple of part-time at the least employees.
I even have the address of a building I have in mind: 935 Shoreline/Bay Hwy.
As an aside, I did some research on the area and found I made a bad assumption. I lived in Astoria, OR for a while and commercial fishing was prevailingly Scandinavian up in that area. However down in the region around the Bay Area, Portuguese and Italian immigrants tended to be most common in fishing. So she's about as average as possible Chloe's surname is now Santini rather than Jensen.
Edit: Oops, 935 looked like a building from the air, but it's actually a flat slab. Looks like a teardown and redevelopment project. Probably was a cannery or some such thing back in the day. I guess Chloe's place will need to be more in the Pelican Plaza area of town instead.

What you need, if you're doing that yourself, is a recently graduated Mechanical Engineer with time on her hands to help design and do the work

Andy Brown |
and now body armor is done in campaign tab
As a thinking point, would protective motorbike gear come in about the same as lesser light armor?
Given Toni's choice of bike she'd want to be wearing a jacket with shoulder, elbow and back protection, and probably pants with knee protection.
Probably not much use against a bullet, but helpful against a knife or blunt instrument

Andy Brown |
spent some time this morning bouncing through Wikipedia, reminding myself what was popular with kids through the 2000s and 2010s. I now have a better idea of what Toni would have been watching & playing with growing up
Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.
Born July 3rd 1999
Mother: Maria - science teacher, left 2015; no fault divorce.
Father: Henry - fisherman until 2018 when a cable break almost killed him, leaving him in a wheelchair. Spent more time on the fishing boats than at home.
Grew up around Bodega Bay, and spent most of her time watching cartoons and playing with Neopets until she was old enough to pay attention to what her mother was watching, when she got hooked on Mythbusters.
Discovered Dr Who & online fanfic, and began writing fic for Dr Who, Star Trek and various DC superhero shows.
Toni has always liked building things, and once she saw Spaceship One she decided she wanted to build things in space.
Attended USC San Diego to study Mechanical Engineering, but was going to quit when her father was almost killed; he insisted she graduated.
Toni has now returned to Bodega Bay to look after her father while she works out how to get a Master's in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering and land her dream job at SpaceX.

In fact added it.
A long tome ago I decided if someone wanted a gun that would fire a stake at close range it would have to be a single or double barreled shot gun. Don't know that we would ever create such a thing, but when I saw the new "hellboy" and he had a double barrel shotgun instead of a revolver it made me smile.
I'm trying to figure out what weapons or armor Sariel would actually have with him or available to him while he is on hiatus, He would have some weapons (knife, brass knuckles and aspergillum, he is a priest after all) because he's paranoid and would have a motorcycle jacket and possibly a light ballistic vest. But would he ride cross-country with a conceal-carry?
So I started thinking what kind of weapons would "aunt May" have at the house, either something she kept or Raphael left in case of emergency. An older style shot gun, (double barrel or pump) or a revolver makes sense more than at Sig Sauer...
GMMicheal, would you also ponder how to handle something like 'out of state' license like a conceal-carry, and how difficult using a 'fake' Id would be?

Robert Henry |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

interesting thought about the carry laws. I know states have different laws regarding concealed carry...bit i think if you had your stuff stored on your bike or in your car(think locked case) you would be fine...unless you're rocking a tricked out M4 SOPMOD or the like...
yeah, I've got Sariel from Chicago and I have no idea what their 'carry' laws are, and I know California is a lot different. That's why I thought 'shotgun' but even then how would it look for someone riding his motorcycle with a shotgun...
