Monday, 12:00

Ysoldt asks about the curfew and the female guard nods. "Yes, you have about 8 hours each day to make your deals. There's a pretty loud bell-"

*DING*

"That sounds across the city. That's you cue to either move around town or be indoors. Good luck to you." She waves goodbye to Ysoldt and screams "NEXT!" towards the next group. A pig farmer brings all of his pigs up to the checkpoint, and their squeals are deafening. The male guard ushers the female guard, mouthing "ladies first!" as she goes to inspect the cargo.

Monday, 14:00

A sturdily built stone building with a meticulously thatched roof is marked by a hand-carved wooden sign with silver inlays that declare the building to be The Rockfish Inn.

Guaril’s list indicates the owner of the tavern is a dwarf by the name of Yuleg Bluinglot and his daughter Vurna. A pair of mules and a wagon lie in the stables, and the front door is barred with a sign that reads:

Inn is Closed due to illness

Still, you bang on the front door. You hear Yuleg as he opens the door slot. ”I’m sorry. The inn is closed while I help my daughter recover from an illness. I’d rather not risk the spread. And… well, she’s my only daughter. I hope you understand.”

"Oh my! A cleric of Torag? Right this way, come on in." He leaves the door wide open. The inn is full of carpets as dark as pine, though covered in a thin layer of dust. The main hall features a portrait of a fish tugging on some seaweed, oblivious to the heavy rock weighing its meal down.

”Did Guaril send you?” Yuleg realizes he let the name slip. ”I pray that you are. Not that it matters much. My daughter Vurna is too sick to move. A rat bit her a few days ago and she’s high with a terrible fever. I can’t risk moving her unless she is better.”

The dwarven woman breathes slowly while lying on a bed in one of the inn rooms. ”Dad, I can still hear you...” she coughs. ”We gotta… we gotta find ‘em. Flitch and the Cove. I know where they are. We gotta get out of here.”

Yuleg simply shakes his head and spoons out another bowl of broth. ”Now now my dear. You’re in no condition to move. Drink up.” He feeds Vurna another spoon of broth and she groans as she swallows it down. ”Can you help her?”

”Oh, thank you. Thank you all.” Yuleg smiles, he clearly hasn’t done so in a while. ”Now listen, you can take whatever you want. The rooms at the inn are well furnished, take any room you want. Oh, and the wagon. It can hold about 1,000 pounds of cargo, take that too. I have 6 barrels of pickled fish. Very yummy.” A small burst of joy leaps from him as he points out the rooms, the wagon, the mules and the fish.

"I've been winding down the inn for the last month or so." He turns to Griffon. "When I was young, I didn't mind Xin-Edasseril much. But when my daughter was born, I... realized so, so much. She deserves a better life than I. There's only so much you can do here before the Emerald Guard decides you stepped out of line or you said something suspicious, or..." He shakes his head. "I need to leave this town, but Vurna's coming with me. Either she gets better and we both leave free, or we both stay chained together under the runelord."

You take a moment to make a quick diagnosis. Jacknife and Makai are certain she is suffering from some kind of disease, but they're not sure what it is. Quickblade is clearly distraught over the situation and isn't sure what to do.
Diagnosing Vurna's sickness can be done quickly. But actually curing the disease will take 8 hours. If you remained here after curfew, you could make this check before or after going to sleep.

Vurna groans as Yuleg continues. ”My apologies, I have to help Vurna. She may need to use the... facilities.” Yuleg nods to you then hustles to help his daughter stand up and get to the bathroom.

Looks like you have a home base.

As you look around the inn, you see an empty barrel. If you could craft, you may be able to make a raft out of it. Or maybe you’ll destroy the thing. But it will take all day to complete…

Trained in the Crafting skill? Spend 8 hours to make a check and turn that barrel into a raft. This may be useful later...

A word with you kind sir. We want to do everything we can to get you out of this oppressive place. However paying in commodities wont be pleasing to certain parties higher up in this operation. Have you any alternatives at your disposal?

You must understand that bribes must be paid to get you to freedom, and barrels of fish do not have enough pull with people looking to profit from your predicament. Again this is not about us trying to steal from you, but we need the help of others to have a good outcome here.

Mr. Yuleg, do you have anything that would appease profit-driven individuals?

We are not going to leave you behind, but we are trying to reduce the risk to you and your daughter by appeasing those who would help make your goal a reality.

"Not that I don't trust you. But if I can't leave with Yurna, I'm going to spend every copper I have hiring the best healers I can. So I can't pay you until I leave." Sorry, long day

Magic, Money and Harmony prevail. The temple doors have a green checkmark, indicating they are "Approved by the runelord." Sometimes he notices a flower of Milani, but no temples or priests nearby. Maybe they're hiding.

As Jac passes by Ysoldt, he peers down at her tools, then winks and under his breath says "Nice and rusty those!" before having a quiet chuckle.

He stands under the window, slightly back from the smashed flowerpot and looks up, watching intently. Strange place for a broken pot, if it were me, I'd use the window as an escape ..... ah those times in Katheer, dipping my hands into a merchants pocket. Jac seems to smile for no apparent reason, as he waits and looks up.

If someone comes out of the window:

Jac shouts up, "Don't run, you know we have something that might interest you." he flicks a gold coin up in the air, it sparkles as it flips end over end in the sunlight. "Let's at least talk before you disappear."

Quickblade follows Makai, keeping an eye out for traps as they cross the threshold. Passing Jacknife and Ysoldt, he mischievously whistles the sound of a call of a sparrow... ;)

Quickblade also looks around the area for anything out of the ordinary.

Edit: Maybe the secret check will turn out to be better!

If it's a secret check, my mod is +6 (E)

A thin layer of dust covers the floors of this sparsely furnished wood-walled apartment. The northern wall bears crude etchings, graffiti, and other odd markings. Flitch isn’t here, but Guaril said this was his home.

Perception:

Quickblade: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Avonathalanthalasa: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Jacknife: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Griffon: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Ysoldt: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Makai: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Jacknife notices it first, and then Avonathalanthalasa picks up on it. They point to some of the graffiti. One of the scratchings has Flitch’s name in it! This must be some kind of hidden message.

Skill checks:
If you are trained in Society, you can spend 10 minutes trying to Decipher the Writing on the wall to decode the secret message.
Alternatively, you can spend 2 hours and make a Diplomacy check to track down Flitch’s whereabouts given this new information.

The Irisseni raises an eyebrow, and looks at Avonathalanthalasa. "My senses decieve me. Avonathallllllllll..., Avonalat... No, that's not it.", she stutters for a moment. She breathes in, determined. "A-vo-na-tha-lan-thal-as-a...". Seemingly satisfied, she continues. "I swear your owl just imitated a sparrow. Did I pronounce that correctly by the way? Do you go by a monicker, by chance?"

She asks as she peers indoors, looking for anything odd. Well, except the barred windows, and similar signs of nobody being present.

If applies, I'd like a perception check, please. +1 to traps via trapfinder class feat.

Trapfinder:

Class Feat - Trapfinder

You have an intuitive sense that alerts you to the dangers and presence of traps. You gain a +1 circumstance bonus to Perception checks to find traps, to AC against attacks made by traps, and to saves against traps. Even if you aren’t Searching, you get a check to find traps that normally require you to be Searching. You still need to meet any other requirements to find the trap.

Ysoldt doesn't notice anything extraordinary, and certainly doesn't see any traps. Just more graffiti:

Prunelord sucks - A rather crude drawing of the runelord, except her skin is withered and purple
City is MY GEM! - A vaguely drawn humanoid holding a glowing green-tinted city in the palm of their hands
Envy Row Hounds - Pack of dogs with viridian spiked collars, barely held back by an over confident owner
My home plane needs me - A human male on a boat, sailing away towards the horizon

Focusing on My home plane needs me you see Flitch’s name as a signature. The waves of water are in a peculiar pattern… this must be some kind of hidden message.

Jac looks at the wavy pattern and immediately he finds him self back on the ship again, his stomach churning, he looks away. "Excuse me, dunno why but I feel a bit queasy." he takes a step towards the door and takes a few deep breaths.

Quickblade looks on, ready to be helpful if he can. He also makes sure that nobody nosy is about wondering why all these newcomers are looking around.

Not trained in any of the skills needed. Also my dice rolls are so bad being trained probably doesn't help either!

This place was swept clean. Nothing of value besides a wedge of not-yet-moldy cheese.

Avonathalanthalasa inspects the painting carefully... but nothing comes to mind. Whatever the message is, it is too well decoded for her.

Looks like you'll have to spend 2 hours and make a Diplomacy check to Gather Information about Flitch's whereabouts. DC is 20, so feel free to make those rolls.
