After explosions of ancestral arguing go off in Shamus' head...
”I told you! A mighty warrior indeed!”
”Eh. She got lucky."
---------------------------
Shamus moves forward along the center of the trail. He waves a hand and chants a blessing to the deities of nature. The grass and weeds poking out between the flagstones suddenly become a twisting carpet of entangling vines.
DC 15 vs. entanglement.

GM Aarvid |

Shamus helps Elena escape the grasp of the frog's tongue.
Akkina ignores the frog watching her and creeps to the northwest.
Baldrum lands one shuriken on the frog, piercing its rubbery skin.
@Shamus, although the map does not have any vegetation in he center, the scenario says there are some plants hanging from parts of the collapsed roof (but not sure where that is), I am going to say all are in range of some form of plant...especially since we are running long anyway
Shamus causes all of the plants on the ground and hanging from the ruins walls and ceiling to reach out to any creature in the affected area.

Upon the spell grabbing at the elves, the 5 spirit warriors wink out of existence.

Gonna play that way? I'll show you a real force weapon, Sonny!
"Hit 'em with this, Shamus! My favorite weapon favored by dwarven warriors of The Five Kings Mountains."
Shamus points at the elf that shot him with a magic missile and intones a blessing from an ancestral spirit. A glowing warhammer of pure magical force appears beside the elf and bonks him on the head.

Shamus uses his divine connections to summon a hammer of force which bonks the ghostly creature which injured him.
Elena's sword is not able to land on the oversized amphibian.

Akkina breaks her stealth as she circles back to hack the frog down and it drops then dissipates in a puff of smoke.

If they are anything like the Razmiri guys I don't think we have enough time to convince them to cooperate but we could stabilize them and let them here tied up while we check the ruins. I think getting them to the authorities will help clean the Society's name.
Elena will let Shamus do first aid. If they make it, she will tie them.

The hammer then winks out of existence.
Shamus shakes his fist as he shouts at the fleeing coward.
And stay off my lawn, whippersnapper!!!
He then snaps his fingers to dismiss the entangling spell. The plants and weeds in the area revert back to their normal form.
Stuffing his wand into his belt, he moves towards the unconscious thug that got whacked by the magical hammer. Kneeling at his side, he checks the man's vital signs and stops his bleeding (cast stabilize.).
They aren't ghosts at all, are they?
I suppose we should tie this one up, then wake him up, and have him tell us what's going on.

GM Aarvid |

They definitely look more like actual elves with garb intended to look ghostly.
You are able to stabilize and restrain all three if desired.
They would need assistance in order to be in any condition to talk or travel.
The two elven casters have spellbooks, a couple scrolls and potions and alchemy fire and disguise kits but no obvious signs of Razmir or Aspis on them.

![]() |

Elena will tie them up. [b]"Alright... We will deal with them when we finish here."[b]

![]() |

Let's prop them up together in sitting positions so that they have their backs against each other.
Shamus says to his companions as he pulls out a rope from his pack and helps drag the unconscious thugs into the center of the ruins.
Just wrap this rope several times around them and tie a good knot so they can't break free.
Shamus gently brushes Elena's arm aside when she starts to attempt to bind their wounds.
Don't bother, Elena. I have this.
He pulls out his wand of cure light wounds and gives each thug a tap.

Shamus stands and steps a couple paces back.
Now lets stand in a circle around them and start asking questions.
He glares at the bound thugs as they begin to open their eyes.
Khorshid. You seem to be good at interrogation. Have at it, lad.
Shamus seems to be annoyed, and quite tired, with how many days this investigation has dragged on and the constant red herrings.

GM Aarvid |

All three of the defenders of the ruins revive with the wand taps.
The male elf immediate explodes in a tirade of curses, especially at Shamus and Khorshid.
You!!! You are a bunch of worthless Molthuni traitors! As far as I care, you can rot out here!
The woman shakes her head at her companion and asks more calmly.
Just...who are you and why are you here? she waits for an answer.
The militia man only responds. Hey, I am just a member of the
Tamran militia, man. We were using the fort as a listening post to
scout bandit activity and chasing away smugglers with ghost scare tactics. Honest.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

"Look, that seems very strange, because we did talk with a Tamran militia man and he and his patrol were chasing bandits in this direction here."

@GM Aarvid:
I'm not sure if Aid on Sense Motive is usually allowed.
But maybe in this case checking the body language from a different angle for a tell (as we stand in a circle around them) may be of help?
I did not open the spoiler yet - waiting for your call.

![]() |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
"Well, you have an abundance of eye blinking and perspiration as he makes his statement."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
"I think it is essential that you share all you know with us! If we learn that you lied then this will have consequences! And that is so unnecessary and I want us to coooperate with each other!"

GM Aarvid |

With Khorshid persuasive argument (and veiled threat) the militia man cries out.
Look, man...I mean gnome! We was just following orders. It's all their fault! he points to the two elves.
The male elf turns his glare to the human. See, Dathnien! I told you we could not trust them! he spits.
Well, you cannot keep your mouth shut either it seems. she fires back at her elf friend.
We are members of the multinational trade organization known as the Aspis Consortium. Before you bumpkins happened along, we were investigating these ruins as a potential trading post or base.
Totally legal business, as there are no rightful owners of this property. she sneers.

![]() |

Elena sighs tiredly. "Aspis... great."
"Where is the entrance? How many are there? Is your boss here too? What can you tell us about them?"

![]() |

Aspis agents? Interesting. Well, if your business was totally legal here, why did you attack us? We actually have no problems with you staking out some new territory for a base of operations. All we wanted to do was talk to you, and now look at the trouble it got you in.
Shamus gets down on one knee and leans in closer to the three bound Aspis agents.
Where are those stolen shipments?

![]() |

Akkina puts a hand on her sawtooth sabre hilt as Shamus kneels close to them. "Say the word old man, and I'll send them to the Boneyward for judgement."

GM Aarvid |

The male pipes back up We did not attack you. We told you to go away! But did you listen? NO! And then you proceeded into our base! he sits back down in a huff.
The woman with a defeated expression, looks at Elena and points to a spot in the floor to the north.
There...
A charred wooden door lies on the ground in front of an archway
leading west. To the north, a stone trap door peeks out from
behind a pile of rubble.

![]() |

"People in this town are suffering because of the stolen supplies. They need *this* to be stopped," she explains. "Ghost or no ghosts, you were the first to attack even after we tried to parley with you. We won't kill you."
"What can you tell us about who else is down there?"
Elena will make sure they are tied well to a column or a tree before going down the trap door.

![]() |

Just in case, another SM roll (for Elena's question):
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

GM Aarvid |

They shrug.
We are not allowed down there, but even then we would not tell you.
They seem to be telling the truth as far as Baldrum can tell.
Anything else with these 3 or head down or back to town etc?

![]() |

Khorshid looks at them.
“Team, please bind and gag them so we can alert the authorities later! And we should go then!“
He casts detect magic and investigates their gear but is ready to proceed then.

![]() |

Elena makes double sure they are tied up well, then proceeds with Aatish.

![]() |

There was that one archer that ran off. He might return to free his friends here.
Shamus lets out a deep sigh.
I'd hate to do it, but, we could march back to town with these Aspis agents, turn them over to the authorities, then trek back here.
We could get a good night of rest before returning in the morning.

![]() |

"My vote is to check this place out NOW before more Aspis Agents return! let's go Pathfinders! time is of the essence and our boss over there won't appreciate if we chicken out of this AFTER defeating the guards!" says Akkina, pointing in the direction of Karela.

![]() |

You're right, Akkina.
ONWARD!

![]() |

Baldrum nods in agreement.

![]() |

Elena agrees with Akkina. "We could gag them and bring them in... and close the trap door from the inside so that archer can't come back for them." she suggests.
