Never can't shoot and has no relevant skills to starship combat. But whatever you guys want to do is fine. It's too bad there's no Space Marine option.

Z-4 "Zephyr" |

If others want to move ahead, I am happy having Zephyr for his heroic flying work off-camera, then come skidding in at just the right moment to help with the next mission.

Z-4 "Zephyr" |

Looks like we posted at the same time. I did pos for Zephyr double moving I to engineering.

Z-4 "Zephyr" |

A bit confused—is red down or not, and who is in the range of its attack?

therealthom |

So ends the A section of the Scoured Stars arc. Good time to talk about the future. Section B is largely about recovering from the Scoured Stars and payback for the jinsuls.
1. Are we continuing? I'm happy to, if you're still having a good time.
2. In what fashion are we moving on? New characters ?
3. Can we recruit a fourth or fifth?
The upcoming scenarios are:
1-29 Honorbound Emissaries (7-10)
1-31 Treading History's Folly (3-6)
1-34 Heart of the Foe (3-6)
1-39 The Herald's War (7-10)
2-00 Special 2.
There's that awkward dip in level in the middle. What to do about it?
Let me know your thoughts.

Honestly, my interest in Starfinder has been fading for some time. I'll bow out at this point, and apologies if that puts the rest of you in a bind. I enjoyed playing Never but the character has gotten stale and I don't love the system the way I used to.
Thank you so much for the game, GM. You persevered when lesser GMs would have disappeared. All the best to you.

therealthom |

Therenger, sorry to see you go. Thanks for sticking around. Not everyone can deal with my erratic posting schedule.
It has been really good playing with you. Never has been awesome. I have loved some of the things you've done with her. She was so cool in the first scenario -- charming Zo! I thought for sure I was going to kill her when she climbed the tree to disarm the flying dragonkin ; but you hit the rolls to do it. And most recently, her pep-talk to the newer recruits.
I hope to see you around the Paizo boards. You are welcome here or at any of my tables, if you decide to dabble in Starfinder again.

Z-4 "Zephyr" |

I have really enjoyed this game, and I am happy to continue. Zephyr has been fun to play, and the scenarios have been well done.
If I may be so bold as to suggest a solution for the level dip for 1-31 and 1-34, have us make secondary characters as protégées for those scenarios, and we continue on with our primary characters for the higher tier play. Then for the special, we can have effectively 2 tables—one for the main characters and one for the protégées as the grand finale for the campaign!

Harlan Riggs |

Thanks for the gaming Never! See you in another game some time.
I'd be open to continuing, especially since I think the only one of those I've already played is 1-34. It's a lot of scenarios that slipped past me the first time season 1 was running, and I'm excited to play with some of the higher level spellcaster tricks and spells (my highest level starfinder spellcaster before this was 6th level)! That said, going down to two continuing players is definitely a natural stopping point if you've had your fill Thom or aren't into doing another recruitment to fill the gaps.
For the two middle scenarios, secondary cameo characters or proteges sounds good to me. It's certainly an opportunity to experiment with some kooky character build. As for the secondaries, they don't *need* to come back later IMO, but it would be fun if they cameo in the special.

Z-4 "Zephyr" |

The GM and players in my other Starfinder campaign that is wrapping up soon have been quite good, though we have similarly fallen to three active players. Feel free to reach out…

Harlan Riggs |

Hey! That game looks weirdly familiar... :P
I'll ping my sources, but I suspect with SF2E on the horizon and people playing other systems, it might not get too many bites.

Harlan Riggs |

Unfortunately no interest from any of my other contacts.

2 people marked this as a favorite. |

Wait... I just heard my name two times. (I know, summoning usually takes three times, but I'm a discount-oriented midwesterner.)
Hey there, all! Supers stole the arrival thunder, but I'll second what he said. It'll be a blast seeing Thom in GM mode -- made all the better by getting to know y'all in the process.
Like Supers, I'm fleshing out a character, but I should have it done in the next day or two.
@Thom -- Should we build to level 7 or 8?

Harlan Riggs |

Welcome! Glad to have you both.

Z-4 "Zephyr" |

Always good to have an envoy around, especially if you are ready for to take the lead in social situations.

therealthom |

Excellent. Very excited to have you both aboard, SuperS and Janosian. Welcome.
We'll start at 8th level. That will also give BG and Cellion a little something new and shiny for their PCs. Or you guys can also create fresh characters. I have to play with a calculator to see what starting wealth will be. Let's try 40,000. Harlan and Zephyr may completely re-gear if they wish. [/ooc]
Full disclosure -- I haven't looked at the upcoming scenarios beyond scouting them to see what level they are. So put as nicely as possible, you'll have all the time you need to create and update characters.
Looking ahead, the upcoming scenarios are:
1-29 Honorbound Emissaries (Levels 7-10)
1-31 Treading History's Folly (3-6)
1-34 Heart of the Foe (3-6)
1-39 The Herald's War (7-10)
2-00 Special 2.
There's that awkward dip in level in the middle. BG suggested making 'secondary characters as protégées' and that when we do the special, we run two tables. I think this is a great plan, but we need buy in across the board. Another obvious option would be for me to try to scale 1-31 and 1-34 up. I'm open to other suggestions also.
If we run with the protege plan, we could add 1-30 Survivor's Salvation as an intro for them. We could also take a look at adding 1-23 Return to Sender.
SuperS, J, how familiar are you with the first half of the Scoured Stars arc? Should I throw together a precis of story so far? Yeah, probably. Self-answering question.
Off to do some work.

Z-4 "Zephyr" |

No hurry I've got to get the next module ready. Remember that 16000 limit essentially means you can sell existing equipment for 100% of cost.
Also, this scenario does something wonky. It says Elsebo gives you each some gear that would normally be out of level range and budget as a reward. Then it just lists it like anything else you've encountered in the chronicle -- so you'd have to buy it at full price by SFS rules.
I'm going to give each of you the opportunity to buy either the Tier 3-4 or Tier 5-6 prize for 3/4 price. That's a MK1 electrostatic field armor upgrade or a Black Force Field armor upgrade.
I'm also going to give you a 10% discount on items you've run into during your adventures. I'll make the list tonight.
And another thing…

Harlan Riggs |

@Janosian: Envoy's always a nice to have, but personally I'm not a big fan of playing them so I would never recommend it. I think for party contribution you really can't go wrong either way though.
Regarding scenarios, I've actually GM'd 1-30 Survivor's Salvation before (as well as a couple of others in our list) and can confirm it would be a fun addition. Also Thom, would you be interested in adding 1-38 The Many Minds of Historia? It's related to the fallout of the first SFS special we just ran through, and it's one scenario I never ended up playing but rather wanted to back when Season 1 was first running.
Good to know about those discounts! Is there a full up-to-date list somewhere? I see the quote got cut off.

Z-4 "Zephyr" |

That quote is from the discussion tab about three pages back. Sorry, I didn’t realize the quote got cut off.

Yes, you did. It was the best mission of my short career.

1-38 is one I've been curious about too. I've no objection to running it.
