PILOT BIOGRAPHY
Jaq was born the thirteenth child of a major Karrakin noble house. Her position meant that it was virtually impossible she'd inherit, especially when some of her nieces and nephews born to her elder siblings were themselves having children. Instead she was forged into a weapon and sent off to distinguish herself. Her first assignment was supposed to be an easy one, standing guard over a sleepy little backwater that was nestled between more important nodes of the Karrakin Baronies. As luck would have it, the unit she'd been assigned to was neck deep in trafficking slaves. Jaq found out about their illicit deals, alerted the appropriate authorities, then had to kill all of the slavers when she overheard them planning to kill their captives and her in a way that would implicate her.

During the court of inquiry and court martial that followed, Jaq's family disowned her for her actions as they threatened the noble house's reputation and honor. Without her family's support, she was tried and found guilty of killing her superior officers. The mitigating circumstances of having rescued a few thousand slaves during her rampage saved her from the firing squad, but she was sentenced to live the rest of her life in the Baronies' highest security prison. She never made it there. The elements that had allowed the corruption she'd lanced to fester disappeared her and sold her off to the penal peddlers that sold violent criminals to whoever would buy them.

Jaq was certain that her life was about to be a brief and brutal one when MSMC was hired for a raid on the prison ship she'd been moved to. She wasn't the target, but one of the operatives had broken into her cell, a strange, exuberant young woman who called herself Wraith. The disgraced noble was more than happy to grab at the opportunity chance had given her (besides, her cell would have depressurized when Wraith left anyway.) Shortly after, she began her new life as a member of the Mirrorsmoke Mercenary Company.

PILOT APPEARANCE
Jaq is a small woman who's strength comes more from augments than natural ability. Still, her parents had wanted her to blend into high society, and anything obvious is out. Her skin is fair and her hair is raven-black. Her eyes are the one thing that gives away the lie of a normal, unaugmented girl. They're a brilliant purple most of the time, though she can change their color on a whim.

I was thinking of a Support/Salvage roll so a Lancaster I guess.

Okay, after a message from Atlas and some thought, I've changed up Jaq's mech. Here's her updated stat block.

I need to come up with a more complete profile but don't have time tonight. Lets just say that Jaq was a black sheep even before her family disowned her, and in any incarnation, Jaq tends to be a bit of an oddball who likes things that go boom and bang and whoosh. :D

If picked, you can thank Atlas for all the card puns that will be coming. ;)

Kinda missed this one. I was honestly thinking of Sticking with the Everest and "Hammer". So I will go for stuff to enhance it, not really looking for frames. I think I would go Northstar, and Raleigh for the Hand cannon and Breach charges.

Coming in under the gun!

Roth Frakes aka “Road Block” piloting the "Broken Wing"

Background:
Roth grew up in Makteba Festung near Jupiter’s moon of Ganymede. He was an accomplished Loyal Wing of the Albatross for most of his adult life.

During one fateful sortie Roth was faced with a dire choice: a young child was caught in a crossfire, and in order to save her Roth had to disobey direct orders. He chose to intervene and several members of his lance were killed because of it.

Roth was exiled from the ranks of the Albatross and all of his licenses were revoked. He left the Andes Core and took the child under his wing, raising her as an adopted father.

Years later, out of prospects and looking for work he joins MSMC with his adopted daughter and the hope of passing on some of his wealth of piloting knowledge and atoning for past sins.

Appearance:
Roth is in his early 50s biologically. He’s gruff with leathery skin, medium length salt and peppered dark hair, and an unkempt beard. He’s still in good shape, though his old bones are starting to creak a little more than they used to.

Frame:
GMS Sagarmatha “Broken Wing”

Forest Green, bulky, and covered in armored plates. Obvious dents and missing paint from being on the receiving end of quite a few missile salvos. This is the type of frame that takes a while to get where it’s going, but once it’s there you might as well take your jacket off because it’s going to be difficult to get it to leave.

MSMC BUPSYCH INITIAL REPORT:
Subject has a strong sense of right and wrong. Subject shows confidence and doesn't dwell on mistakes. Observations during the interview and initial probationary period have shown that subject will miss meals and lose track of time while working on projects or studying topics subject finds interesting. Topics of note include engineering, computer science, NHPs, mechanics, architecture, demolitions, and systems manuals. Other topics the subject has studied include history, philosophy, fictional entertainment, and animals that are colloquially known as "cute" or "kawaii."

Subject does not make friends quickly. Currently the subject only interacts with Operative Wraith beyond a superficial level. Subject shows preferences towards quiet, uncrowded places. Subject appears to grow uncomfortable in large gatherings of people.

Subject shows signs of thinking and intuiting through problems about equally. Subject relies on logic when possible, but will readily fall back on gut instincts if there is not time to parse the problem's parameters.

Subject shows strong inclinations towards cooperation over competition outside of some limited scopes, such as gaming. Subject shows moderate empathy towards others. Subject prefers efficiency when possible, however.

Subject is decisive when making decisions. Subject is also highly organized and processes work well ahead of deadlines. Subject does not seem adverse to improvisation, but does not seek it out either.

Writing Sample:

Special thanks to Atlas who gave me the starting material for this and the idea of linking our characters up.
Jaq waits curled up on the thin mattress of her bunk in her cell. The prison ship is two days out from the Kellis-Maul Node, or is it three days? Time is slippery in the never changing bowels of the cell blocks. The only thing to mark the passage of time are the regular patrols by the guards, but how many of them has she missed?

The thump and thoom of explosions knocks her out of her reverie. She looks about wondering what is going on when there's a loud bang that leaves her ears ringing. Out of the dust and choking smoke comes a girl in a stealth suit. "Are you General Martel?" she asks.

"What?" Jaq asks back as she blinks away the spots in her eyes from the flash. She can't hear anything past the ringing for a moment.

"Are. You. General. Martel?" The girl asks her question again, this time speaking slowly and loudly enough for Jaq to wince as her hearing returned.

"Uh, no. I'm not. He's in the next cell block." Jaq studies the girl for a moment and starts to ask her what is going on when the intruder puts her hands to her head and spins around.

"Fuuuuuuuuuu..." she raises her wrist and gets on a comm. "Negative Chalk 2. Echo, Echo, 20 mikes. I say again, East, 20 meters. Send it."

Jaq decides that being quiet seems the prudent course of action now. Another explosion not far from her cell rocks the ship and causes Jaq to stagger about and fall on her backside. The girl goes off and from the shouting. Jaq can make out the words "Affirmative" and "Bug out!" But not much more. She wonders what's going on and why they're after a piece of work like General Martel when the girl in the stealth suit spins back around, pointing a comically large rifle at her face just millimeters from her nose.

"Q&A time, chummer. And this might be for posterity so do be honest. What are ya in for?" Jaq blinks, then realizes that her cell is about to be filled with a whole lot of vacuum when the girl aiming a sniper rifle at her left.

"Uh, what?"

"What are you in for? Geeze, it's like I'm speaking a different language or something." The girl starts to pull on the trigger and Jaq's eyes widen as she notices. "We don't have all day, so if you're not gonna answer, I'll make it quick."

Jaq realizes that she's not ready to die just yet, about a second after she blurts out her answer.

"I shot my commanding officer and squadmates for slaving," she says, well squeaks given how high her voice goes with panic.

Jaq squeezes her eyes shut, hoping that she at least won't feel anything. The girl in the stealth suit blinks as she looks at Jaq and sees her trembling.

"Wiz-ZARD!" the girl chirps, re-slinging the weapon. [/b]"Then lets get you outta here. Tell me, have ya ever thought of career as an independent military contractor?"[/b]

And so began Jaq's new life as in the Mirrorsmoke Mercenary Company, and her friendship with Alanna "Wraith" Whiteangel, much to their commanders' chagrin.

Appearance:
June is a young tan woman, covered in a mishmash of old scars mostly battle wounds across her toned slender body. She dresses lightly, for comfort or for function, almost always carrying her tools on her side. Despite her young age and generally jolly personality, her green eyes simmer with hidden rage, and she lets few get close to her.

Background:
Growing up in a warflung planet in the Boundary Gardens along the Aunic Border, June was press ganged as soldier and expected to die a young age. Only the intervention of an Albatross agent, her soon to be adopted father had saved her life on a battlefield one day.

Since that day, she received education and stability in her life and has mostly recovered from her childhood. Despite that, she dreams of working along side her father, and has worked for the last few years training along aside him for MSMC Deployment.

Appearance and background:

Devin "Havoc" Cerrone is tall and brawny man with a shaved head, square jaw, and clean shaven face. Despite the callsign Devin is quiet and calm outside of combat. In addition to his size and his eerie calm demeanor, Devin has a robotic prosthetic hand and forearm upto his right elbow, the result of a farming accident.

"Mayhem," Devin's GMS-Sagarmatha, is outfitted for CQB armed with explosives, a mech sized shotgun, absolutely massive hands for grabbing and smashing, and a missle rack in case it needs to reach out and touch someone. When not in use the mech sits idly in padmasana and it's black and white paint job forms a lotus mandala on its chest plates, but when activated for combat the plates rearrange to form a laughing skull. Because you can't spell slaughter without laughter.

Devin grew up on a penal colony, he was third generation planetary, as some on a penal colony who committed no crime it kinda sucked. But he got to live and grow in a very natural world. Few things were synthetic and fresh water was abundant. When the Union ended the practice of penal colonies Devin took a chance and joined MSMC for a chance to travel the stars.

the GM, you may establish a minor modification you have made to your mech.
This mod has no numerical benefit beyond the additional HP it grants, but could provide other
useful effects. If the GM agrees that this mod would help with either a pilot or mech skill check, you gain +1 ACCURACY for that check.
Pattern-B Hex Charges (2 SP, Limited 3, Unique) - Expend a charge from this system for one of the following effects:
• Frag Grenade (Grenade, range 5, Radius 1): All characters within the affected area must pass an AGILITY save or take 1d6 explosion. On a success, they take half damage.
• Explosive Mine (Mine, Burst 1): All characters within the affected area must pass an AGILITY
save or take 2d6 explosion. On a success, they take half damage.
Rapid Burst Jump Jet System (2 SP, Unique): You can fly when you BOOST; however, you must end the movement on the ground or another solid surface, or else immediately begin falling.

The Vlad stood out to me as a mech choice later down the line.
