Wahoo! I'm totally down to help make a slide deck with all the maps/handouts/enemy tokens/etc. for everyone to use. I don't have time to get that started this week, but I can kick it off next week if nobody beats me to the punch before then.

Here is my slide deck so far for tiers 7-8.
All encounter maps are on there as background images. I included cropped maps for battles (I hate overly huge maps in Google Slides!), as well as all full-size maps to have on-hand if needed. Maps are labeled on the bottom right corner. I also added NPC art, a Mwangi map, some other art from the scenario, an aid token reference, and a player reference sheet at the end.
I think the only thing left to do is add tokens for monsters.

Just a note that the maps for some areas vary by which level you're doing. The Befuddled Pathfinders encounter, for instance, is a different hazard and uses a different map at 1-2, 3-6, and 7-8.
GM Doug H |
I wonder if that is why my PDF editor was extracting a Stream Crossing map instead of the mountain Ambush Sites map that is shown in the PDF (and it's labeled "Deep Forest too). I actually had to go get the map off another scenario to get the asset.
Having a different product for each tier is a better way to do things, IMO. Good to know.

Ooh, that's annoying if the wrong one is embedded. I'm glad you were able to find the right one elsewhere.

Hi folks!
Everyone, if you have not done so yet, please create your tables and link the Gameplay thread (Redelia is specifically looking for a link to Gameplay rather than Discussion) onto the Sign-up Form.
GM Dennis |
Hi folks. The PbP VOs are working to get the scenario dropped to you. If you ALREADY HAVE a copy of this scenario in your downloads and DO NOT NEED A DROP, please let me know, either via PM or via email.

Hoo boy. I have signed up for my table:
- 3 sorcerers (two with rogue dedication)
- 2 alchemists
- and a wizard.
I see absolutely no way this could ever go wrong - but do we want to see if any of the other 3-4 tables would want a sorcerer badly enough to trade a frontliner for them?
GM Dinketry |
I don't think I have a single player signed up for my 3-4 table.
(Takes a look)
Nope. All tumbleweeds. That being said, Hawthwhile, those players have chosen to sign up that way. Free will equals free consequences.
Also, I have not received the King in Thorns scenario as of yet. Is anyone else in the same boat as me?
GM Blake |
It's also possible that any of them could change their character before actual start.
GM Dennis |
Yes, the scenario support is in process. I don't have a real timeline to give you, but it's being worked on.

The scenario support request has been sent in and is currently all in Paizo's hands. Hopefully we will see them this week. I will keep poking them.
GM Sedoriku |
Hrmm, while we are waiting on the scenario support to drop is there anyway we could get a list of enemies that we might need tokens for so we could start to prep now?
GM Hmm |
Hello, this backup GM is checking in! Happy to see all of you!

We will not get scenarios early, I'm afraid (I'm waiting for that one myself).
GM Dennis |
(I also don't see you on the list to run that one)

When is the official cancelation point for tables that won't muster?
I'm doubting my 7-8 will happen (and looking at the spreadsheet, looks like this is the case for at least 3 other tables).
GM Fuzzfoot |
Hey all - I am also providing backup in case you need it, Paizo or Discord as appropriate. I am reading through all three versions now. Have fun, and shout out if you need it!

Agreed. I’ve got 0 sign ups for the special at this point and the other 3-4 table still isn’t full. I’m not investing a lot of time in this at this point, though I am now reading the scenario that was dropped yesterday.
That said, the end date for sign-ups is Feb 15th, so I think we’ll need to wait a bit longer before closing tables.

I received my 2-00 for 2e, but is there any word on 2-14 for 2e? It's not scheduled to drop until Feb 24, so will we need to wait until then to start or is there a provision to get scenarios early?
The late February releases won't be dropped until after that date as we can't get them early. We added them to the Convention listing as you will still have time to run them during the Con.

We will get rid of them a a few days before the Con start date. Likely this weekend.

I was setting up a few reference pages about aid tokens for my slides and realized they've made a few changes from how aid tokens worked in the past or 1e and Starfinder. Are there any standards/best use practices for how they are used/passed now? Should we try boosting them and then pass at random? Wait and then boost when someone needs help? Also just to confirm, a single aid token can be used for any of the listed options, or do we get one of each type (Offense, Healing, Inspiration, Knowledge) only? Also a table can still pass an aid token they've received, right?

Sounds good. I'll be on the lookout and we'll get the game started as soon after it drops as I can. Thanks!

Hi another backup DM signing in, just downloading and reading up.
I'm more of a Paizo backup as I've not run pbp on discord before, but I guess it's just the same in a text channel.
Have fun and call if you need me.
GM Dinketry |
It’s the end of the weekend and I have no sign ups for my table. I’m officially gonna bow out. Cheers y’all.
GM Dennis |
Thanks for volunteering Dinketry. Sorry it didn't pan out. Thanks also to AndrewW and DougH, whos tables are being paired down as well.
GM Dennis |
I've added a Backup Calendar to the links at the top of the page. If you need a backup, please do the following (in this order):
1) Arrange with a backup to cover your table (usually by asking in this thread and seeing who's available)
2) Mark off those days in that backup's column on the backup calendar. Bonus points for linking to your table (click through to see an example).
PbP specials are long affairs, and there's no shame in needing a backup for a few days. The more notice you can give the better, but don't be afraid to reach out day of, or even to ping me via email or discord if you don't have time/ability to post here and I'll arrange for a backup for you. You should all have an email from me previously, and you can find me on the OPO discord as Dennis Muldoon.

Sorry, Sedoriku, I missed this question. The Aid Tokens are indeed significantly different than they were in the past (most similar to 10-98, I think, but without the generating mechanic). Each table gets one of each type of Aid Token (one Allied Offensive, one Burst of Healing, etc.) That token can only be used for that effect. During each of the four sections of the special (Intro, Part 1, Part 2, Part 3), each table can choose one of their tokens, attempt to boost it, and pass it. It can be any time during that section, so if you want to hold off and see who needs it near the end of Part 2, for instance, that's fine. I would suggest boosting and passing the first one right away, though, so you don't forget. I'll try to remind you near the end of each section to pass if you haven't yet. I'll also post specific instructions for how to handle these in PbP over in the Recruitment tab I just created, a little later today.
GM Dennis |
I posted instructions and examples for passing Aid Tokens. If you have any questions about how that will work, please ask them in this thread so we keep that one clean.
GM Gustavef |
Ok. Looking good to get started.
GM Sedoriku |
Okay, good to know that each token has a specific benefit. Hrmm, one final question about the aid tokens, if we get one from a different table, end up not needing it and another table does, can we pass an aid token we've received?
GM Dennis |
You should use the tokens passed to you, though you don't need to use them right away.
GM Dennis |
You should all have an initial post from my in your table. If I somehow missed you, let me know and I'll rectify.
You have two days to run the Inroduction section. I recommend presenting all of the prep missions to the players at once, or at least half and half, rather than one at a time, so that you can be sure to get through them all.
GM Bret |
I have a player that is having bad weather interfere with their ability to post.
Is it alright for someone to bot their preparation actions if they do not get an opportunity to do it before we move on to Part 1? I generally use this section as sort of a roll-call and want the players to act, but in this case I'm thinking someone botting that player is probably appropriate.
GM Blake |
Since there's no risk and no consumable use, it seems a reasonable time and reason to bot them.
GM Dennis |
Yeah, that seems fine. I know there are a lot of folks with weather issues right now.
