Absolutely! I was thinking of that but I didn't want to have Araton running around like a chicken with his head cut off. I don't want to hog all the things to do. <3

Keeping a watch is definitely doable and, if we're worried that they may try to come in from the top, we can start a large fire in the chimney.

Actually with 12 long bows, no reason to not all take one.

Also, I still find it hilarious that this group works together so well being a bunch of murdering evil doers.

It is one of the things I really love about Way of the Wicked; it stresses cooperation and makes it clear the odds are against you. The few times I've played the start of it, the prison break has been smooth as heck so this has actually been a lot of fun.

Thank you Mr. DM for providing a good challenge without us feeling totally screwed over. <3

GM: As he was basically a prison for the last years of his life, Tawg didn't have any possessions. If you would allow Masterwork Handwraps, though, he would retrieve those from the armory and tie them around each hand, uncharacteristically taking his time, delicately making sure the knots line up. (I went back and noticed I did miss the "No masterwork" qualifier. If masterwork is not allowed, he'll still take regular Hand wraps)

Plan-wise: I'm all for the "window to the tower" plan. The more we can stay inside, the better. It also seems like the tower is, oddly, lightly guarded.

Taking inspiration from Grumblejack, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to destroy any weaponry we're not using before leaving the building.

A fire is a good idea. If we set it at the right time, we could draw guards away from maybe the main gate or anywhere else we may need to go.

Not sure if it matters if a guard has a signal horn now or not. If one does, Ceres could try and disarm him. Or she could attack guard #2 and try and take him out before he can act (assuming he has about 10 more hp). Thoughts?

EDIT: Or she could run past them all and into the tower? If the warden is by himself, Ceres may be able to grapple him and remove him from the board.

Going back to when the window was drawn from the veil and placed on the wall, you probably wouldn't have actually seen this as Tawg was in the back, but his jaw would have dropped at the sight of that happening. He's not used to magics of that sort, so to create a window out of whole cloth (heh heh) would blow his little goblin mind.

He would quickly recompose himself once we saw the guards, but there was definitely a moment where he was useless and standing there.

As for the plan from here, Tawg, Grengar, and Grumblejack will stay down here and 1) protect the door from any guards trying to come in, and 2) kill any guards the rest of the party sends down the stairs.

I have that right?

Things shook out in a way that we had to do a fair bit of improvising and unfortunately there wasn't much time to juggle the cooks IMO. Someone could always risk going back to get them. I'm not sure it is worth the risk at this point though.

We may want to take the warden and guards alive. If the cooks run to the guards, we may need the hostages to forestall an all-out assault.

Were we planning to subdue or to just kill the warden here?

I don't want to accidently chop him in two if we wanted him alive.

I think alive as barter is ideal, but if he's got magic, both Tawg and I don't trust him not to do something fancy and get out of our grasp.

I say go for subdue, kill if things go south. He's no use to us if we're dead.

I was looking at Grengar trying to do non-lethal, and he took a -4 on his attack roll. However, with the Elephant in the Room rules:

Quote:

...players no longer take a -4 penalty to attack rolls when inflicting nonlethal damage with a weapon that deals lethal damage, but instead lose the ability to confirm critical hits when doing so...

Nonlethal Damage with a Weapon that Deals Lethal Damage:
You can use a melee weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage instead, but you cannot confirm critical hits when doing so

It wouldn't have mattered with Grengar's roll, but that's good to keep in mind going forward.

Indeed! Ceres will be at 13 hit points.

Male Human High Priest of Asmodeus

How is it 13?

You rolled: 4, 4, 7, 3, 10. Healing needs to be applied in order rolled. No metagaming the largest heals please.

Healing Ceres first: 4, 4, 7 = 11.

Did you then heal Tawg twice? 3, 10 = 10.

The 3 on Tawg was burned too? I subtracted the first 4 from 17, which was where I thought Ceres was at hp-wise.

Next question: I have infernal healing as a spell, which has as a component of devil's blood or unholy water. These seem like unusual components to me, but I don't see anything about them having a specific value, so can assume that they are in the spell component pouches?

I wasn't metagaming, just doing whatever is easiest. I'm fine with whatever you want to do DM <3

I had originally healed by whoever looked the most banged up after a healing. Since the first three got eaten, I didn't want to slow things down by recalculating everything.

Again, whatever is easiest as the moment and makes the most sense.

I'm also a little confused. I don't see a reason why the first heal on me would get burned. If the first three heals went to Ceres, I'm left with 13 points of healing. Having already added 7 to my current hp, I would add 6 more, which would bring my current hp to 20.

If that's the case, Ceres, definitely cast the Infernal Healing on yourself.

Also, you should have known the Goblin took the shiny thing!

Male Human High Priest of Asmodeus

Ok so first 3 to Ceres, second 2 to Tawg.
