Just an FYI, I'm heading out on a cruise tomorrow afternoon and won't be back till the following Sunday. I bought the streaming package so I'll try to post once a day/as needed...but I also bought the drink package so if my posts turn out not very coherent, I'll blame it on the Elven wine... ;)

Witch's Winter Holiday

We are at the end of the scenario, and the original Seeker arc! Please roll your Day Jobs for this Chronicle Sheet as this time so I can prepare Chronicle sheets - and if you're feeling extra generous, you could include your reporting information in the same post for my ease of reference. XD

Witch's Winter Holiday

Campaign Points!

This scenario and the three that follow in the Eyes of the Ten campaign arc offer a unique reward in the form of Campaign Points, an abstract measurement of how well each player character does at the business of the Pathfinder Society. Specifically, these points measure the confidence of the Society’s leadership (here represented by Eliza Petulengro and Osprey) in the abilities of the player characters. Use the guidelines below to award each player a number of Campaign Points for this adventure, marking that total on the character’s Chronicle sheet as noted. At the conclusion of this scenario, player characters who accumulate a certain number of Campaign Points will be eligible for a special reward from the Decemvirate.

Campaign Points come in two forms: group awards and individual awards. If any PC completes an action listed as a group award, all members of the group receive a Campaign Point for that action. Personal awards apply only to the characters who qualify for them, as appropriate.
Characters may gain 1 Campaign Point for this scenario from each of the following actions:
- The PC forgoes his or her faction mission in favor of protecting the Decemvirate at all costs (individual award)
- The PC deals no needless damage to the Decemvirate’s property and steals none of the valuable relics held within the Sanctum of the Ten (individual award)
- The PCs activate the osprey figurine and send it to take some sort of alert to Osprey of the attack (group award)
- The PCs prevent Adril from slaying Shemis (group award)

Everyone gets four campaign points (except Kiboko, who actually accomplished his faction mission - feel free to roleplay that out in Gameplay if you want). Totals are as follows:
- Fendel: 16
- Flyn: 14
- Kiboko: 13
- Kramac: 15
- Zaarah: 16

That means that everyone is eligible for the special boon! PCs who, over the course of all four parts of the Eyes of the Ten campaign arc, earn at least 12 Campaign Points are honored by the Decemvirate with a promotion to the rank of venture-captain. While the new venture-captains aren’t granted their own lodges immediately, they nevertheless gain an unparalleled amount of influence within the Society and among its allied factions. A venture-captain gains 5 bonus PP for her accomplishment.

Additionally, each venture-captain may designate one new initiate into the Pathfinder Society to take under her wing. This tutelage manifests in a +2 bonus to a single ability score of the player’s choice at character creation. A player must designate the new character’s Pathfinder Society number at the time the Chronicle for this scenario is granted.

So in your Day Job post, please also include this new character's number so I can record it on the Chronicle sheet. My understanding is that since this boon applies at character creation, it needs to be applied to a new character (with 0 chronicle sheets), and this is backed up by discussions on the Paizo forums. If further clarification is needed, I can ask our (online) RVC.

Thanks for running this all the way through for us, GM Hawthwile, I really appreciate it! You did an awesome job!

Kiboko, Kramac, Zaarah, & Fendel: It was a blast playing this with y'all! Hope we can get together for another Seeker module session somewhere down the line.

Kiboko & Kramac: I was reminiscing and looked back; it's been almost 5 years to the day since Kiboko, Kramac, & Flyn played The Confirmation together under GM Batpony. Whew, doesn't seem like it's been that long ago...time sure does fly when you're having fun...

Re: new character - I have a GM blob (my -16) that is unmade. I am contemplating assigning a race boon, this boon, and "Maestro of Manumission" to this character, all of which would be "this must be your first chronicle" boons. I gather that it is legal to assign multiple boons of this sort to the same character, but I don't know exactly what the VC protégé boon says so I'll be guided by you GM. I also have a lvl 2-4 3XP GM chronicle to assign to -16, but that can't be applied until after Maestro of Manumission which grants 3XP.

If I can't stack the boons, my next 0xp character is 75577-18.

Thanks for running us through this epic arc, GM Hawthwile, and sticking with it when it was tough. Much appreciated. I really enjoy your storytelling.

Anyone feel like getting the protégés together for a game? ;)

Now that would be very interesting! Kinda like, Star Trek the Next Generation, only with Pathfinder…

It might depend on Kiboko's GM blob. If everyone is first or second level, I could run a Master of the Fallen Fortress/ Wounded Wisp / CONFIRMATION trilogy (for you too Hawthwile, assuming a GM remembers how to play just one character).

Thoughts?

I am thinking about making a Tiefling Paladin named Dia Bolique, but I have not made my final decision.

I just want to re-iterate my thanks to the GM and to the group. This was a long undertaking, and could have fallen apart. I appreciate everyone's commitment. I also enjoyed everyone's role play. I was heartened to see that these Seeker Level characters (and players) continue to grow and develop as their story continued to unfold.

Hawthwile, amazing job keeping everything on track. It was fun and challenging.

Witch's Winter Holiday

I think you’re good to go with your first choice of protégés @Kiboko - though it’s a weird edge case for sure. The text of the boon copied the text from the scenario that I copied in my previous post.

And I do want to thank everyone both for the praises expressed now and for the frustrations expressed at the beginning of the series. I made an assumption about what kind of game would be fun for y’all, and I was very wrong. Thank you for having the courage and guts to stop the game and express yourselves, and then for sticking around so we could all figure out together what would be enjoyable. I certainly feel like I’ve grown as a GM as a result of running this series for y’all, and it’s not because of the complexity of the encounters.

As for future adventures, I would be happy to bring my own protégé on adventures. Perhaps a GM rotation? I’d just hate for someone to not get to play their character ever.

Also, y’all might be interested in the soft follow-up to this series - the two-part set of Passing the Torch. I would, however, not recommend playing it immediately following Eyes of the Ten, but to get some other Seeker content under your belts and tackle it in the higher tiers (tiers are 12-13, 14-15, and 17-18). I would be willing to run that arc at a later date if y’all wanted to play together again.

Wow!! You guys are super awesome!! :-D

I would love to continue playing with you guys and think that a GM Rotation at the first levels totally makes sense.

I could offer Wounded Wisp or Heroes for Highdelve! ;-)

Looking over my race boons, in addition to the tiefling, I have a samsaran. A fear-based Dirge Bard sounds fun too. With a dip in cross-blooded sorcerer for the Impossible and Serpentine bloodlines to mind effect traditionally mindless or resistant targets.

As it is the last 1e character I will probably create, I want to get this right. Decisions, decisions.

I want to make Kiboko's protégé something with a connection to the mwangi half-orc and a class I haven't yet played. I'm looking at three options:

  • "lawful neutral guy" - a shaman set up to use an arbiter familiar and the intelligent flail Scalebane. (He's a mwangi half-orc)
  • A Magaambyan arcanist - starts as a Wood wizard before entering the prestige class. Gets Standard-action Good summons once in the prestige class. I've played lots of wizards in the past, but not in PFS. My single CORE character just hit level 2 and took his first wizard level.
  • An android putrefactor witch, possibly eventually dipping inspired blade swashbuckler and going Eldritch Knight to take advantage of the archetype's melee abilities. (It's a bad archetype compared to the Witch base class, doesn't get any hexes till level 8, but it looks fun regardless).

  • Liberty's Edge
