Bocke, I think its actually 19 and 17. Guy's inspire courage is +2 at his level. The first shot hits, the second shot will miss. But, I'm just going to take Blue out of the fight, as they are staggered and also they would have failed that save vs the color spray. And Laafdahni, post your spell DCs so you get full credit next time!

I've always considered going down stairs to be normal movement and up stairs to be difficult terrain.
Bask and Salim work to take down the kobold spellcaster, but the tough little creature remains standing.
Orange and Yellow both drop their slings and pull out spears as they run forward to defend the spellcaster. They stab down at Bask from the top of the stairs. One gets a lucky stab that sinks into the hunter's shoulder.

Bask manages to duck out of the way in time to avoid the worst of the kobold's breath attack, but still gets singed.

Wands are considered to work like weapons. Assuming its stored in a sheath, quiver, or bandolier and not at the bottom of your handy haversack you can draw it as part of a move action, just like a weapon.
Guy steps forward and heals the injured Bask.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Bocke fires two arrows. The first strikes the yellow kobold down. He attempts to redirect the shot to another kobold, but the shot goes wild, hitting nothing.
Laafdahni jumps down the stairs and aims a blast of cold energy at the cluster of kobolds. The yellow kobold that Bocke shot freezes and shatters into pieces. Orange tries to get out of the way, but is stopped cold in its tracks by the magical blast. Amazingly, the stunned spellcaster stumbles forward at an opportune moment and avoid the worst of the blast.
Orange Reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Spellcaster Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
The evil little spellcaster shakes off the effects of the color spray, then steps back, and attempts to cast a spell defensively. As sparks fly from his fingers the kobold cackles devilishly despite the grievous wounds that he has suffered. As he prepares to unleash the awesome power of his spell, Salim lets out a roar at just the right moment and the sorceror's spell fizzles with a pop. The dissapated energy causes the cat's hair to stand on end, but luckily no one is damaged by the spell.

Green drops his sling and drawing his spear, circles around to Sinaryn's other side, then jabs at her with the sharpened point. Sinaryn grabs the end of the spear with her free hand and kicks the kobold backwards.
This movement provokes if Sinaryn is somehow threatening, but I believe she just has the pistol out at this point.

The remaining kobolds withdraw back into the jungle, leaving the party in the ruins near the altar. The miners move forward to free the bound victim on the altar and grab whatever they can to defend themselves. A stout looking miner steps forward, wielding a huge bone as a makeshift club and says "There's going to be more of them coming. We should run."
The jungle is starting to come alive with the hooting sounds of more kobold patrols moving towards the ruins. And deep below the earth they can hear the sound of something heavy that seems to be getting closer. But with the fighting over for now, there are a few moments of peace to examine the location.
Half buried under a pile of bones is a small leather satchel with the Glyph of the Open Road embroidered on it. Inside there are some spoiled rations, an elixir in a polished stone vial and a note book.

The party leads the miners away from the ruins and through the jungle valley. The sounds of kobold scouting parties fill the jungle and several times a stone or arrow flies through the trees at the party. Luckily none of their missiles hit anyone and the kobolds seem reluctant to engage the party in close combat. The sun sets and it is dark by the time they reach the ridge, but the miner they left behind is waiting there. She waves a torch to the party to signal where she is at.
The rest of the journey is uneventful and they are able to make it back to Fort Bandu with the surviving miners. Seeing the group of Pathfinders and miners returning, the soldier open their gates and let the party enter.
Bocke Reed
|
The old soldier sighs, "The mining companies have tents out in the market grounds. but if you're wondering why people might look like they want to attack you, remember that they are unable to work right now and some of them have lost friends due to the kobold attacks. Helping you is going to make a lot of people here angry. Alright, do you have everything you need from me? I have soldiers waiting."
Bocke seeks out the soldier that explained why people were angry.
"We've returned with some of the friends you thought you lost and gave the kobolds a defeat that they won't soon forget. Is this good enough to at least stop the melon-throwing?"
GM Badblood
|
The soldiers seem less angry then when the Pathfinders first arrived and there are many people in the settlement who are joyous to see their friends, lovers and comrades arrive back safely. The soldiers bring the group of Pathfinders to meet with Praetor Sylien and give him a debriefing.
Sinaryn
|
"Told you so." Sinaryn mutters as the reception is at least a bit warmer.
"Praetor, I won't say problem solved yet, but we started cleaning up the supposed mess piled on Sharrowsmith. Those kobolds are out sacrificing anything they can get their hands on and maybe Sharrowsmith was one of the first."
Guido "Guy" Falkes

“We did not stay long enough to find out exactly what sort of creature they were making the sacrifices to. Too many kobolds and we had the miner’s to worry about as well. We did bring back a few of the bones from the more recent victims.” He nods towards Bask, inviting him to share what he learned from the bone fragments.
“As I said, we also rescued several miners. The first set said they could make it from their camp back to here, did they arrive safely? They had been attacked by undead.”
Laafdahni Riverrun

Along the way, Laafdahni calmly and compassionately listened to the miners' tales, offering support and understanding to each of them. (Therapy sessions with Deanna Troi) When they arrive at the Fort, she watches them reunite with their loved ones with a fullness in her heart. A smile trickles across her lips at the sight of people rejoicing in newfound hope and love renewed.
Recalling her earlier fumbles the last time they were here, Laafdahni hangs in the back, letting the others do the talking. There is a feeling of unfinished business nagging at her mind, however, and when Guy mentions how they didn't stay long enough to see the creature, she speaks up. "I would be willing to go back to do more reconnaissance. If the cause of these attacks isn't removed, they'll just keep happening. None of us wants that."
GM Badblood
|
Praetor Sylien thanks the party for bringing back the miners and for the intel that they are able to provide.
"I wish you were able to find out what Sharrowsmith was up to but at least you have a clue on where to go next. I know of this Krihirik Sharrowsmith mentioned in his notebook. I encountered them years ago when I served up north in the Mwangi expanse. They are a jungle tribe and they live off what they can hunt and gather in the forest. I can give you some directions to the general area, and once you're up there, you should be able to get more precise directions."
"You can resupply yourselves here. It'll take a few weeks to get up there, so you'll want to prepare. We have a few merchants staying here right now, so you may have access to some trade goods that we normally wouldn't have." The Praetor pauses as if considering an after thought. "Oh, there is another Pathfinder who came into town with the merchants. I don't know why he's here, but I would appreciate if you took him with you when you go. You made some friends bringing those miners back, but there's still some people here who are angry and its a problem I'd rather not deal with."

***************** New character joining *****************
The door opens and a dwarf, a fellow Pathfinder, enters. The Venture-Captain introduces him briefly.
Jangafzaar is a dwarf that has seen the face of this world for some years now. He has auburn hair, amber eyes and is standing with a deep sadness visible in his eyes.
He is wearing lamellar leather armor and carries a heavy crossbow at his hip and a glaive at his back.
He remembers the words of officials that sent him with a warning that this team is facing danger. Without looking at anyone he speaks up.
"Love ... love ... is torn ... when lives are lost. I heard about the tragic events here. I am glad that the Society cares for its people and supports those that care for others."
He turns towards you and has a slightly absent view when he starts speaking.
"Jangafzaar Kargar is my name and I am a cleric of the Eternal Rose ... I heard that you had many challenges to overcome... a brutal enemy and potentially an ancient evil. I thank you all for supporting each other and this community ... I hold deep relationships to many within the Society and hope that one day also we can call each other friends!"
Hope but also sadness are visible in his eyes.

The journey from Fort Bandu to the Kaava Lands is oppressively hot, but it gets easier as the days go on and the terrain transitions from rugged foothills to open grasslands before giving way to dense jungle. Following the directions from Fort Bandu’s garrison captain, it is not difficult to find Krihirik village, which lies approximately ten miles inside the jungle’s border— and twenty feet off the ground.
Narrow rope bridges connect a few dozen tree-dwellings overhead, forming a small but secure community. Bright-skinned, bulging-eyed gripplis go about their daily business nearby. Crates and sacks of trade goods litter the jungle floor, and several gripplis busily inspect a bundle of swords, throwing down their spears and nets in favor of freshly forged steel.
A blue-and-brown-skinned grippli in practical traveling clothes bounds forward and holds out his webbed hands in welcome.
“More visitors come to trade with the Krihirik? You are most welcome here, though I fear we have little to offer at this time. Or perhaps there’s some other reason you came all this way?”

Yes, it is good that we were able to reunite so many people who thought their love was lost." She seems like she's about to say more, but stops and stares off into space as emotion swells within her, a whiff of memory from her buried past.
Snapping back to the present, she bestows one more smile upon Jangafzaar, then steps back, releasing his hand.
Currently, chatting with gripplis:
"Hello!" Laafdahni responds cheerily, keeping her tone light and conversational. "I am Laafdahni, and here we have Jangafzaar, Bask, Bocke, Guy, and Sinaryn. We are happy to look for trades, but actually we come seeking information, and perhaps an ancient relic. Are you the master of such knowledge here?"
Bocke Reed

"Bocke Reed, Inquisitor of Nethys," Bocke introduces.
Bocke keeps his quarterstaff on his back during the trek, explaining that it's not a walking stick.
Sinaryn
|
"Progress, it seems has reached them." Sinaryn remarks as they trade out their weapons.
Sinaryn bows with a flourish as Laafdahni introduces them. She is sporting a new cloak and buckler that she purchased before leaving their last destination.

Earlier ...
Jang thanks the Pathfinders for welcoming him so warmly!
"Hopefully I can be of support. We Dwarfs are not always easy!" he says.
* * *
Now ...
Jang gives a Dwarven hand sign of respect and steps forward.
"I am an expert in trade and commerce. And believe me that you have a lot to offer - you might just think that whatever you have is not worth much but with our help you surely can identify the value that you can bring to others!"

Guy looks at the swords and the tribe's reaction to them. He gives the blue and brown grippli a tip of his hat as Sinaryn gives his name.
At a break in the conversation, Guy interjects "Sorry, I don't think we got your name. As she" with a nod towards Sinaryn "said, I'm called Guy."
Nodding towards the swords "Must have just recieved those in trade. Who sold them to you and what was the price?"
