GM Badblood's Scions of the Sky Key - Part III - The Golden Guardian (Inactive)

Game Master Lance K

This thread will be used for the Scions of the Sky Key series, which is a 1st Edition Pathfinder scenario series which consists of three parts that are meant to be played in order. This will be a Pathfinder Society game, which means that the players need to follow PFS rules regarding character building and will receive a chronicle sheet after completing each part.

A wand of bless pops out from Bocke's spring loaded wrist sheath, and he casts bless.

"Easy there, my friend," he says to the kobold (in Common - unfortunately, he does not know Draconic), "We are not here for you. We are looking for the smooth-skinned ones."

Bocke blesses himself and the people near him. The red sniper cries out in surprise and there are noises of other creatures scurrying about.

The bless only hits Bocke, Bask and Salim. Everyone else is out of range or behind a solid wall.

A creature steps into view from behind the closed porticullus and fires a bolt down the hallway towards Sinaryn, then reloads the weapon. The undine jumps in surprise as the missile bounces off her buckler. An inch or two over and it would have struck her.

Bask and Salim move out of the room while Bocke leans into the crack in the wall and fires an arrow at the toughest looking kobold in the room, a relatively large looking warrior in an ancient looking breastplate. The arrow is high and clatters off the wall after sailing over the warrior's head.

Guy fires an arrow through the crossed metal bars of the rusty gateway, striking the creature in the eye. It is an incredible shot, but the creature is amazingly still standing despite the horrific wound.

Laafdahni moves into the room with Bocke and Toral.

26 is what you needed due to him having improved cover.

Toral, you can't target someone through a solid wall. You have to have line of sight. The only place you're going to be able to get line of sight is where Bocke is standing. I'm delaying your action to after the Tough Kobold.

Laafdahni's heart is beating more quickly than it ever has, her palms are sweating profusely, her breathing is rapid and shallow, her eyes are dilated... She's thoroughly panicking about what she's chosen to do. As usual, rational thought doesn't work so well in such a state, so it doesn't occur to her that discretion is the better part of valor. Trying to prove that you're not useless by throwing yourself heedlessly into danger is quite dysfunctional. Oh, well. There she goes.

Trembling, with teeth chattering, Laafdahni takes the final step toward the crack in the wall and takes a deep breath, preparing to squeeze through. It is at this moment, however, that she sees how close the kobolds are. She pokes her head through, and warm relief washes over her. So, it's a move action to squeeze through the crack. I'll let you split your movement between getting to the crack and after getting through it, but you're not going to be able to move through it AND move AND get a standard action. And Toral will need to make an Escape Artist. Yeah, this a pain in the butt if you don't have any Small characters in the party, but you are dealing with kobolds after all.

Bocke manages to squeeze through the incredibly tight hole and emerges on the other side. It was harder than expected and he has to take a deep breath before finding his target hiding in the room up ahead.

"It certainly gives you a rush. Watching my blood crawl back into the wounds on their own is a wild sight. Damn, all these doors and walls are making this fight a pain in the arse for me...where are they again?" Sinaryn quips and complains as she looks for a target. She squeezes through after the others.

The Dragon's Demand

Laafahni jumps back behind the stone wall as the flame strikes her and avoids the worst of the kobold's fiery breath. She fishes out a wand and heals herself, as does the bard Guy. Toral attempts to squeeze through the narrow gap in the wall but finds his breastplate seems to be too thick to get through the hole.

Meanwhile Bask leans into the door and slams it with his shoulder. Miraculously, the door bursts off its hinges and slides across the floor, striking the wall.

As the party closes in on him, the last remaining kobold fires a flurry of missiles at the group before stepping further into the room. Both shots just barely miss Bocke but he is sure that both of them would have hit if the kobold's aim wasn't obstructed by the dungeon wall.

Bocke receives cover from his relative position.

Bocke I see that you have +15 temporary HP in your stat block, but you would not have been a legal target for the false life spell as it has a range of Personal. I had assumed that Toral meant to cast the spell on himself. Luckily neither shot hit you.
