"This place has totally seen better days, ya know. But it doesn't seem like we are any closer to getting rid of these, uh, new appearances."
| GM Elberion |
Robyyn, you can open Reginald’s spoiler on the previous page. It was DC20
Reginald Gerbin III
|
"Well yes, the tower certainly is getting rid of that new material pretty quickly," Reginald agrees with Ischell as he strokes the strange amulet around his neck with a sweaty finger. "But I'm sure there's a perfectly logical explanation for it - we just have to keep looking for it! Onward!"
Castinus Fulvio
|
Castinus agrees, emphatically. "Let's go onto the tower, fast. I'd like to leave the Willies behind..."
Robyyn
|
Robyyn stuffs the horn in his sack, and confirms Castinus' suggestion. "I agree; lets get to the tower before those wisps become a threat... if they aren't already."
| GM Elberion |
Shards of shell continue to slough off the building but you are ready for them and, with no threats to worry about, can easily reach the building.
Within, there are no interior elements remaining beyond a few chunks of rock. The whole interior had collapsed and disintegrated.
** spoiler omitted **
.
[/spoiler]
I didn't make it clear. This is the tower that you were heading toward. It's surface is made from constantly growing and shedding shell and the interior is hollowed out and collapsed. You found a horn of fog there, and a necklace that Reginald is now wearing was retrieved from the lizard's stomach.
Check out the map and decide where you would like to explore next.

Did we land at B1, and is the tower B7?
"If I was, like, going to build something important- I would probably build it in middle- ya know? Like that big old pyramid thing!"
Robyyn
|
Robyyn looks to the ziggurat at the middle, but scrunches his lips as he surveys the rest of the island. "That," he says, pointing at the much closer feature (B5), "is very nearly on the way. No sense passing it by unexamined."
What about all of the other features on the map that don't have location IDs? Obviously they've got no interest to us from a practical sense, but our PCs don't know that they aren't labeled on a map in in a game. Is there an in-game reason we would be skipping those?
Castinus Fulvio
|
"It looks like a hut, or a beehive, or something" muses Castinus, scanning the structure B5. "Let's get over there before more of these floating things arrive."
If the rest of the group agree, castinus sets off toute suite for the next structure.
| GM Elberion |
Genuinely, I cannot remove labels from this map. The in-game logic is that everything else is largely crumbled and only those structures remain as landmarks. If your PC is the kind that likes to root around then go for it!

"Seems logical enough to me man", He spins his kama and sets off behind the half-elf- eyes alert to the crumbling ruins about him.

Parvaaz and Castinus begin to feel distinctly strange. Parvaaz' eyes turn a shiny black colour and he gains darkvision 10' while Castinus' hair begins to fall out in thick clumps and his eyes seem to be moving outward, toward the side of his head +2 to perception checks.
As you draw closer to the dome, you can see more clearly.
A sheet of muddy water flowing up from the floor forms the door to this domed, shell-like structure. The liquid moves in a continuous loop, flowing from a large central pool across the floor and up the walls in a thin sheet, then falling from the domed crystal ceiling in a cylinder of water. A large bubble of murky water floats in the air above the pool. Detailed mosaics of fantastic sea creatures and undersea motifs adorn the coral-colored walls.

Fingering a clump of loose hair, Castinus glares at the others in anger: "This is far from ideal. I care not what whichery infests this island - permenent or not, someone must suffer from this curse we are falling under!" He stares again at the Whisps the group is accumulating - "Maybe they will not follow us inside, through the waterfall door?"
When all are ready, Castinus is prepared to bull through the door at speed, into the room beyond.

As you barge through the wall of water, you notice the floating sphere of water turn inky-black and tentacles flicker out of the dark water for a moment.
There is a pool of water in the centre of the room that is 30ft across and 10 ft deep. A sheet of water flows from the pool, across the floor around and back down into the pool. A 20ft diameter bubble of water floats 10ft above the pool. It is a perfect sphere. The water that flows back down does not touch the bubble. The pool/shell and the bubble are separate.

Have we been threatened in any way yet beyond a color change and this brief appearance of tentacles?
Castinus Fulvio
|
Castinus gawps at the peculiar watery object ahead of him. "Robyyn, Reginald, what on Golarion is that?"
He is wary of the reliability of his own conjections on its nature; instead he waits for the opinion of the others whilst focusing closely on the suspicious tentacular 'thing' that disappeared when he entered...

Robyyn
|
Robyyn, after studying what he can see of the tentacles briefly, visibly relaxes. "Not to say that it's not threat at all, but I think this is just a normal octopus. Well, a giant octopus, anyway. But nothing eldritch or arcane."
Liking the crowd of bodies around him to keep him safe from the tentacles, he stays in place, focusing his gaze with evil intent to work his will against the creatures defenses as he begins to laugh softly.
Standard: evil eye (-2 saves; Will DC 18 for 1 round duration, else 9 rounds duration) vs. octopus
Move: cackle (extend duration of evil eye by 1 round)

Robyyn, it currently has total concealment. You need to see it for that. You may choose something else.

Delay, with that as a readied action for when it appears. No cackle due to readied actions being standard only; hopefully it just fails the save and cackle isn't needed.

Mist moves forward drawing two blades and surveys the ball of water thoughtfully.
"Shall we just walk around and leave it there?"
| GM Elberion |
Looking at it, you have concealment from it as long as the ink persists. That means you can always use stealth. If you wanted to, you could sneak around and check out the place.
And, as I said, there are corners on the ground that it cannot reach. You could camp there and use ranged attacks against it.
You may approach this as a combat or as a dangerous puzzle.
