Ischell |
"Whooooooooa" escapes Ischell's agape mouth as he dumbfoundedly stares at the streets laid out before them.
"I totally didn't realize this island was, like, so big. Ya know?"
Aaftaab |
Aaftaab raises a grippli eyebrown.
"Well, Parvaaz and I see such wondrous sceneries regularly but I can imagine that this is astounding for you all."
Reginald Gerbin III |
"And the clockwise spiral pattern to the roads..." Reginald muses as he touches down lightly on the ground. "Similar perhaps to the spiral of Pharasma, yes? Or I think some snail shells have similar chamber structure inside. So we should absolutely go the wrong way - you discover the best secrets that way!" He rubs his hands together with delight.
Castinus's plan of swooping around to B3 sounds good!
GM Elberion |
As you cross the land, the building materials - as fine and translucent as porcelain - and curved structures remind you that these building are ancient not only in construction but also in design.
Your hair stands on end, fizzing pops of sound erratically disturb your hearing and ripples of light similar to those found in deserts regularly disrupt your view when looking into the distance. Those sensitive to magic feel the whole island suffused with auras of transmutation and enchantment.
As you have been moving, you have felt a strangeness growing within you.

Robyyn: 1d6 ⇒ 2
When you stop to take stock, you realise that Aaftaab, Mist and Parvaaz have all begun to weep thick, black blood. Castinus and Robyyn'd eyes begin to bulge, their noses flatten and their lips crack. Ischell joints become knobbly and webbing grows between his fingers and toes. Casovir and Reginald both find that their skin becomes clammy and moist, with an oily sweat.
As you choose your spot to ascend, glowing orbs of light draw around you and follow the group, never coming closer than twenty feet away.
Robyyn |
"This is... amazing!" For once, Robyyn isn't gruff or grumbling; a simple expression of wonder overtakes his face. "I don't care where we go first; let's just explore this magnificent place!"
Castinus Fulvio |
"So: I'm not too keen on this ... transmutation that seems to be affecting us." Castinus stops and fingers his cracked lips and bulging eyes nervously. "Robyyn, Reg - you are the experts on this sort of thing - are we in trouble here?"

Robyyn confirms Castinus' assessment of the wisps, and hopefully has something to offer regarding the general effect they are experiencing. "Some knowledge comes with a cost, Castinus! Hold steady, let me figure this out..."
GM Elberion |
With that roll, I will add that you look around and realise that some of the ancient streetlights you have seen are still going, powered by will o wisps. It seems likely that some of these wisps may have been here since the days when this place was inhabited.
Ischell |
Looking down at his hands, Ischell is agast. "But, like... that isn't even possible!" before looking up at the others and seeing their various ailments.
"You guys... I think something might be, ya know, wrong."
"And don't look now, I think we have some company." as he gently unhooks the Kama's from his waist band.
Reginald Gerbin III |
Reginald fans himself absentmindedly. ”Is it just me, or it is roasting up here?” he asks, not seeming to have noticed the changes afflicting him and his companions. ”Because I am sweating up a storm here!” He laughs at his own joke, oblivious to the danger approaching.
Robyyn |
"I'm sure it's fine..."
Bluff: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4
You can tell that Robyyn is quite confident that it won't be fine.
Castinus Fulvio |
"What out for these things: 'wispy willies', I think they are called. Don't know why. they're immune to magic, and can go invisible. They might have been part of the original infrastructure of this place, in those lamp-lights. That would make them very old indeed..."
sense motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
"Robyyn, you look worried. What in the seven Hells is happening to us?"
Ischell |
Ishell spends a moment in quiet self reflection, eyes closed and attention focused. His eyes flicker open, but his tone and demeanor seem to have shifted.
"This is just one such trial. Who we are is more important than how we appear- isn't that right Castinus? Enlightenment comes through the overcoming of adversity. Iori will give us guidance, when the time is right"
Standing to his full height, Ischell's durfy posture gives way to a sense of purpose. "I will lead the way, if I must"
GM Elberion |
Climbing the ridge is awkward but with your magics, and a roc, you manage fairly easily.
Cresting the rise, you can see you goal more clearly and you stop one-hundred feet away to take in the view.
Piles of white shale litter the ground before a twisting, broken spire near a high cliff. Large white flakes constantly slough off the top and sides of the tower and plummet to the ground and sea below, as if the spire was still growing like some out-of-control mollusk. A gaping hole provides entry to the lower floor.

Aaftaab looks at the team and then at Parvaaz.
"Let us go in!" he says and looks for traps at the gaping hole.
