The vials are magical, but the priest is unable to determine the nature of the enchantments on the liquids.
The next door north is also unlocked. It opens to reveal a room whose furnishings have all been destroyed beyond recognition, with ancient bloodstains still marring the floor and wall carvings. Red sees nothing that was not obvious at first glance.
DM Carbide
The party continues their orderly progression through the rooms, turning now to the furthest north door on the east side of the hall. Tusk attempts to work the latch, but it does not budge. The door likewise does not respond to pushes or pulls.
DM Carbide
Are you going to try to force the door, or move on to the next one?
DM Carbide
Mark off a charge for the chime.
The bard strikes the silvery metal tube, filling the air with its melodious peal. As its echoes die away, the sealed door springs open.
Inside are a plain set of biers free of any burden save the dust of ages, along with cabinets and shelves holding ancient embalming tools. The walls are undecorated stone. Searching, Red finds nothing else of interest in the room.

There is nothing magical in the room.

Red casts detect magic and grumbles to himself about the two doors to an important room the rest of the party ignored.
Nitre looks at Red and gives a shrug of her shoulders. "He's a juggernaut; what can we do?"
DM Carbide
Tusk throws open the door to reveal a rotting corpse standing in the center of the room, bloated as if by some internal pressure. With a low moan, it begins to stagger towards the opened doorway.

Though he would love to have a flanking buddy, he would also love to get in two attacks in quick succession, so he just steps forward to deliver his own 1-2.

Delay. Intent is to move in and attack once there is a clear space to do so, but you can't ready a full action.
Damage: 2d4 + 5 ⇒ (4, 3) + 5 = 12
DM Carbide
Red holds.
Everyone else can act!
Jianyu Tu

Just a reminder scorpion style does the damage whether or not the enemy passes the save or if extra effects don't work.
Jianyu steps into a better tactical position and unleashes a flurry of blows.
Flurry of blows strike 1: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 2 = 25
Flurry of blows strike 2: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 2 = 25
Flurry of blows damage 1: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Flurry of blows damage 1: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Spinning around Jianyu kicks out then spins again to build momentum and kicks again.
Tusk Two-Blade

remember to add the inspire bonuses, Jianyu.
Tusk just grunts in reply, unwilling to give up a precious attack to make room for the others. Then he also spins like Jianyu, trying to look showy, but to little effect.
To hit Orc double axe, inspired, flank: 1d20 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 + 2 = 8
Damage, inspired: 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7
To hit Orc double axe, inspired, flank: 1d20 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 1 + 2 = 11
Damage, inspired: 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10
You cannot 5' step a hard corner, right? Nitre/Red, you are going to have to do the bull rush maneuver yourself if you want to make room. Remember that you can do so even if Tusk is in the way, but if you fail you go back behind him.
DM Carbide
Jianyu, this zombie has DR 5/piercing (something I missed, so I'll have to retcon that), and unarmed attacks are bludgeoning. Re Scorpion Style, zombies are undead; here's the relevant quote from the Bestiary description of the undead type:
Immunity to any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects or is harmless).
Round 2 (ongoing; rearranged):

Jianyu unleashes a pair of blows against the zombie, his accuracy unparalleled. However, the zombie shows no sign of damage from the monk's fist and foot. Tusk can't manage to tag the slow-moving creature.

Fair enough. I won't bother mentioning the scorpion style for now then. Whenever he makes a single attack as a standard action it will be a scorpion strike
DM Carbide
Undead won't be the only things you find down here, so it may yet come in handy.
DM Carbide
Assuming that Red also delays, and Mitsrandir doesn't shoot into melee:
The zombie matches Tusk in ineffectuality.
Everyone can act!
Tusk Two-Blade
|
If Jianyu attacks and moves sideways, a Bull rush will work. Hint, Hint. Or if anyone has a decent acrobatics maybe you could get past it?
Tusk gleefully aims up another pair of shots, hoping to get lucky this time.
To hit Orc double axe, inspired, flank: 1d20 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 + 2 = 9
Damage, inspired: 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6
To hit Orc double axe, inspired, flank: 1d20 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 + 2 = 6

I have to laugh. Poor Tusk.

Punch damage, incl. IC: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Tusk can't seem to get the hang of fighting in the close quarters of the doorway. The monk launches another furious set of blows, only one of which lands (doing no damage). Then he quickly steps aside.
Everyone else can act!
Tusk Two-Blade

You could Bull Rush the zombie if you want to make room and get into the fight. I'm not trying to be pushy (pun intended) but I do want to make it clear that Tusk may be in the way, but he can be worked around easily enough.
Nitre

You could Bull Rush the zombie if you want to make room and get into the fight.
There's no where to Bull Rush it to; Jianyu is in the way.
Tusk Two-Blade
|
The GM said he had him step to the side when he botted him. If the icon is still in the way, it should be moved.
DM Carbide
I haven't had a chance to update the map. Just took care of it now.
DM Carbide
You can't take a 5' step diagonally through a door, so the only way to get past the zombie while it's in front of the door is a pretty challenging Acrobatics check.
DM Carbide
Does Nitre want to take a shot at a bull rush, now that Jianyu is out of the way?
Nitre
|
No, not really
Nitre darts past Mitsrandir and through Tusk's legs to try to push the zombie to the back wall.

Red? You could also try a bull rush, assuming that the sombie doesn't have Combat Reflexes and a decent DEX.
The Red Reverend

May as well.
Bull Rush: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
"Stop! Clogging! The! Doorways!"
DM Carbide
As Nitre retreats, Red rushes forward and shoves the zombie back.
Tusk Two-Blade

There you go! I knew you had it in you :)
Tusk stands there with a look of surprise on his face as Red bounces and then Red comes barreling through and takes his place in front.
"Not my fault!"
DM Carbide
With the zombie pushed back, Mitsrandir can get into the room if she wants.
DM Carbide
Botting Mitsrandir:
With the door unblocked, the elf rushes into the room and sends an arrow at the zombie! Her arrow misses everyone, though.
Arrow to undead, incl. inspire courage, point-blank shot, and penalty for shooting into melee: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 4 = 3
