Game Master Patrick Curtin

My homebrew world with the addition of the classic Savage Tide AP as a plot device. Might throw some Razor Coast and Skull and Shackles in too. YARR! Time for adventure mateys!!

Male Human Necro - Necrophagy 3rd, Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4, Init: +4; Perc +4

If his role tells him he can cast Command Undead successfully on this zombie like creature he will DC:17

"Come hither friend we shall enjoy your company. Everyone with me are allies and you will listen to their commands as well as mine. You will die to protect myself and them."

Bribes always welcome

Narl’s keen necromantic eye confirms Jakun’s assessment- this creature is indeed a garden-variety zombie. Narl can sense the low-level of necromantic energy it possesses and its lack of intelligence. Narl does note that someone has tried to take some pains with this zombie. Its body has been drained of fluids, and embalming fluids have been injected into it. Narl can smell their distinctive resinous odor. However, the humid tropical climate and dampness of this subterranean tunnel complex have not done this creature any favors. It crawls with insect larvae. Soon it will be time to flense it down to a skeleton.

Lets get the Command Undead out of the way - if it works combat is done

Zombie Will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

sorry

Male Minotaur - Wizard 3 (T) - HP 26/26 | AC= 12 | CMD = 14 | Init +10 |F - +4|R - +3|W - +3|Per + 2/+4 || Hero P 1 +2 Perception & Sense Notice when Kossel w/in 10'

Round 1

As Narl fails to overcome the will of the thing, Jakun exits from his defensive posture and attacks with his quarterstaff.

Melee Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 - Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

In your head .. In your heaaaaad .. Zombie! Rd 1

Zombie Bugbear: 1d20 ⇒ 16 Miss!
13 Spider 1d20 ⇒ 19 - Channel energy/ destroy undead
Tragon: 16
Narl: 12 Command Undead - Unsuccessful!
Taishe: 8
Norveg:Pending
Nahuatl Ti: Pending

Jakun notices that the blow he deals the zombie doesn't seem to bother it in the slightest. 13 Spider raises his turquoise and gold flying serpent pendant to the thing

Channel energy - 2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6

The thing withers somewhat

The large zombie snarls and swipes a rotting paw at Jakun

Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 82d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 = 10

Male Kobold Investigator1

The kobold raises an eyebrow ridge at Narl's apparent failure to control the zombie.

"Ah. Not to worry. Happenss to all. Sso One iss told."

Taishe readies his club and assumes a defensive posture. He will not be rushing into the undead's embrace! The kobold allows his larger, more warrior-like companions to move in, and stands ready to assist if needed.

Male Human Necro - Necrophagy 3rd, Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4, Init: +4; Perc +4

"Hmm, That is strange I think perhaps that was a different more powerful breed of zombie perhaps some enchantment to increase its ability to ward off control or something. I will need to take a look closer at it once we deal with the creature."

Narl says matter of factly almost scratching his head at the same time.

Male Kobold Investigator1

For this round, If there is room? (I think there is?) Taishe will move around behind the zombie, to give his fellows flanking. Still full defensive for the move into position. (In case of any AoO triggered?)

Male Half-Orc Fighter (Corsair) 2/Barbarian 1

Tragon advances and cuts at the zombie with his cutlass.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Slashing: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Edit: Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Crit damage if successful: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Bribes always welcome

Gods. two months. I am so sorry folks

Tragon's blade slices deep into the horrid thing, a spurt of rancid fluid spatters out of the thing, alive with larvae.

We do have some pending, but some might have dropped from the game. I'll figuer out a way to bump the narrative if needs be

Round 2

Jakun swings with his quarterstaff once more!

Melee Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 - Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

But his swing only smashes the floor...

Male Kobold Investigator1

The kobold takes a breath for courage, and steps up behind the zombie, swinging at it with his club,...

Attack! Including Flanking: 20 + 7 = 27

OH YEAH! POssible crit!, Dmg for normal attack: 1d4 ⇒ 1

BLEAH! Trying for crit confirm,...
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

I think that does it? But 2X 1 is only 2 dmg.... so still BLEAH! ;P (Unless you want me to roll for dmg again for the crit dmg? I dont crit enough to always recall how it works)

Bribes always welcome

You roll a second time

Male Kobold Investigator1

Cool, thx: Crit dmg (I hope)
1d4 ⇒ 1

AND it's Official, the digi-dice-rollers hate me today. :P

Male Human Necro - Necrophagy 3rd, Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4, Init: +4; Perc +4

Narl moves up to lay into the creature now frustration bubbling up from his "lost" opportunity for a minion.

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 191d6 ⇒ 4

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Human Necro - Necrophagy 3rd, Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4, Init: +4; Perc +4

[i]I meant to have that be my attack not a perception check [/]

Bribes always welcome

Narl's blow cracks the zombie's skull open. It collapses into a noisome pile of rotted flesh.

Good job all.

Bribes always welcome

The is one door in the room. It is a standard oiled teakwood number

Male Kobold Investigator1

Taishe nods, and pads over to the door to check it,...

Per:(Look9ing for traps) 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21

IF any traps present, and/or door is locked, disable device:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

Bribes always welcome

The door is unlocked and untrapped

Male Human Necro - Necrophagy 3rd, Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4, Init: +4; Perc +4

Narl will investigate the body of the bugbear taking a look to see what sort of difference it might be from previous zombies he has seen. Especially since it was able to shake off his command undead.

I know it just saved but to Narl he certainly feels as though to shake off his magic it must be different

Male Kobold Investigator1

The kobold takes a step or three back from the door, turns and gives a clawed thumbs-up to the others. He moves clear to give the 'bigguns' clear access to the door.

Give me a K(Arcana) or if you have any trained necromantic skills I'll take those rolls too

Jakun will open the door boldly!

Male Half-Orc Fighter (Corsair) 2/Barbarian 1

Tragon keeps his blades ready for any nastiness that may be behind the door.

Male Human Necro - Necrophagy 3rd, Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4, Init: +4; Perc +4

Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

Either one I think would work.

Narl notices that this undead shows signs of necromantic strength. It is exactly why he had traveled to Opal and Mazatil in the first place. The tales of empowered undead, of ..SPONTANEOUSLY CREATED undead had fascinated him. The things flesh might be crawling with larvae, but it has a ...solidity.. that Narl rarely saw in animated corpses

Jakun Stormhoof wrote:
Jakun will open the door boldly!

A hallway lies beyond the door. it runs northwards and terminates in two doors at a crooked terminus. Ine door faces east, the other, south

Male Kobold Investigator1

Taishe steps up beside Jakun and peers down the hallway.

"Hallway. Possibly trapped. Very dangerouss. You go first."

The kobold looks up at Jakun, his face splitting into a draconic grin.

"One think perhap he iss getting hang of Tall Folk humor. Very entertaining."

Taishe pats the minotaur on the leg, and carefully moves into the hallway, peering right and left as he slowly makes his way down,...

Narl takes a sample of the corpse so he can study it later in a more controlled environment and learn more about it.

He then turns to his companions and focuses again on the task at hand.

Tragon moves forward and tries the door leading South.

Jakun chuckles at Taishe's jest, "We Minotaur find the best way to disarm traps is to set them off, of course, most of my Kin are much more physically formidable than I am. Traps are designed to slay the weak, I am the weakest of my own kind that I have ever encountered..."

Male Kobold Investigator1

Taishe pauses, and glances over his shoulder at the Minotaur's statement.

"One should try your health plan. One would be small, but full-grown, dragon."

The kobold continues cautiously on, Using Per roll above

Bribes always welcome

The hallway is devoid of traps. The doors as well

Male Kobold Investigator1

Taishe turns back to the others, makes a small bow, and motions for them to join him.

Jakun will pause to allow Taishe to listen for whatever may be on the other side...

Male Human Necro - Necrophagy 3rd, Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4, Init: +4; Perc +4

Narl takes a look around as well keeping an eye out for potential threats.
