Elam stands up and moves back five feet.


As the chief is moving away, Thakus manages a large cut on his back. As he is getting ready to charge back, Brand shoots Sarenrae's fiery bolt that Elan inspired him to do which hits the chief on the shoulder. The chief weakens his grip on the saddle and slips off, falling face first on the ground, unconscious.

The gecko continues sticking to the wall and hisses at the group.


Tiefling Fighter/Investigator 1

Azadi moves towards the north side of the room, away from the door. "Its just a scared animal now," he offers to his new allies, "give it a clear path to the door and there's a good chance it will run off. Don't touch the chief's body yet though, it might still be territorial about him."

Moving out of the way and taking a full-defensive position.


After a few moments and trials, the group realizes that the gecko does indeed feel protective of its goblin rider. But it doesn't approach. Eventually, it is driven out.

GM note: this was a fun NPC to play. Sorry Elan for the excessive violence.

Brand casts detect magic and looks over the fallen goblins for anything useful.


Brand finds on the chief two magic potions and his short sword is magical too. His breastplate armor is well crafted as well, although it is made for small creatures. His dented crown might also be worth something. Finally, Brand finds a key ring on him with many keys.

Elan shakes the cobwebs out of his brain and returns fully to the land of the living. He looks around and says "Well that hurt. I am still on this life though." He then heals some more of his wounds.

CLW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3) + 3 = 8

No need to apologize. I know throwing that much destruction through fire is going to attract attention. I just thought I left it so he couldn't charge me. I'll be more careful next time. I didn't realize he had reach.

"I know we were late to the party..." Azadi offers as he helps Brand gather up the valuable weapons and armor, "but was this chief the last enemy to deal with or are there more parts of the fort to explore still?"

"Well, we haven't finished searching the place. We found some stairs down and I don't know if it's to a cellar or to a whole warren of goblins. I suspect there are more to deal with. Any of you use a short sword? This one has a magical dweomer, it'd probably be useful." Brand says.

"Thakus is rather injured and everyone else has some minor injuries so I'm going to channel. I'm not overly good at it but while we are not under duress I should do ok." Brand says before channeling positive energy to heal his allies ensuring all goblins are dead beforehand.

Brand figures that both potions are healing potions (CMW). Apart from the double door that the group used to enter this room, there is a door to the north and two to the east.

Elan feels the positive enegy flow over him as his wounds heal. He then turns to the group and says, "Let's finish this floor and then head down. I'll start with the southern door to the east."

Elan opens the door to a corridor. There are two doors. One in the beginning to the left (north). Then the corridor turns south and ends in another door. From the second door, he can hear two goblins arguing.

Elan points to the door and puts up two fingers. He then hangs back in the corner so the others can approach the door.

Brand walks past Elan and waits for the others to get in position before opening the door. When everyone appears ready he flings open the door.


Brand opens the door to find two goblins arguing over a game of cards.

Since you were aware and aggressive, you get a surprise round.


Tiefling Fighter/Investigator 1

Azadi moves up to the door with the dwarf and places a hand on his shoulder, blessing him with Gozreh's guidance. As the door swings open, he repeats the spell and prepares to touch Thakus as he hurries by.

If possible, I'll cast guidance on Brand before he opens the door, and use the surprise round to ready an action to cast guidance on Thakus when he moves by.

Before the goblins have time to react, Thakus thrusts his sword forward in a skewering motion.

Thakus cuts down the goblin. The other goblin gets up and attacks him.

Brand uses a backswing from his first attack to end the goblin.

Brand kills the other goblin with one stroke. In the silence that follows, the cards on the floor get smeared with goblin blood.

Elan moves into the room and looks around and asks "Did they have anything interesting?" He then points at the door to the west and opens it and moves down to the first door and examines it.

When the goblins fall with startling speed, Azadi decides to linger in the hallway for a moment to see if they’ve attracted any unwanted attention.

I’ll stand guard for a moment to make sure nothing tries to come up behind us


As Azadi enjoys the open room, he realizes that the clouds are still heavy and threatening rain. In the meantime, Elan examines the door which isn't locked nor trapped. He can hear snoring from the other side. Taking a peak inside, he can spot six poorly constructed bunk beds, little more
than hammocks slung from rickety frames, standing along the walls of this room. Each is heaped with a vermin-infested blanket and a lump of straw that serves as a frustrating pillow. In total, there are 18 beds, but 12 of them are empty. All 6 goblins are sleeping.

Tell Brand- very few dwarves share humans’ squeamishness about murdering goblins in their sleep, lol.

To that end, Brand will draw his scimitar and sling his hammer, easier to do the deed quietly with a blade. Brand looks at the others wondering if anyone was sneaky enough to dispatch them without waking the group. Not thinking it limely he tries to move in as quietly as he can.

One of the goblins wakes up with Brand's very noisy entrance. He screeches bloody murder which wakes up the other goblins.

"Heh," Brand says as if he expected them to wake. He moves toward the nearest, swinging his scimitar to finish it off.

The goblins all fall from their beds and Brand cuts one of the beds. They swarm on Brand trying to slap and bite him.

"Keep hammering 'em!" Brand calls out. Then he resets his feet and slashes at the nearest.

Azadi's mouth drops open in disbelief as Brand crouches as if he's going to sneak and then tromps loudly into the room awakening all of the goblins. It takes him a second to regain his composure after that but when he does he moves to Thakus and touches his shoulder to bolster his attack. guidance on Thakus

Thakus moves forward and strikes at the nearest goblin.

The goblin, although being a little hurt from Elan's attack, still manages to dodge Thakus' attack.

The goblins continue kicking and punching the dwarf.

Seeing things not going well for Brand, Elan moves back down the hall and swings at a goblin through the door.

Elan manages to poke the goblin's head, but he still stands.

Bolstered by Azadi, Thakus trues again against the closest goblin.

Damage + Dirty Fighter: 2d6 + 4 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1, 4) + 4 + 3 + 1 = 13

There we go!


Thakus finishes off the goblin, but another takes his place. They continue attacking Brand, but this time some of them try sweeping his legwhile the rest continue punching and biting.

Brand, again you have an AoO. They're trying to trip you.

Despite the dwarf's steady footing, the goblins manage to bring him to the ground. This new position makes him easier to kick and one goblin manages a kick in. Brand, take 3 damage
